So far I've only really seen stuff from TH, and I have to say, for once I'm totally underwhelmed! There are some interesting stencils, but for me that's it for his release this time round.
Is CHA open to the general public, or it is only for professional crafters/buyers? I know the owner of our local Scrapbooking store attends. Registration fee is pretty steep, but I'd love to be able to go and see all the booths, etc. I'm looking forward to seeing the products and videos soon to see what we just have to buy next.
I may be wrong, if so someone I know will supply the correct info, but I believe the CHA is a show for those with some sort of trader accreditation- store owners/buyers for chains/ professional demos and so on.
Maybe it's because I have so much already, or have been doing this for so long, but there's not much that excites me these days. Unless it's something EXCEPTIONAL (like the MISTI), I'm pretty much okay with not caring... I'll see what others are doing with the new stuff and assess from there, but I don't need sneak peeks and all the rest of it. I used to get excited about new stuff, though, so I certainly understand others' giddiness about it. Maybe I'm just old and cranky...
I believe that Shaz is correct in thinking that you have to be in some sort of business that revolves around the products presented at CHA to gain entry (along with the fee, of course).

About four or five years ago they has a day that was open to the public. I heard it did not become a regular thing because vendors did not like being there an extra day and the nonmembers shopping there looked but bought very little.

CHA is for the trade only. I offered to carry an LSS owner's tote bags through the exhibits so she could be hands free. She laughed; that may not mean yes. This year their concentration is sewing and fabrics. Creativation
I am not loving TH either this round. In fact, some of it bothers me. There are stamps and stencils that are just squiggly lines. Really? I saw two stencils of brick or rock walls that I like but I already have stuff like that so I dont need it.
Most trade shows dont let the public in that I know of. However...I did see a ton of young bloggers at the publisher one...so if you blog you may be able to get in.
I drilled down and it seems if you teach classes or are a "digital provider" whatever that means-blogging? You can go. also there is "professional maker"...I dont know what that means. You sell your cards? Sounds like you will need a resale number though or a tax ID number for those?
I'm just a hobby card maker. I don't sell any of my cards. Just do it for fun. However I love shopping for supplies. I think that's half the fun for me. I don't live anywhere near Phoenix either. I do try to stick to a budget though, but at my age I don't need much of anything else, so it's fun to shop for supplies. Always watching for the mail to arrive. I have a friend who also loves to craft and shop and thought we'd have a blast going to this craft show together.
Laura does the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo come anywhere near you? That might be right up your and your friend's alley. Here's a link to 2017 locations: 2017 Expo Show List - Stamp & Scrapbook EXPO
I went to one last year as a registration volunteer and teacher's assistant, took a few one-hour classes, and wandered the exhibit hall. Some vendors had free or low-cost make-n-takes. They also have all-night crops and other events. Some people came in the pj's for the all-nighter. : )
ETA Volunteers are paid, which seems odd, but $10/hour was fun spending money.
I will be the minority. I am going to love CHA this year. Sadly, I thought CHA was last week. This is what happens in the scrapbook world I got sneak peeks already, lol.
I am really excited it is going to be a fabric show this year. I love fabric, sewing and all that great stuff. I can't wait to see the new trends and innovations.
I do like Tim's stuff. I love Tim but every year for CHA I am like that is cute but not for me. This year the sneak peeks I was like I need those washi, that punch thingy I have no idea what it does but I need it, did I say I need those washi tapes. I love a lot of the new stamp sets. I like a lot of the new embellishments, especially the flowers we can spray different colors.
Well, there I was, thinking this was going to be a cheap release for me, there are only a few stencils I want. Then what happens? Tim shows his new Distress Oxide inkpads- a blend of dye & pigment inks. They are awesome! Sold on the fact that they stamp clearly on black cardstock. This time round, only about a dozen- but you know eventually there will be the whole palette. I'm going to need a new shelf!
I'm kind of excited about the Distress Oxide pads as well! I hear My Sweet Petunia has a new product as well. I'm going to miss seeing my new stamp release in person this year... :( ...but that travel/hotel money will be put to better use in my studio. Eep!
CHA (Craft & Hobby Assoc.) is the industry trade show, a.k.a. 'market', for scrapbook stores, fabric stores, and so much more but all related to crafting. Your fave crafting stores will attend & see & touch & order their next round of fresh, new supplies for whatever crafts they sell. Paper crafting & stamping is just a "piece" of the entire CHA 'pie'. And it is one big pie! LOL
It is really interesting to see the new color trends, design trends, what will be the new "hot" & what's "Not Hot" for the coming months. Design team members, store employees or store designers, etc. are often chosen to attend & help demonstrate the new goodies ... and some are brought along to help make the multitude of "shop for the store" decisions. Spending someone 'else's' moolah can be fun ... or so I've heard! LOL single purchase buyers like you & I don't get to attend and buy. Probably best, especially if you're in a mood to refresh your toys.

Dini-who has the release? I would want to watch for that!
I love the Sneek Peeks, did laugh as guess what TH has this year.... a stamp press... and We r Making Memories, doesn't seem to have much, and it's the tools I love
