Default Cleaning icky stamps

Some of my stamps have a build up of icky stuff ( I think possibly from my versamarking) in the nooks and cranny's. Anyone have a solution to cleaning them? I know with the wheels I had read a while ago about using Shout! and scrubbing, however I don't want to get my wood too wet.
BTW the shout and the toothbrush worked wonders on my wheels!
Any suggestions would be great,
Oh and BTWagain, the stamp pad cleaner is not working for this 'icky build up'

Hi MadelinesMom,

I would try spritzing the stamp directly with the Stampin' Mist and using a toothbrush. I've done that before with really detailed stamps and it seemed to work well. You can also try doing it with Simple Green....that stuff is amazing! HTH

I used a TINY bit (see the operative word here?) of Soft Scrub and a soft plastic veggie brush and it worked great. Wouldn't use it all the time, especially on really detailed stamps, but this was a saying stamp and I wanted to make sure all the words were clear. HTH Deb

I borrowed a set from a nother demo and couldn't get the gold out of the creases. I found an old battery operated toothbrush that turned around in circles. I just dipped that in the stampin mist and went to town. It worked better than a regular toothbrush. Good luck.

I use a little teeny drop of liquid hand soap, like Bath & Body Works, and a wet toothbrush, then rinse, and dry thoroughly with a soft towel. That takes everything off. Then I spray it with Stampin' Mist to condition keep my stamps nice. Works everytime, and I am VERY particular about my stamps!

I use a product called "kiss off" it is a stamp cleaner and conditioner at the same time. Sometimes I have to use a little toothbrush and water, but along with the stampin mist and pad, I ususally have pretty clean stamps. It comes in a tube and looks like fat lipstick, I get mine at Micheals, in the same section as goo gone, ect

For really stained stamps like after using STAZon I will use rubbing alcahol to clean the stamp, then stamp with Versa mark and clean with Stampin' Mist directly on the stamp. Hasn't hurt any of my stamps.

I've used a product put out by Ranger called "Perfect Polymer Stamp Cleaner". It comes in a 2 oz. dabber top bottle. I use it all the time to clean my stamps that I've used with Basic Black and it gets the staining off. I've also gotten stamps from other demos that had really been put through the ringer and were really gunked up with all sorts of colors and stained. I used this cleaner with a toothbrush to get in the crevices and it got 90-95% of the age-old gunk off. I got the cleaner from my local scrapbooking/stamp store.

Somewhere I read that the product Simple Green works to clean your stamps. I tried it and it worked amazing!!! I cleaned a stamp that had previously been stained and it came out perfect!!!

I use Staz On cleaner too, and that works great. Also, at the Dollar Tree you can buy a product called Awesome. It truly is an awesome cleaner on anything. I sprayed it on my wheels that were quite badly stained and got 95% of the old built up stain off. Then you can spritz it with the mist to condition them again. Hope this helps.

Believe it or not I use hairspray. The pump kind not the aerosol. I spritz the rubber w/hairspray and use a toothbrush to scrub with. Then I use a clean toothbrush w/water on it to scrub off the hairspray. My mom used to get ink out of my dad's shirts with hairspray, so I figured I would try it & it worked!
Of course then you should condition your stamp w/ your favorite conditioner.
