I wonder if I am the only one to do this. I just received an order of punches and to my disappointment, I got two of the same punches! I thought there was a mistake, but no--I checked my original email invoice, and sure enough, I must've accidently ordered two. This is not the first time I've done this. I now have two cuttlebug swirls folders, two plain circle nestabilities, and now two of the same punches!
Anyone else ever do this? Do I just have so much stuff that I forget what I have?
What am I going to do with it all?
I do the same thing! I'm now determined to stay more organized to avoid this problem. Friends helped me clean my craft room last week and we unearthed more doubles than I care to admit only because I had forgotten I'd already bought something.
I see you have a blog - you could always offer them up as Blog Candy, give them to friends, or keep them as a back-up.
I did that once, with a punch. I also have multiples of craft knives, scissors, and adhesives, but those are more because each one is "just a little different" than the others
But the punch you have doubles of isn't because of being disorganized - it's because of a shopping cart glitch. So don't beat yourself up over that one.
I'm terribly disorganized, but I do have pretty good lists of things that I'm afraid I might get duplicates of and I refer to them before buying. The problem is, sometimes I'm in a creative zone and have to stop everything to find a tool that I know I have somewhere. That is way frustrating.
(Hangs head in shame) No you aren't the only one. I do it with punches, stamps, paperback books, jars of mayonnaise and catsup. You name it- I've bought it when I already have it!
I think my brain is like an overloaded computer and I need to "purge" my files to make room for some new info.

I've done this on occasion too! I've "duplicated" Prisma pencils, punches, dp's, Stickles, stickers, and more! Most of my duplicates I've been able to return, thank goodness! (Some of the stuff I keep for "back-up"!)
Sometimes this happens ordering online. You don't realize the quantity field is highlighted and if you use a wheel on your mouse to scroll through the page you are actually scrolling down to a different quantity - and then you click somewhere and it sets it. I've ordered clothing the wrong size doing that.
Can't say i have ever duplicated but i have received orders before now and looked at one or two items and thought i did not order that!! what would i want that for!!
Sometimes it's for things such as papers which are totally not my taste or stuff i'd never know what to do with. I don't know where my head is or what i must be thinking sometimes when i order!
I'm guilty, too. I've ordered duplicate punches and duplicate packs of cardstock. This usually happens when I buy an item and then put it in my hostess benefits, too. Sometimes it's in a completely different order, though.

Guilty too! I finally made myself several spreadsheets with different types of items on them to help keep me straight. Guess my worst was double ordering Cricut Wedding cart. Ended up with four & still have two left because the restocking fee wasn't worth returning them!
I was ordering some stamp sets the other night; and, when I checked my shopping cart, there were things in there that I had previously ordered and received. Not sure how that happens. Cookies, I guess. Anyway, if I hadn't been really observant, I would have wound up with several duplicates. So, don't beat yourself up!
I'm guilty! I have 3 brayers! I didn't realize that I had ordered one on my main order and the 2nd on hostess benies. Ooops! Now I have 1 for dark colors, 1 for light colors, and 1 as a backup!
I haven't done it with a stamp set yet. BUT, I do it all the time with stamp pads, cardstock, stickles, markers and embellishments. I just can't keep straight what colors I have and don't have of all the different types of ink, brads, etc.
I've made a promise to myself that when the new catalog comes along, I will highlight everything I own from SU and everything new I buy. I also hope I'll be able to make lists of the other things -- but of course, then I'll forget the list when I go shopping so......

I recently ordered two of the wood background stamps when there was a sale on the CHF backgrounders. Give me 10% off and I get a little excited! I forgot that I had already added it to the shopping cart and I didn't check the little numbers. For the price of the stamp and the shiopping, it wasn't worth sending it back. I sent it to a friend of mine that lives far away - she loved it! She has four men in her family and I thought that she might need a manly background.
I once bought two of the same stamp...at the same time...in the same store. Didn't realize I'd already put it in the basket! I was also recently going back and forth on whether or not to purchase an SU set that's retiring. I was really excited the other day to discover I already own it!

I do this, and I drive myself absolutely crazy. It isn't just tools; it's almost anything. The other day, I couldn't find my blue bayou pad. I could have sworn I ordered it, but it wasn't with my other in colors. I was ready to order another one, when I found it. I guess I had used it a couple of months ago, never put it away, and forgot about it. Right now, I can't find my folder with very vanilla. I know it was out of my paper case, but I've lost track of it. I did go ahead and order more, because I can always use it up.
Yep, I'm guilty too. On several occasions, I've bought a stamp set that I already own. Hmmm...do you think it means that I have too many stamps if I don't even know what I own? But perhaps it means that I just don't get to spend enough time doing what I love :-D

Sometimes, when you buy online and you put things in your cart, then leave when you come back and shop again, the other stuff is still in there. I got two of something that way!
I have trouble with books and patterned paper. I buy tons of both and can't seem to keep track of them. For the double books I just pass them on to my friends, but since I don't have any stamping friends over here in Puerto Rico, I decided to do a patterned paper swap.
If you guys have any extra patterned paper, please consider joining my swap: Forums at Splitcoaststampers
I've never done it in the same order but I have purchased things I already have.
Ditto! I have a few duplicate punches and I also purchased a couple duplicate cuttlebug folders . I ordered some duplicate designer series paper without realizing it, but I'm sure I will have no problems in using thst up.
There's a difference between forgetting you have something and ordering it again, and accicentally ordering the same thing twice on one order. Sounds like the OP had the latter problem.
I'm embarassed to admit I am guilty of both.
But I'm happy that most often it's the shopping-basket thing, and NOT not knowing what I have. Now I check before paying, just to make sure I didn't accidentally hit Add to Basket more than once - it can happen. And I have for ever turned off One-Click ordering on Amazon, LOL.
And when it does happen, well - the extras are always good for swaps or little gifts or RAKs.

I haven't done this yet. I guess I'm such a penny pincher that I pay close attention to everything. LOL!
If you want to sell your extras, I'll buy them from you!
Been there, done that. Usually with punches and embellishments. I made an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of things but haven't updated it in over a year. I'm sure I've purchased a few things since then *LOL*

I've almost done that....I often say, Oh I would love to have that set and then look through my things and find it sitting on the shelf. I have recently begun a 3 ring binder to organize myself. I am stamping each stamp on paper and listing the name, number of stamps, retired, etc. This way I don't have to go in and physically move my stamps around to look for something or for a specific image. I am also stamping all the ink colors I own in there....and listing the accessories i have...or even punching out what I have for punches. It is a BIG job, but I think it will be worth it in the end.

LoL, been there done that, especially with color pencils/markers/ribbons. Now I take with me a list of stuff that I have when I go shopping, so I don't buy doubles, and last week happened again even though I had the list with me.

I haven't bought two of something on the same order but I can see how it could happen. My problem is worse: I was framing some pictures last weekend, and needed my mat cutter. I couldn't find it, so I had to go out and buy another one. So now I have two. At least I know where ONE of them is!!!
HEY THERE,
YOU BET. I AM ALWAYS DOING GOOFY STUFF LIKE THIS. THE MOST RECENT IS...I WAS BUMMED I DIDN'T TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE FRESH & FUN NOTES AND WHAT I'D ORDERED ALLOWED ME TO. WELL, YESTERDAY I DISCOVERED I DID ORDER THEM. I AM A GOOF. ALSO, LAST WEEK I LOOKED FOR 1/2 HOUR FOR THE 1" SQUARE PUNCH ONLY TO REALIZE THAT SU DOESN'T HAVE ONE YET.
