Yes, I'm definitely taking cards! Don't know how far back you read in this thread, but the Edmonton Garrison asked me to continue collecting for a deployment going in February.
We have a new total! Jacqueline your package of cards came yesterday. Boy, can you ever fit cards into that bubble pack envelope! It was lots of fun last night looking through them to sort, put with an envelope and bag them up (in packages of 10).

Hi Carolyn:
What type of cards do they want for the new deployment. Holiday type,
like Easter, Mothers Day etc.? More birthday cards etc. I can work on some more and send them out in a few weeks time.

Norma,
Yes. ;) My guess would be any card (maybe not Valentines since they wouldn't make it there and back in time and not Christmas since that's too far off now for them to use). I'm getting lots of "blank" cards which is good because then they can use them for whatever occasion they are in need of. Whatever you would like to make - that's what I will take.

Sounds good to me. I'll work on some "generic" cards and they can fill
in whatever sentiments they like. I have a few "male" type stamps so they
can send them to dad /brother/son too. Thanks Carolyn.
I was in our local paper on Friday - a full page! All in support of the card project. Isn't that cool? The reporter was at our LSS and saw some ladies making cards and she got in contact with me to get more info. I thought maybe a paragraph or something, but not a full page.

There you go, you had your fifteen minute claim to fame. And what a great cause too. This should bring in a lot more cards for you, don't you think?
Was there a picture to go with it. You should try to copy it and post here
for all of us to see. Way the go.

Maybe I've had more than that - I've been on TV 3 times and now the paper!
I'll try and get a pic of it and post it. Does it go to my gallery or do I just copy it into this thread? Anybody know?
On a sadder note, my dad was taken by ambulance this afternoon. He is very weak (still from his surgery) and my brother said he was quite pale when they took him in. I'm waiting to hear from my mom as to what they plan on doing (keeping him, or pumping him up on IV fluids then sending him home). Plus, I have kids to pick up from school in half an hour and the hospital is 45 minutes away from me.
I'm sorry to hear about your Dad. Being 45 minutes away must be very frustrating. Plus the guilt you feel when you have your family to take care of and want/need to be with your Mom and Dad.
I'll send good thoughts out to you and your family.
Thanks, SurfLola, for your thoughts. I'll be phoning soon to see how my dad is doing - figured I'd give them time to assess him and decide what's happening.
But, on the good news front - I got two packages of cards today - one from I'mHooked (Deb) and one from canstamper (Judy). Thank you so much! They were all beautiful - sometimes I like to pick a favorite, but it's getting way too hard. I must admit that I really liked the flamingo stamp, though, Judy. And Deb - the one you included that's going into the swap is one that stands out in my mind.
Thanks ladies!
Oh yeah - the reason for this post - a new card total!! 453!!

Sorry to hear your dad has gone back to hospital. I can understand your
anxiety when commitments overshadow the heart's longings. I'll be thinking
of you tonight and hoping all is well shortly for everyone.
Carolyn, here I have been pm'ing you with all kinds of questions and I didn't know your dad was so ill. My prayers go out for him and for you.
Blessings,
Connie

Don't worry about it - it kept me thinking about something else. He's still sitting in emergency waiting to be seen (went in at 1:00 this afternoon, it's now 9:00). Thanks for your prayers, though - that will do the most good!
My dad should be home by midnight. He has a touch of pneumonia and they want to get a couple hours of anitbiotics into him. All his other tests (including a strength test) came back good, so that's encouraging.
Thanks for all your encouraging words throughout the evening. It was appreciated.
Hi Carolyn - I am doing awesome!!! I cannot believe how well I feel. I guess it helps to be young and healthy when you have to go through something like this. I am only 38 so have lots of years ahead. My only problem is that I think I am superwoman and try to do too much!!!! Also, chocolate and sweet stuff is tasting a bit off!! Great weight loss!! Tee Hee!!!

Carolyn, I finished a batch of cards for you that will go out on Tuesday. Will you do me a favor and tell me which one you like the best when you get them? I have a little surprise for you for all the hard work you have put into this.
Thanks!

Sorry for taking so long to reply - it's been a crazy few days moving my MIL into a long term care facility and visiting my dad who is back in the hospital. Anyway, you have a surprise? This is cruel and unusual punishment! I'm horrible about waiting for surprises!! It's going to kill me to wait! Unfair!! ;) I'll let you know when your package arrives.
Thanks to Judy (canstamper) for her batch of beautiful cards that arrived today! My son really liked the ones with the loader and helicopter. I liked the ones with the prima flowers. They were such fun spring colors.
One of our guys in Afghanistan was seriously ingured by an IED & is being treated in Houston. You can find information on him at www.collinbowen.com An address is listed, if anyone wants to send a get well/support family. Please pray for him.
I can't find your screen name & I wanted to email you personally about what is going on. If anyone else knows her, please forward me her screen name. Thank you Tawnya
Another envelope of beautiful cards arrived from TNewhook (Tammy). Our total right now is 740!! I also have a box worth of cards from my demo who went to a team meeting on Saturday. As soon as I get them all counted I will update the thread.
I didn't get the box of cards counted yet (well, there was a shoebox in there that I got counted), but a lady dropped off a box of cards about 2 hours ago. And because of those two boxes...we broke 1,000! The card total is at 1,106!! I can hardly believe it! And I still have approximately 150 cards and a whole bunch of cardfronts to count. I'll keep you posted...
Hi Carolyn - a friend of mine is coming over next week and we are going to do some French cards. She has a couple of french sets - I am assuming birthday, thank you, thinking of you cards. I am hoping to have at least another 100 or so on the way in a few weeks along with my swap cards.

That sounds great, Jacqueline! I've been getting some french cards, but more would be wonderful. The Edmonton Garrison told me that there are quite a few french speaking soldiers going on this deployment.
Are you recuperating and feeling pretty good?
Looking forward to seeing your creations for the swap, too. Thank your friend as well.
Carolyn, if you have a french greeting and you want to stamp any of my photos cards inside with the greeting, feel free. All of mine are blank. I put a post-it on them to say they are blank inside - just remove the post it.
(this will make more sense when the arrive)

Nope, don't have any. I think the blank ones are good to just leave blank, then they can use them for whatever occasion they need. Good suggestion, though. Boy, I had forgotten your cards were on their way, now I'm going to sit on pins and needles...again! :p
BTW - my "little" girl is 15 today! I can't believe it. There's no school today, so we're going....shopping!!! (and visiting my dad).
Hi,
I just saw this thread and have a whole bunch of cards I'd love to send to you. Please email me ([email protected]) with your address if you are still accepting cards. Do you need envies too?

I will e-mail you right away. Save your postage and keep your envies. ;) Hallmark and Carlton donated two boxes of them (extras from Christmas), so I'm still working my way through them. Still almost have a full box left. Thanks, anyway.
