I do clean my with just water but the most part. If they are really bad I go for the ultra clean (rubber ones only). Been doing that for 20 years and the rubber on the 20 yo stamps is just fine.

I use a wipe on my stamps when I am using chalk ink or other inks like that. Then I use my stamp n scrub with the TAC cleaner. on my other stamps I just use the stamp n scrub with the TAC cleaner spritzed on the pad. It works very well for me.
That too funny...earlier lanolin was mentioned as a product used while breast feeding.
'Zacly: lanolin is often/has often been recommended for lactating mothers to avoid dryness and cracking of the skin. A "boob" (or, in the case of changing a baby's soiled diaper, "the buttocks") would not be inversely affected by lanolin, whereas rubber, in reference to the OP, would, due to the fatty acid causing a chemical reaction to the components of rubber.
However, not being a science major, or even a minor, for that matter, I could be entirely wrong on this "theory".

I make my own wipes. Then you can add what you like.
Here's how.
1-1/2 cups water
1 tablespoon babyoil (any brand)
2 tablespoons Baby wash (any kind)
1/2 of a large paper towel roll.
10cup or 2.4L round rubbermaid container to fit the roll
Cut a large paper towel roll in half so you are left with two short rolls. (Bounty works best but you can expierement, just make sure it is a large roll.)
Mix together water, baby oil and body wash. Pour gently over paper towel roll in container until wet. Then pour the rest into the middle where the core is to soften it. Remove core and pull wipes from middle of roll.
They are really soooo easy. The cutting the roll is the toughest part. Be sure to use a sharp straight blade knife.
The article said not to use any petroleum-based products, oils, or lanolin. I would think that means that baby oil is a no-no. There are recipes for homemade stamp cleaner that have glycerin instead of the baby oil in them.
I wonder if it would be OK to start with baby wipes to get the majority of the ink off and then finish off with the scrub to get the ink out of the crevices and also rinse off the baby wipes solution? The reason I ask is because I have a container that I use over and over because it has a wide opening and I just buy the wipes refills, so I don't know which wipes I have in my case and therefore, don't know if they contain lanolin.
Stamping friends, save the lanolin wipes for your tool kit using them only when you are away from your working place. When at home I use a paint edger pad(similiar texture to the Stampin up Scrub tray) spray it with water and rub my stamps into it I then blot the stamp off on a lint free rag; when the rang gets too grubby I toss it in the washing machine. Scotch brite have a large range of cloths that can also be used if you prefer not to use the edger. When stamping with water resistent inks I use Ranger product called Cleansit which not only cleans the stamp it also conditions it, preventing the rubber from getting hard and brittle....Give it a try, imagine the landfill we could be saving!!!!! I've been using baby wipes for 7-8 years and I admit I use the cheapest ones I can get! The no name kind that you get at the dollar stores. I have no idea what they have in them but I have NEVER Had a problem with my rubber, on occasion i have got the kind that leave fuzzies so then I try to buy different cheapies.
Maybe it takes many years for the attack to happen?
I agree. I use the baby wipes to get the majority of the ink off, then use Stampin' Mist on my Stampin' Scrub. I think you can get away with any baby wipes as long as there is no prolonged contact and you finish cleaning with something protective, like Stampin' Mist.
Thanks will have to hunt them out. I use Pampers Sensitive at the moment but need to see what's in them. Oooh I love the sound of the Pampers Lavender, wonder if we get them over here - adore Lavender.

That should read as "would not be adversely affected by lanolin", but otherwise, that's a nice summary. I have an 18 month old and they (the doctors & hospitals) still recommend using lanolin to keep the boob skin supple and soft after the wear and tear one's little angel puts it through. Helps alleviate the soreness too...until the lil one cuts a tooth, then it's time to wean! Lanolin is also quite safe for babies to digest, although it's really an insubstantial amount after it's rubbed into and absorbed by the skin, the baby really wouldn't be eating much of it even if nursing right after you applied it. I haven't heard of it being recommended for the buttocks though. Generally you want to keep that area dry and not seal in moisture around the skin which will lead to diaper rashes. Talcum (baby) powder works nice or a spot of Desitin diaper rash cream if the skin has a rash and is cracking/bleeding.
I've been using Huggies Natural Care wipes since our son was born 5 years ago and they're a nice thick wipe. However, we recently switched to Huggies Naturally Refreshing wipes when I bought them by accident instead of the Natural Care ones. (The box looked similar to the one I normally bought, had a green Natural something I didn't read fully label...whoops!) I love the Naturally Refreshing ones however so I buy them as my first choice now since they smell like Cucumber & Green Tea but are still gentle on the baby's skin. The top 3 ingredients are Water/Aqua, Potassium Laureth Phosphate, and Glycerin so these look pretty good for my SU stamps! They wipe my stamps pretty clean unless I've been stamping with my Basic Black pad and that always leaves trace stains, but everything else comes right up so far.
Great suggestion re no lanolin with rubber stamps. I checked on the web and found that it's not only lanolin that will degrade rubber, it's any oil.
We are safe with glycerin in the didy-wipes but no mineral oil, jojoba, coconut or palm oil. So Sue..........you've saved our fannies! Not to mention the rubber stamps!! Thank you SO much!! Char :c}
wow! Thanks for all the info!!!! I knew to avoid alcohol in baby wipes, but didn't know that lanolin and all of the other oils could be damaging. I personally have three different stamp scrubbers - one for black ink ( I use a lot of stazon ) one for light colours and one for darker colours - I know - it's funny! ) But it keeps all the ink from transferring when you are cleaning your stamp. I use various stamp cleaners - Stazon for stazon ink and versamark, and Judykins, the SU stuff etc for the non permanent inks. I am a bit crazy I guess - because again I have a stazon cleaner bottle for black and a stazon cleaner bottle for lighter colours and versa mark. And to think my stamp room is a mess???
I do use baby wipes when I have a lot of ink to initially get it off. I really pamper/ huggy my stamps!

I get a LOT of ink on my stamp n scrub. Pointer for making the stamp n scrub easier to clean. Attach the fuzzy brush part (technical name) to the case by putting some really good double-sided (carpet) tape on the back; then just run it under the tap and stand it on its end in the sink or on paper towel to dry. works for me anyway...
Most often, I just use a couple of sponges dampened with water, in a plastic box to clean my stamps as I go. If I get stubborn bits, I use a toothbrush and water, sometmes a little dishsoap. When the sponges get nasty looking, I just run 'em under the water in the sink, squeeze a couple times, and they're good to go again. I haven't had ANY problems with my rubber, and have been doing it this way for years.
Parknslide said the wipes can be harmful to ink pads....I'm wondering could this be why my whisper white and versamark are spotted with tiny blue dots? I went away for 2 weeks and when I came back they were spotted. This does not create blue spots on my images though.....thoughts? has this happened to anyone else?
IDEA!!!!! HA! If wipes disintegrate stamps will stamp cleanser disintegrate butts??? I'll be the first to try!!!! Would that work on muffin tops also???

Thanks. I wondered if simple water would do the trick. I like the damp sponge/clean as I go idea. What do you clean your stamp with when you use Stazon? I'm new at this. Got lotsa stamps and no clue!! Thanx, Char
The thing to remeber is that any oil or fatty substance will make the rubber in your stamps break down! So when reading the contents look for natural fats/oils as well as hyrdocarbons. If not sure ask the Pharmacist they are so good at the chemistry and knowing what is in everything as well as what EVERYTHING really is!
I've seen people saying the glycerin is ok for the stamps, but glycerin is the common name for Glycerol. Glycerol is a central component of lipids- fats
Some of the cleaner recipes on SCS list glycerin as an ingredient so I assumed glycerin was OK. SU! says Stampin' Mist conditions your stamps. What is the ingredient that "conditions"?
(BTW stampinsista! in the past I have use wipes with lanolin and aloe to clean my stamps and have never had a problem with my Versamark.)
why is somethign that lifts acrylic nails and eats away at rubber being maketed for me to put on my baby's behind!
Your baby's tush is "all natural" so lanolin is actually safe to put on it. This would be the same for Vaseline (petroleum jelly) too. Not good for man-made rubber but safe for the all natural tush.
