I just uploaded a no layer card today. I'm hoping to start selling and it was one of my samples. I'm trying to keep the layers down for mailing purposes on the cards I'm selling.
What a great thread. I am tired of paying extra postage to mail bulky cards so I am interested in looking at all the clean and simple cards without ribbons, brads or other embellishments that add to the cost when mailing.
I uploaded some CAS cards yesterday and one of them received no comments but was "favorited" 12 times. I just want to thank those twelve anonymous people 'cause it was my favorite of the uploads and I was feeling very sorry for it before I checked the "favorited" count. Whew. I thought my judgment was impaired or something!
(For the record, I think "favorited" is the same thing as a comment, so I'm definitely not complaining! )
Sometimes I think the CAS cards don't get enough attention compared to the cards with all the hoopla. I'm planning on taking a look at all of your galleries cuz I'm sure to like what you have. I've tried to embellish my cards more, but my style is pretty ingrained. Can't wait to see what you all have!
Great thread! I am a CAS girl! I love all the cards that have tons of layers and embellies but then I wonder how much money it took to mail it! I have a some comments in my gallery along the lines of "What a simle and elegant card" I use to take simple as bad but you know it turns out that is my style and there is nothing wrong with that. Are we using CAS as a keyword?
I LOVE this idea! I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who doesn't like a TON of embellishments on my cards (I have to pay to mail these after all! LOL!!). I love the idea of a CAS gallery!! Great idea!!
I'm subscribing, too - the first time ever, in fact I love CAS cards - that's what most of mine are. Thanks for this thread and all the links to amazing CAS galleries.
I am so happy I found this thread and can't wait to go back and check out all the CAS cards. I bet I will love them all.
This is perfect timing for me as my SIL asked me to make her 3 sets of notecards (2 for presents and 1 for herself)... the catch... no sentiments, no embellishments and simple and clean. Seriously, this has been so difficult for me.
I ended up ordering the several monogram sets from Papertrey to create a personalized notecard for the set. I ended up coming up with a very simple (and clean) idea that I am totally in love with! And the best part is that these cards take about 2 minutes to make... here's the link to the notecards:
I just finished a one layer only card swap on the SU demos forum. Although it took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to do, I thoroughly enjoyed my end results. I think you will see some more uploaded once we all receive our swaps!
Thanks again for organizing the swap Joanne!

I'm a stamper who thinks that clean and simple = classic and elegant.
What a great idea to use CAS code! I've already looked at some of the wonderful blogs mentioned and was delighted to find my own on the list. (Thanks, Susan!) as well as many of my favorites.
I have to shout about my daughter Emily's work. She is a master at this style and it comes effortlessly to her. :-) Here's a link to her gallery. She often keeps me from adding just that one more thing to my cards.
I am totally on baord with what everyone is saying/typing! I too feel sorry for some of my things I've uploaded that are CAS and seemingly ignored. I am a mess when I feel like I have to make my cards more interesting (read embellished to the maximum and beyond). This is a GREAT way to find all the cards I would love to be inspired by and CASE (flatter)!!!

I love clean and simple too. Except for a challenge for Beate recently, all of mine are not very layered. I think the layers ones are gorgeous. I have no idea how Markie's Mom does it, but it's not me. It's harder for me to layer than to K.I.S.S Back in the days my graphic design prof. always told us, KISS, KISS, so it's probably just embedded in me. I know my scrapbooks I can get a little much but cards are just back to basics.
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have just come out of a stamping slump because I kept trying to make the "WOW" cards that everyone seems to gravitate too.....but I finally realized that when I bought cards....I bought "simple and clean" and now I'm starting to enjoy stamping again....simple and clean!! Thanks for this thread (and all the great blogs etc!!)
It took some time, but I have finally caught up on all the posts and checking out everyone's galleries. Such great cards - I love the simple style. Thanks for the thread and all the links. Keep 'em coming!
Besides simple, few layered cards use up less layers, and are therefore cheaper. All that money saved on paper could be used on more stamps, really!

okay so who is going to feed my kids and pets and clean my house when I go to all these cool places?

Yes I am looking at CAS gallery daily. I went into my gallery and added the key word to my cards that I think are CAS. There is great inspiration in the CAS gallery!

I usually make clean and single cards also. I enjoy seeing the beautiful multilayer cards, but have a hard time doing them myself. Sometimes I've worried that my cards are too plain. This thread has really encouraged me. It looks like I'm in great company! I will now CAS proudly!!!
I totally appreciate the beauty of ultra-embellished, multi-layered cards and I tried to go that direction when I first started out. I finally realized, though, that the cards that really make me gasp and inspire me are the clean ones. Since I've embraced simplicity, I'm much happier with my own designs.
I'm happy to see that so many other people feel the same way!

This was supposed to read "clean and simple." That'll teach me to proof read before I submit.
I am most definitely a CAS girl. Thanks for all the great blogs and galleries that have been shared. Hopefully I will get brave enough now to post some of my cards. I thought they were too simple.

I'm loving this thread since I'm mostly a clean and simple card maker myself. I'm enjoying looking at all of the galleries which is taking a long time. Who knew there were so many of us?? Keep 'em coming.
