I'm hosting a Cookie's and Craft party for preschoolers and was wondering if anyone had ideas as to something the kids could make that would be very easy? I was thinking lollipop holders, but wanted other ideas. TIA!
check out the crafts at familyfun.com. I am a homeschooler and I love this site! It has lots of very easy things for kids. Plus just some cool ideas like this lighthouse made from a pop bottle:
My DD came home from daycare with a great home-made rattle. They took 2 small paper plates and had her decorate/stamp the bottom side of each. Then they put some dried beans/popcorn in one of them and then put the other on top like a clamshell. Stick a popsicle stick into it and staple all around. Voila! And to make it extra cute, tie a bit of ribbon around the stick. It was very cute and super easy to make!

Do you know if there's a 12-step program for stamping? No, seriously, is there??
i was over at a friend's house and her daughter had an I-spy bottle. she kept it and apparently looks at it all the time. you use a 1 liter bottle, and fill i think 3/4 with rice, and add all kinds of little things, halloween spider rings, gems, faking insects, buttons, anything you can think of. then you screw the cap back on and they can add little decorations to the outside. (especially around the cap part of the bottle.)
when they play with it they have to shake and tilt the bottle to try and find the items that are hidden in there.
Thanks ladies for all the answers. They are really great. I was kind of thinking along the lines of stamping, though. Thanks for the suggestions. I did check out the websites and found some really cute projects that we could do with things found around the house. Awesome ideas!
How about cupcakes? My LSS had a cupcake party for kids. They all made a cupcake card (pretty much just gluing and then coloring/decorating), a cupcake in a jar recipe and they each got their own cupcake to eat/decorate. My DD wanted to go so bad but we were out of town that weekend!

How about cutting some heavy white cardstock into postcard-size pieces. They can stamp to their heart's content on one side and the other can be addressed and mailed to someone special (like Grandma). Very easy, inexpensive, fun. I always love getting "refrigerator art".
Love the idea to stamp some Original Art Postcards! I might have to use that idea with my Moms meetup group!
Great idea for a thread!!! I have a lot of toddlers in my group-so the postcard project would be very easy but yet appropriate for preschool and school age kids too!
I have a set of snow white stamps that have all sorts of things from the scenes of the movie, even a boy might find interesting enough. I precut all the parts/layers of the cards and let them stamp all over the piece getting stamped. I usually use cheap dye ink but even that gets their skin stained. My mom had got a washable pad, but it sure wasnt as washable as the others I have. Then I put some glue on paper plates and maybe some popsicle sticks for spreading and let them glue on kid friendly embelishments like large rhine (sp?) stones, feathers, googly eyes, pasta, or things I already punched out, oh or even those tubs for about $5 at walmart that have a mixture of foam things. I have a 3 and 5 year old and I starting doing things like this when each turned 2. Expect a mess if the kids are younger (like my 3 year old) but my 5 year old loves it and creates little scenes with the stamps now.
Hmmmm preschoolers. Depending on their ages, they could make their own picture books (you could have premade books and they could draw the pictures. Younger ones could add precut pieces to preprinted pictures maybe?) Here's a really cute tutorial for homemade books, if you're interested:
I have had good luck with my kids (5 and 3) and the drink containers (like what the crystal light comes in). They alter them all the time with patterned papers or paper they stamped. When they've finished I help them punch holes in the top with the crop a dile and they can tie ribbons in it. It's pretty simple and not too long to exceed their attention spans.
Love the idea of postcards! I'm going to have to remember that idea. I'm thinking that would be a great birthday party project and then you could even send the postcards out as thank you notes.
How about tissue paper projects where you scrunch a 1 inch square of tp on a pencil and glue it to paper. My 5 yr old and I just did a project this week doing that and he loved it.

give them each a full sheet of labels and one stamp image each with one color inkpad.
have them crazy stamp all over the page.
everybody stops...
(You can use music too!)
& turns the page- like a record.
repeat
then stop and pass the color and the image to the left/right...
repeat both steps again.
they end up with background paper that is also sticky.
at this point
show them how to stamp a smallish sentiment relatively straight on each label...
or get a helper to do it quickly for them...
use each label to cover a variety of cheap objects
like recycle boxes, cans, jars, that are kidsafe...
tp tubes are great... fold in the ends to trap a small treat or toy...
paper lunch sacks!
small treats...like mini waterbottles, lipbalm, snacks like pudding and halloween candy, fold a rectangle over a lollipop...
and stick one label on a ziploc bag to put everything in.
I like 4x2 labels on fruit leathers and around smarties boxes personally!
My ds & I use Bitty Boos and Booglie Eyes at halloween and use a big fall greeting to make all my door treats.
I also have toybox and buttonbow twinkletoes for kid parties.
we make the whole gift and card and wrap with labels!
If the kids have a bunch of coordinating 1/2 sheets of cs then they can now make cards, 2468 boxes and sour cream containers,
or you can prep a selection and just let them be labelled
( this can have your lil gift inside)
they can put them together 'all by themselves' lol!
these are great ideas that are cheap, cheerful and easy and get the moms thinking about 'just one' set to use for a birthday party. then it snowballs...this gets them to one color family of spots and one sentiment set. that is usually enough to get a non-stamper "IN" iykwim!
little little kids also love stamping in playdough!
it only takes a smidge smooshed on the table to make a "chalkboard" that they can "draw" on with some stamps.
I used to take some to the restaurant in a film cannister!
it isn't even enough to choke on esp if you watch them!
how fun! good luck!
please share how it goes!
