Last week my children's 4-H club participated in the county fair. I decided to enter one of my cards and a scrapbook page. My card won Best in Show. My scrapbook page won 3rd place in the agriculture division. I was so thrilled. It is especially exciting because I have never won a contest like this before. You can see the card and scrapbook page in my gallery.

That is great! I checked out your card and it is certainly worthy of this honor.

Woo Hoo for you!! That's totally Awesome!!!!!
I've thought about joining in on our Fair stuff. But never have yet.
WTG! Isn't it fun to enter things in the fair? Well, right up to the part where they judge me. LOL While I was in your gallery, I could see why you would win, you got some awful cute stuff. Love the candle and the cap. treat holder.
Thanks for sharing
Kathy
That gives me inspiration to take some risk and participate in events.
Funny thing. I only entered my stuff so I could get into the fair for free with an exhibitor badge. My kids had to be there most of the week to help take care of the 4-H club horses. I would have had to pay 5 dollars everytime I walked through the gate with them. They got in for free because they are 4-H members. Guess it pays to be cheap!

I noticed that the ribbon said there's a "stamping and scrapping" division. That's awesome--our fair has them all in one "arts and crafts" section. There are different entries (greeting cards, stationery, scrapbooks, etc.), but they can be made from ANYTHING.
So... did you make $ with your ribbons? More $ to buy more fun goodies?!?!?! ;-)

A few years ago (like 55!!!) when I entered things in the county fair as a 4-H member, we received $1.00 for a blue ribbon, .75 cents for red and .50 for white. Have a feeling prizes have gone up a bit by now :>)
Very nice! I've always wanted to enter but I could never quite figure out the entries (stupid, I know). There are like 1,000 different categories and I just never got around to picking up the phone to call to ask for help. Maybe next year!
CONGRATULATIONS, the card is gorgeous!!!

LOL! I know a few years ago when I entered my High School classwork from my art class I think I got $5 for first but it may have been higher - I remember one year making about $50...
I really should think about looking at the categories there were this year and entering again next year.
I made a little bit of money. I had to pay 10 bucks entrance fee and made 13.00. I also won a Joann's reusable "green" tote. I think Joann's was a sponsor. Joann's home office is in our county. I guess more important than the money was the "feel good" moment of winning. I never wim anything, not even at BINGO!
