Okay,
So I was talking to my mom (NanaJenkins on SCS- feel free to RAZ her about this one!), and I started to discuss her favorite soda- SIERRA MIST. She acted like she didn't know what I was talking about... I joked her about it, told her she was "losing it" a little bit, and we moved on in conversation. Then later in our conversation, I joked her about it again, and she said that when I first said "SIERRA MIST", she thought I was talking about a cardstock color! hahahahaha-- She had been working in her stamp room all day and cardstock was ON THE BRAIN! LOL!
I mean, have you ever had a conversation with someone, and instead of concentrating on what they were saying, you were looking at their shirt and dreaming up your next color combo?
Let's talk about our biggest stamping brain farts!

I was so tired at a crop last week that I measured cs for an 8x8 album about 6 times and still cut it wrong. But I didn't think it was ME cutting it wrong, I thought the album was off....so I measured the album as everyone was laughing at me. Apparently measuring at 2 a.m. is not something I should do often.

HAHAHA-- Carrie, I totally get it. Albums can be "off", can't they? LOL

My Mom says this ALL the time, so I made her a card here.
Funny thing is, I'll be 41 on 05/01 and I'm saying this at work all the time now because of all the young chicks they have hired!! I'm OLD at work - BLAH!!!
Back to the topic = I look through design magazines at work all the time and translate colors into SU! colors!
I once said in a meeting "It's almost like Wild Wasabi only with a bit more yellow to it." SERiOUslY! I got the strangest looks!! ;)

LOL-- WE understand it! It makes sense to us nutcases on SCS!

I talk to my SIL-2-be in SU colors. Especially since she's changed her wedding colors 2 times so far. Chocolate Chip and Certainly Celery to Chocolate Chip and Sage Shadow to (the most recent change) Chocolate Chip and Mellow Moss.
Too funny! I married in October and my maid of honor was a stamper. She found a dress and brought it over and we both said, hmmm, what cardstock does it match? Elegant Eggplant!
It was a breeze buying flowers and stuff because I had the cardstock sample in my purse!
Hahaha, I've never had this issue with cardstock colors, but I was at the mall with my friend and I saw a really glittery bathing suit and I said "It looks like it was doused in some Stickles." Needless to say, he was confused. Ah, stamping talk...who can escape it? ;-)
A friend of mine dropped over and I kept staring at her shirt. I was amazed that Sahara Sand, Cameo Coral and white looked so good together! Can't remember a blessed thing she said though...

Aside from colors, I see stamp sets in so many printed skirts and tops this year. All the flourishes and flowers remind me of stamping. I walk past a gal on the street and think, "Wouldn't that pattern make a great card." Nearly ran into a rack of clothes at Fred Meyers the other day because I was looking over my shoulder at someone who had just walked by.
This is what I love about Splitcoast! I don't know many people who are as passionate about stamping as I am...other than everyone here on Splitcoast, of course! I'm glad I'm not the only one to grab color combos from clothing, to go shopping and rather than a pink shirt, it's Pretty in Pink. My SIL is getting married in June and I immediately translated her wedding colors into SU colors. So, I don't have anything new to add...just a Thank You! for helping me feel 'normal.'

I !
Too funny! I have had this happen before! I totally think in SU color terms!
BTW, I think it's awesome you and your mom are both on SCS chatting!
This is great, girls! I see that we all think in SU colors all the time! Our non-stamping friends don't get it, our husbands think we've lost it, and our children just put up their hands and say "WHATEVA"!
You are definitely helping my mom feel like she's not going crazy! haha-- Keep 'em coming!

I read the thread title quick and couldn't imagine why in the world you were coming here to tell us that Brian was farting in your stamp room LMBO
It's one of those days...
Thanks for the laugh - I so needed it...now I am LMBO!!!
I sat behind someone in church on Sunday and totally was wondering how I could translate the gorgeous floral print of her dress into a random stamped page for cards or scrapbooking. My DH too thinks it is an illness - without a cure I might add!

BWAHAHA!! In my former Sunday School class we used to write down prayer requests and our teacher would lead us in prayer at the end of the class. His wife, who happens to be my bff, is a nurse. She wrote a prayer request for a patient of hers with cancer who they discovered had brain mets (i.e. the cancer had metastasized to his brain). Jeff prayed fervently that morning for Brian Mets and we have not let him live it down!

That is so funny! My DD and I are planning her wedding in Bazzill Colours - pinecone and key Lime! We are a strange bunch
I don't know if this counts as a brain fart, exactly, but at work they put new (ugly) curtains in my office. They're mint green-- not exactly my favorite color. It finally dawned on me that brown and green (or aqua) are very trendy in paper crafting. Well, since they arrived last week, I've been to every craft store in the area trying to find some brown and green scrapbook paper that I can buy enough of to cover my bulletin boards, which then would totally make the green curtains work for me. So, ummm, yeah, I may be a little paper obsessed.
Oh, and if anyone sees any brown and green printed wrapping paper, please let me know. I can only find 12x12" paper, and I have some pretty big boards to cover. ;)
Okay everyone, I was just reading all of the comments and laughed so loud that my DH told me to quiet it down because the neighbors were complaining! I will be in my stamping room some tomorrow again so maybe I can find my "sierra mist" cs.

Have you thought of using fabric? You might have better luck finding what your looking for.
Friends are like the walls of a house. Sometimes they hold you up, sometimes you lean on them. But sometimes, it's enough to know they're just standing by.

I found turquoise and brown wrapping paper at Hallmark. That doesn't really help you, but I agree with whomever recommended fabric.

Hallmark has a cute polka-dots wrapping paper you might want to look at for your boards--it's a choc chip brown paper with dots in the following colors: White, Old Olive, Taken with Teal, and Cool Caribbean. And what's even better--it's double-sided so the other side is a brown and white zebra print. I love this wrapping paper because it matches SU cardstock perfectly. I bought the wrap in March so Hallmark stores may still have it around.
