Default Budget Goal for 2009

What does everyone else set their stamping budget at? Per month or if you are a Stampin Up fanatic like me, per catty? Per quarter? Per year?

I don't know, but I should try, cause I spend a lot on things I don't need. For example, I bought two stamp sets at my LSS yesterday. They are great but I don't need them for any specific projects. I think I'm going to make a list of things I need and try to stick to that list. I'm also no longer going to buy anything just because its on sale (unless it is something I need).

You are supposed to stick to a budget? LOL! I was horrible when the last Stampin' Up! catalog came out, but lately I've been pretty good. Who knows what will happen with the next one LOL.

I've had to go on a budget. I get paid every two weeks and my budget is $25/pay period. The problem I have is not spending my stamp money on groceries or other necessities.

I joined a stamp 12 club with stampin up so my "budget" is a least 15.00. Being trying not to go over 25.00. But i"m also a cm consultant so my mins. are 500 per quarter. So I'm trying not to go over that a month until things get a better. Thank to my dad & sil & bil for the hobby lobby gift cards. Alas they only lasted one visit. But everything was 50 to 66% off. Yeah.

I get $100 a month in my checking account for anything I want. Most of it is spent on stamping supplies, but it is also for CD's, etc. My hubby and I both have personal accounts that we don't have to answer to the other about.

Last year I figured that $100 for a hobby should be sufficient (per month) but I decided that I didn't have to include what I paid for classes - and then I didn't want to include what I spent on the internet ------ so my "Budget" didn't last long!!! I wish you all the best of luck!

Well, I did spend alot less in 2008 than 2007...but I need a new budget. Before I know it, I usually end up spending $300 a month. I would like to cut that in half. I do use most of the stuff I buy...but my goal is to use up more paper before I buy more.

Budget???? Isn't that a dirty word????

Lol....

I tend to swap in my mind the things I do that save us money for my stamping purchases. Home haircuts for four kids: $80. Only problem with this is they were running out of hair to cut, I was cutting it so often to justify my spending.....

In terms of actual budgeting, I average around $100/month, mostly because that is my SU! minimum, or right in that range.

We don't really have a budget in our home because the two years we tried it, we found we consistently spent LESS than what we'd budgeted. We figured we were wasting our time budgeting when we just naturally are frugal people. So, no crafting budget for me. Thinking back to my spending habits, though, I spend about $200 each time a new SU or CTMH catalog comes out, about $100 when I visit the local stamp store once a year, and about $100 on supplies from miscellaneous other places (which are usually things I just stumble upon, not anything I'm actively searching out).

I'm trying not to purchase anything untill using what I've got. I have tons of pretty things to work with. I'd love to buy more. ;) But I need to make some room. The only things I'm buying are adhesive & refill cutting blades.

I have told DH that...when I spent an evening cutting his hair and all 3 kids and then my brother heard I was snipping and he was over before I could put stuff away...I said technically I should get that $100 I saved.

He said well if you are saying $20/haircut...and your haircuts are $45, coffee afterwards is $5 and a stop at Archivers is $50...well then we are even.

So sad.

Anyway...as for a budget...I get $600/month in my own account to spend on anything we don't need. Dh pays all the bills/groceries/necessities from his account. Sometimes its a sweater I had to have (I have a million sweaters) a piece of furniture I love or Pampered Chef stuff...but a lot of it ends up in the stamping department. Though I do set aside extra spending money for our summer vacation that he doesn't know about. (I highly doubt he reads this...so I can tell you...haha)

We decided to start doing that dirty word this year (just in the last couple of weeks), and have begun giving each family member an allowance. Mine is $17/wk, which isn't bad, but I'm having a difficult time banking any so I can buy some bigger items. Maybe I'll be able to justify a nice mother's day gift this year by not spending as much as I want whenever I want (within reason of course) before then. Oh, I almost forgot about Valentine's Day--surely my dh will want to buy me a nice present for that. ;-)

My goal is to pay off my small ammount of debt I have, and then use my income (I have a couple part time baby sitting jobs JUST for this hobby) and spend only that, and not use the credit card anymore It should be plenty.

I've toyed with the stamp to spend challenge, but just don't think it will work for me.

No budget, but I have so much stuff now, I told myself I wasn't buying anything until I run completely out of it, and no new punches or stamps. I have several I haven't even used yet, so no purchases for me. ---Lets see how long i last, hehe. (joking I am really going to try hard.) Both our jobs are pretty secure, but yo never know when one of us could get layed off, so I'm trying to be as frugal as possible.
