I'd really like to know how different these 2 are.
If you could only have one which one do you prefer?
In tha catalog Linen looks sort of "plaid". How noticeable is
the pattern?
Thanks for you help,
Bev
I purchased canvas first...I just purchased Linen and LOVE it!!! Canvas is a little harsher than I expected it to be...I like the way Linen is there but doesn't stand out as much as Canvas - a much nicer look IMO!
I have both and use my canvas more often. I like it because it's a bit more masculine and sometimes I need that. I also like to stamp it over a stamped image to give a subtle pattern to the image. The linen is beautiful. It has a softer, more feminine look. I have not noticed anything distracting about the pattern. When you stamp it it gives the look of linen paper. It's great if you like the vintage or elegant look. I don't think you can go wrong with either one it's really a matter of what kind of things you do. Do you do a lot of masculine things or feminine things?
I have 29 bg stamps- including both Canvas and Linen but I reach for Canvas 9 out of 10 times. Someone wrote below that Linen is more feminine and Canvas more masculine but they both work very well for either. If someone told me I was only allowed to own one bg stamp I would chose Canvas.
Linen indeed often makes for a cs that looks lightly textured.
The canvas is good too. I particularly value using it tone on tone or with versamark for a more subtle look. With a darker imprint it does lend itself to a masculine card, but it is still appropriate for both men and women.
Right now canvas is the only one of the two that I have, but I am quickly falling in love with linen the more I see it in the gallery and hear everyone talking about it!
I have both and love both for different things, I tend to reach for my linen more but only because it is a more subtle background. I like using it on a piece of what in like creamy caramel and then stamping the image I want over that. Looks great!

If you are really on the fence, check the gallery & use Canvas & Linen as your Search words. Really study the cards & decide on which look you like better. I personally own both & won't give up either of them!

I have both and prefer Canvas over Linen. Linen is really subtle and I generally don't use it as a background for a whole card. I'll use it for a layer or to tone down the whiteness of my focal image.

Wow. This such a hard decision. I was wondering the same thing. Guess I'll buy the linen to start with and then the canvas a little later. Both seem to be 'must haves'.
Hmmmm, I have both and have never really thought about which I use more. I guess I would have to say that I use linen more. Can't tell you why for sure cause I like them both. That didn't help you at all did it?
That's a toughie. I have both and probably use them about the same, but in different ways. I use canvas more as a full bg, tone on tone. I use linen more as partial bg and over images to tone them down. I love the look of linen and I guess I would say it is my favorite of the two.
Once I got linen I rarely use Canvas any more. I love the way it takes a simple stamped image and transforms it into a hand painted masterpiece when you over stamp it with Creamy Caramel! The canvas is just too hash for me now.
