Default Card Sizes...

Does anyone have a list of card sizes that they can share with me? I get tired of the regular fold the 8-1/2 x 11 and cutting it and folding it again.
I see alot of square cards that I really like. Anyone able to help?

I know the sizes they are to be when "finished" but what are the "pre-cut" sizes?

Thanks Ladies!

Default Simplest Square

The simplest square card to make is the 6x6 (i.e. cut a piece of 12x12 in half and fold). SU sells envelopes that fit this size. Another popular size card is probably 1/2 sheet 8.5 x 11 (like when you trifold a letter). That size would be easy to find envies for.

I recently bought a whole bunch of envies from Hallmark card store. These were left overs on their sale table and were 1 dollar for 24 (I bought 7 packages of different sizes). These are in assorted sizes including 8.5 x 5.5 (folded full sheet of 8.5 x 11).

You should check around and see what envie sizes you can find before making the cards.

I like making 4.25 x 4.25 cards - cut the CS @ 4.25 instead of at 5.5 for a reg card - check out my blog in my sig line - I just uploaded 3 square cards.

I prefer that size b/c they fit in th estandard envelope and I don't have to add extra postage -if you use square envies you have to add extra. HTH!

5X5 are fun too! Just harder to find envies for. Everyonce in a while I will do the 5X5 just for something different. Gives a nice work space for the card.

I love to make 'tall' cards -- the ones that fit in a #10 'business' size envelope. I cut my stock 8x9" and the folded card is 4x9" -- I use the leftover strips for punching and embellishments. HTH!

Happy trails....

I love doing 4x4 cards, they seem to be a popular size right now and you can get 4 of them out of one 12x12 sheet

Another fun size is the "little tall cards", similar to the ones scpd described. Cut the paper 6.25" x 7" and then fold so the card is 6.25" x 3". It will fit in a standard envelope, like the size that you could send a check in.

I like 5 x 5 cut a sheet of 8.5 x 11
one inch of the long side, then cut at the 5 inch mark in the opposite direction.

I sometimes do what I call a "faux square" card. It's 4 1/2 x 4 1/4. Illusion of square, but fits nicely into a regular envy. No extra postage. I also have done one of the sketch challenges where you cut the paper differently--SC85
