Hi gals. Just wanted to let you know that I've been trying to find you good hotel deals. So far, only 1 that is under $200.00 per night.
I'll keep looking, but maybe you will have to think about staying near the airport, or farther out in a suburb.
Jen LOVE your avatar. Is that really Bora Bora. DH and I went there a couple of years ago to do some scuba diving. It was probably the most beautiful place I have ever been! Actually had a couple of sharks visit us on one of our dives!! Exciting stuff. lol
Just joined this group and found these threads... What is this Chicago thing?
Susan a bunch of us challenge chasers were online stalking one weekend and that it would be fun to get together to meet one another and stamp. Chicago seemed to the most middle point for all of us on the CC RAK list at the time -- actually marked it out on a US map with pins and found the middle point. So we picked the weekend of July 28 to try to meet in Chicago for anyone that could. Make it a long weekend Friday, Saturday, Sunday!

Feel free to email or PM me with ?'s.
Jen I don't think we need to be actually in The Loop, surely we can find something out by the airport or in a suburb where we can take EL train downtown if we wanted too! Maybe we should ask some of the stampers actually from Chicago about some places we can stay.

Using our RAK list I see that laurakj lives in IL (Waynesville) don't know if that is close to Chicago or not. Am still looking at getting there now that I have ds talked out of coming with me. He is just jealous that I may travel w/o him. But he wouldn't enjoy stamping so he is staying home. We can do a trip together later.
LOL, I'm about 4 hours south of Chicago. You're gonna get the best price for airfare to Chicago, but they will get ya on hotel costs!
I'm hoping to be able to make it, but the St. Louis gathering is the weekend before and I've already talked DH into going camping that weekend with me down that way, so I don't have to drive the whole way by myself. I don't know if he'd go for another stamping weekend so close. LOL But I'll try
I just found the Doubletree Hotel Chicago Ohare Rosemont for $84.15 a night for 2 people per room, 2 queen beds, non-smoking. But the on-site parking is $24 a night UGH! This is the trouble with Chicago LOL!

There's also the Super 8 near Midway Airport. It looks like its $59.88 per night for 2 people, 2 full beds, free parking. I don't know if they have meeting rooms though. http://tinyurl.com/myhcq
Hi Girls. I have found a Hampton Inn in Schaumburg that has a room with 2 double beds for $129.00, includes hot breakfast, free parking and they have a confrence room that can hold 20.
There is a Holiday Inn in Elmhurst that has rooms with 2 beds for $99.00 per night, free parking and confrence room. Not sure what they charge for those. Seems to be about 15 miles from Chicago.
I also see some places in Downers Grove or Elmhurst for under $100.00 per night but don't see that they have any meeting rooms.
I can keep looking for other options....how many of you are planning on going?
I'm from the Chicago area...maybe I can answer some questions about location. Midway area would not be my first choice - a little industrial and not much to do there. Schaumburg would be fun - if you get tired of stamping, there's GREAT shopping there (Woodfield Mall and probably every store you've ever heard of within about a 10-minute drive). Probably the best shopping in the Chicago suburbs. Elmhurst is right on the train line to go downtown (that's how we locals refer to Chicago), probably about a 30-minute ride. It has a cute downtown area, but not much more than that. Although you would be about a 10-minute drive max to Oak Brook Mall - another nice place for shopping, but just not as huge as in Schaumburg. Many of the suburbs have a train line close by. The trains are nice and clean, though they don't run as frequently as, say, the "el." Staying near O'Hare is also convenient for taking public transportation (el line, but no train) downtown, but there's not much in the immediate area to do.
I regularly use http://www.tripadvisor.com/ when I'm planning a trip. I use kayak.com for searching for the lowest airfare. I recently traveled to Chicago and stayed at the Seneca Hotel (in the Magnificent Mile area). The hotel wasn't inexpensive, but a king suite with valet parking (in and out many times throughout the day) can be had for less if you seach on the different sites for the best deal. We got a king suite with 2 full bedrooms and 2 full baths (1 was a jacuzzi bath), with a full kitchen and all the accoutrements of home. It cost about $195 a night incl. parking, I think. It was a nice 2 bedroom apt, to be honest! Check tripadvisor for other reviews - all Chicago info starts here: http://chicago-hotels.tripadvisor.co...Vacations.html
I just did a quick check and unfortunately there are no rooms available in July. At least the other search features might help!
It was a blast and I'll stay at the Seneca again every time I go to Chicago. I highly recommend just walking around! Lots of shops, public transport easy to use, and you can get a shuttle from the airport of you don't want to rent a car. Cars are really unnecessary in Chicago, in my opinion!

I wanna come too. I'll have to really talk dh into this little trip though. He seems to think that he gets a new car before I can buy any more stampin' related stuff--uh... not gonna happen, but I let him dream
