I bought a recipe box at Michael's for a dollar awhile back, and decorated it. I used it to put my recipes in, because I didn't think cards would fit. I bought 5 more of the boxes today to alter for my friends, for being in my hostess club. I decided to cut the back part of the box, where the lid is attached, to see if the cards would fit better...and it's perfect!! I can't wait to finish them and give them to my friend's!
They have the boxes in two different spots in my store. In the middle of the aisle where some of the dollar stuff is. Then there are more that are $2 back in the 'fun finds' section.
Have fun!
Ok, I have no idea how to download the pictures from my camera, so my husband will have to do it tomorrow. I should have the first one finished by then anyway.
I bought one of these too and had originally planned to use it to hold cards for a gift. However, I noticed my Cuttlebug embossing folders laying on the table and a light went off. I put the embossing folders in the recipe box! Now they're out of the way and I know where to find them.
Great idea. I am wanting to give some cards as a gift to a friend that is expecting a baby and I want a sturdy box to put them in so they won't get crushed.

Are these the ones with the little fairies on them? I actually bought one with the matching recipe cards because I thought they were SO cute. I did NOT need another recipe box, but I loved the design.

I bought one of these a while back with the intention of altering it, too. I still haven't done it yet, but when I was straightening up in my craft room, I discovered it was perfect for storing all the scrapbook sketches I have printed out on postcard cardstock. I belong to a sketch club and get 7 emailed to me every week, plus at least 4 examples, so I had cards everywhere. Eventually I plan to make dividers and separate them by number of photos.
