That's great that your local MP took your cards for mailing. My local MP is checking with the Ethics Commissioner to see if it's okay to send my 4+ boxes! We've been e-mailing back and forth for a week or so, now.
It's fun to support A Card for Home through collecting the cards and having people like you sending directly to them.
Our military base in Edmonton took quite a hit this week with 3 soldiers killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan. The families of those who died need to be in our thoughts and prayers.
Just bumping this up a bit. Haven't had much going on with cardmaking - us Canadians are still busy with the end of the school year activities with our kids (for me 3 days left)!
I'm still collecting cards, and I'm still waiting to hear from my MP for shipping.
And yes, I'm going to contact my location tv station. Last week I was in the process of writing the e-mail when I got a call from my MIL's nursing home that she needed to go to the hospital. That took priority. I'm hoping this week will settle down and I can get at it.
I just received an e-mail from A Card For Home. They have sent out 4,000 cards and have another 500 with them that they are sorting and stamping with their logo. Our 1,000+ will help them out alot.
Can I beg for more, especially with the retired stamps and lots of you needing to "get rid of" your old cards/cardfronts?
Also...my DH was talking to his trucker buddy who goes through Manitoba with great regularity. He said he would be more than happy to deliver the boxes of cards to A Card for Home! Isn't that awesome?!
Let me know when I can expect more. Thanks so much for all of you that have sent already. I really do appreciate your generosity.
I had a card making session on Thursday. Not too many came but we got 60 cards made! I have 110 cards collected so far. I'm going to wait until Sept when everyone is back from holidays & push a few more sessions.

That's great! I assume you are going to continue sending directly to A Card for Home since it's closer than sending to me? They will be thrilled with the donations from SCS. Thank you!
The e-mail about this project went out to my local tv station a few minutes ago! I finally contacted them. Are you proud of me? That kick in the pants took a long time to get to me...maybe the server was down.
Seriously, though, this does make me nervous to think I could be on tv.
I'll keep you updated on what the response is...until then, keep sending cards! I want to continue filling boxes to send to A Card for Home. Feel free to send directly to them, too, just put a note on this thread that you did it. That way we can see what response came through SCS.
Thats FABULOUS Heartwig! Although I suspect some of the reason for the quick response is the sad news that has been in the media this week. (Maybe next time I'll send several kicks & they'll get there faster? LOL)

You are probably right. The Canadian military have taken a hard hit this week. Any way to support them is going to get the media attention.
I felt like a bumbling idiot! umm, uuuu, blah blah. But..the beauty of tv is that they will edit all that out and make me sound brilliant...now if they could only make me look brilliant too! I'm sure I forgot to mention lots of stuff, but out of the 5 minutes of tape they'll cut it down to 30 seconds of talking anyway.
It will be on CFRN Edmonton at 6:00 tonight and rerun at noon tomorrow.
I saw you last night, now I know what you look like. LOL.
So glad it was aired, although the stories preceding it of our latest 6 military deaths had me in tears. One of the men had a 4 day old daughter before he left in February. Now she will never have her Daddy.
I'm back after spending the weekend in Lethbridge for the Lacrosse Provincials (the team my son was a part of took the bronze!)
My DD had to tape the news so I could see myself - that's a real big LOL!!! It's weird hearing and seeing yourself on tv. Don't know if I'll ever get used to it.
Now I'm ready and waiting for more cards...do any of you have some to send? It's been a pretty quiet few weeks.
Just thought I'd share one of the cards that my daughter has made for the box to go to A Card For Home. She's made 20 altogether (so far). She has a different stamping style than me, but hey, isn't that what this site is all about? She also uses all the bright colors that I'm too chicken to use!
There are so many of you that have said that cards are either almost ready to go, or are on their way. I'm looking forward to that number jumping up quickly.
My DH jokingly said that our trucker friend will have a truck load just of our cards. Wouldn't that be GREAT!?
Can you believe it?! I have another card total. Thanks to WickedWanda for her contribution and thanks to my local LSS for letting me put up a poster in their store.
