Default cards with food treats - legal ?'s

hi everyone - I have discovered that the chocolate pops and other treats that I have put with my cards are big sellers at gift shops and craft fairs - does anyone know what legal info I have to put on these products? - I have the chance to sell at a big show this spring - I live in MA - thanx so much, carole

If these are treats that you are making yourself, then you could have problems if they are not being prepared in commercial kitchen facilities. There are a lot of rules and regulations that are involved in food preparation for sale, even on the local gift shop level.

If these are treats that you are purchasing yourself, like bulk lollipops or whatever, then I wouldn't think there's anything to worry about. As long as you know where they came from, I think you'd be ok. Really, though, I think you'd be better off consulting with a real live attorney.

I think its kinda like at a concession stand. They buy the candy in bulk and then sell it so it should be ok for you to do it too.

At craft shows I've gone to where they sell their items handmade, they just do it. If the people you rent the booth space from have requirements then abide by those. If not then you should be ok.

Each state is different on the rules for that. When I lived in FL, we weren't allowed to sell any food product that had been opened or was made from scratch with out a kitchen facility. Not sure what the rules are for MA. I'm sure someone on here will know
