Just curious - are you getting any feedback from your daghter's friend? Kind of wondering which types of cards are most wanted.

Subscribing to this thread. I will try to get together some Mother's Day Cards for you. I also have some other random cards hanging around from swaps and things that I could send along. When do you need the next round of cards by? (I'm good with deadlines!) Thanks!!

I'd also love to hear what kinds of cards are most needed--might as well make those kind!

I send mostly blank, "everyday" type cards. I also include Happy Birthday cards as well several for an upcoming holiday. I will be sending Mother's Day and Graduation cards in the next box, which should be going out around March 24. I try and send about 7 weeks in advance of a holiday, as it takes 2-3 weeks for mail to travel there and another 2-3 for the cards t get back. That gives them a week or 2 to select a card, write a message and get it in the mail.

I have gotten some nice responses - the soldiers are grateful for the cards!

Thanks to all who have sent and/or plan to send - I am in awe of the talent you share!

Thanks for the update. I will try to have some Mother's Day and other cards to you by March 20th. Do they also need stamps? I will be sure to include envelopes to lighten your burden a bit. Thanks again!

Thanks!

No, they do not need stamps! They get to write "FREE" on the corner where a stamp is normally placed since they are serving in a combat zone.

Well I guess that is one benefit they get for serving. How about you? Do you have to pay to ship the cards to them? I could send a few dollars to help cover that cost.

I do pay to ship the boxes of cards; monetary donations are welcomed. I ship Priority, but since it is Military rate, so it isn't so pricey!

I will be having a craft day at my house on Thursday. We plan on making cards for the troops. Do you need the cards packaged in sandwich bags also?

I plan to send another box in a few weeks with Father's Day and Graduation cards. I always include everyday and birthday cards (mostly) but also include some baby, thank you, misc congrats, anniversary etc. As I stated in an earlier post, I am willing to take fronts and make them into full cards. Also, envelopes are nice to have, but I will provide those if you wish! Thanks!!!

So glad you got them, I haven't had any time to check on here to see if they arrived anyway. I hope to send some more in another month or so. Thank you for you nice comments on them!

I have seen advertised on NBC that GMC car dealerships are collecting cards to send over to the troops. Memorial Day is the deadline. My buddies and I are getting together this Mon. nite to make cards. We are hoping to get 100-200 cards made!
Your plan is awesome, best of luck with that! My thoughts and my prayers go out to this young man. I appreciate his service and bravery!

Many thanks for your huge box of beautiful cards - was it really *only* 200??? They arrived in great shape today - WOW that was super fast! They will be a great addition to the boxes of cards I am sending to the troops. Thank you so much for contributing to the project! I know the soldiers and their families appreciate your efforts!

I'm sending a big stack today. Sorry to take so long. My mom is in a nursing home and has had some major health issues this month.

Yeehah...they made the trip safely. It is amazing to think that:
1. The card fronts were sent to ME by ladies all over the country and Canada.
2. That they have all been made into full cards and made another trip across the country to you Jeaneen in MD
3. Now they will travel around the world to the war zone.
4. They will travel again to the soldiers loved ones.
Wow...they probably travel more than I will in a lifetime. The stories these cards could tell.

More will be coming. Thanks for letting me know they arrived safely.

I have a bunch of cardfronts from swaps. Would you be interested in these? I can also send some GP cardstock to mount the cardfronts onto. Just let me know, I'd love to help.

You got it Janeen! I have a bunch of the GP cardstock and would love for it to be used. The package may come in an SU box, so don't get excited thinking they're stamps )

Default thanks for this posting

Hi Jeaneen,
I just send you a message thru this.
If you did not get it, please let me know at [email protected]

I am new to this site and not sure if I did it correctly.

I was looking for a service project to do that is just like this.
I already have the people (small group) who want to do it... but was trying to secure a organization/place to send our handmade cards.

I would like to help out on a ongoing basis if you would accept.

Please email me if you did not get my message.
Thanks,
A form Maryland

Got your nice big box of card fronts and GP cardstock today, Melanie! Many thanks! I will have fun putting these together into cards for the troops.

My daughter's boyfriend is 'home' on his 2 week leave - just arrived last night! He goes back until October, but I will continue this project while 'we' have troops in Iraq...

Hi, I've gotten my senior stamping group to make some cards for your project. If you send me your address, I will send them to you.
Are you going to the Pennsauken NJ convention? Maybe I will see you there.

Thanks!

No, I won't be going to NJ convention. I am in Maine for the summer staying with my mom (until mid-Sept, except for a long weekend in August fwhen I come home for my uncle's 90th b'day party). I do plan to attend the convention in Westminister MD and in York PA in Sept and Oct though. Maybe we can connect again.

PM sent...

Yes, I am still collecting and sending cards to our troops in Iraq. I plan to send the next box in about 3 weeks.

I will be including Halloween cards in that box along with the everyday, birthday, thanks, etc. cards.

I have finally hit my goal of 10,000 cards donated...on my way to 20,000!
