So I went to a few stores last night to pick up a couple things. First I stopped at Staples and picked up a few of those min-composition books. I stopped by the clearance area and found a box of Staples brand A2 envelopes for $4.50! 250 count! (I checked the regular aisle and they no longer carried the 250 count box of invitation size envelopes, at least at this particular store.) They were ivory colored, and although I wish I had found white, I can't complain at all. I figure I can use them for my cards with warm-tone colored bases. I might stop by other Staples stores to check to see if they have the white ones.
Next I went to Michael's, where I also always peruse the clearance area. I stumbled across a bunch of Prima paper flowers, the "Got Flowers?" kind in the glass bottles. They were marked down to $1.99 each! I got the red/pink, yellow, blue, violet small paper flower assortments and a medium blue/browns paper flower assortment. Hope some of you can find this deal at your Michael's too.
I started this thread so that we can share our recent unexpected clearance scores and other finds. I love finding goodies and I love hearing about other people's finds too. It's like vicarious shopping. ;)
Well, the other day I won a bid on Ebay for 250+ Primas for only $5.75 which includes shipping. Hope it is a good assortment!!
The plastic container I bought at Hobby Lobby for them the other day was 30% off.
Oh, and I got 2 House Mouse stamps that were on clearance for $3.54 and $3.41 !! Can't wait to use them!!

Ooooh I'm going to have to stop by Staples now (hope you don't live in Ellicott City, *wink).
I ran into Mike's too and just picked up some clearance frames, one was $1.50 and looks like wooden planks which will be awesome for me to make something with the 'Thoughts and Prayers' tree in it. It will match the beautiful Decor Elements tree that I just put up in my bathroom (soooo kool looking, btw!). Oh yea, I love it when I plan comes together.
I also found a cute leaves punch from EK success (like the sizzix SU die, only much smaller). It was $4, about half off.
I'm glad you started this thread, we need some good ole enabling, since the Target Dollar Spots must have different buyers, and there are seldom stampable things in there any more!
I have been looking for those acrylic photo frames to make post-it thingies. None of the $1 or $.99 stores I went into had them but I was in Joann's for something else so went down a frame aisle and found the 4X6 (the size I was looking all over for) for 60% off (I bought all they had for $.79 apiece.) Also, found some at WalMart for $1.00 so bought all they had also. (I know that it sounds like I'm going 'frame crazy' but the total is only about 24.) Have used some as party favors and will use the others to sell at our church bazaar in Oct.
Well, mine is the opposite.... my friends and I had a"craft supply" sale today. It was mostly scrapping and stamping and we did awesome. Way better than I thought we would. We had about 100 stamp sets and we did not pack that many up.
About a month ago I got a 48 pack of Prisma Markers for $10.97 at Office Depot. This week I got a small bottle of gesso at Mike's for a penny. Mike's clearance are not always marked correctly. This a.m. I went to a garage sale and got some great cardstock for .10 a piece and some envelopes for .25 a bunch. I'm going broke saving money!
A few months ago I found an awesome deal on copics at the local art store. I got a pack of 120 for about $80 and a pack of 36 (I think) for about $45. The only thing that was missing were the cases because they got damaged. I love them and it surely was the best deal I've ever found.
I almost didn't get them, but DH talked me into it.

" I'm going broke saving money" made me laugh because my MIL never tells my FIL how much things cost.....just how much money she "saved" him.
...seriously drooling over the awesome copics deals... but I digress.
No enabling here (since it was so long ago), just have to share: Last year I got the Quikutz Squeeze with the Moxi Alphabet brand new at HL. It was 9.99 and I used a 40% off coupon on it. Got the whole set for $6. Even though I hardly ever use it, and would never buy it full price, I couldn't pass up that kind of deal!
I got some Martha Stewart eyelet edge cards (40 count) with envelopes at Big Lots today for $2. They will make great card fronts and the envelopes are nice and thick. I thought it was a great deal!

Well, this was an after Christmas clearance but one of the only "deals" I've come across. WalMart had their holiday Martha Stewart punches for 75% off. I bought one of each, of course! I got five of them...a snowman, Christmas tree, holly leaf, dove, and a snowflake. They were $2.50 each. I don't know if I'll ever use them much as they are small. What do you do with a teeny, tiny snowman or Christmas tree??? I've used the dove a number of times as it just looks like any bird really.

Inchies?
Sounds like some simple cards or borders can be made from them (positive or negative images)
I love finding good deals. I found one of the two alphabet sets I wanted for my CB on clearance at HL for $17 and a set of Nesties at another HL for $5, but I think my favorite find was a 3'x5' banker's desk for a workspace at Salvation Army for $45.

You know, I've been wondering what is going on lately with the dollar spot. I was never lucky enough to get there in time to get a mailbox - not even one. Your theory of a new buyer makes a lot of sense. Every time I actually do find something there that I like, it turns out to be a $2.50 item, not a dollar item.

I don't even know what gesso is, but for a penny, I would buy it anyway. ;)

I got the same deal on Staples A2 envelopes. I thought it was wrong since it was on the shelf for $16.99. So I sent my DH back to grab another package! What a deal!
I have two that stand out, one was over a year ago when I got 4 boxes of SU & CM stuff from an estate sale I saw on CL. The whole lot was $200 and I knew it was a steal...but when I actually started digging through it, I decided to Ebay it all, since there was nothing I was in need of. It included some rare sets: Wolf, Tractor Time, Equestrian Dream...and many more. Anyway I listed the whole batch on Ebay and it sold for a total of about $1000!
Then last fall I got a set of 160 Copic Sketch for $160! So I sold off my new doubles. Again this was an ad on CL! I still search CL every morning for good deals...my main income comes from buying and selling campers on there, but a few scrapping items now and then are fun!

Gesso is sold with art supplies and is used for things like priming a canvas before painting. Here's a link to the SCS tutorial for Gesso Resist: Gesso Resist Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers
Awesome thread! My most recent find was at a yard sale. Actually, my mother in law found some SU stamps for me at a yard sale. She bought me SU Bear Necessities for $2 and SU Christmas Cheer for $1.
Last year she found me Santa's Elves for .50 cents- this one is foam mounted and I like the wood mounted stamps better, but it's a cute set so I kept it.
This weekend while I was at HL getting some new tape for my tape gun, I picked up several things that were not on sale. When I got up to the cash register the clerk told me that because it was after 6:30pm on Saturday and they were already putting out the sale signs for Monday, they honor the sale price for next week on puchases made that evening. Lucky me. Just a heads up if you are ever going to HL.
Well, my steal is not craft related :(. However, my Dh have been "redoing" our kitchen for about a year - needlessto say it ain't got very far.
Went to Best Buy yesterday, just to do something and DH found our new gas stove! It is a GE Cafe - retail was $ 2799.99 - it was the floor model - not a scratch, ding nothing for $ 1259.00 !!! It is a combo convection and regular oven. has 4 burners, plus the big one in the middle for grilling etc the really neat thing is that all the controls are on the front of the stove - you don't have to reach across to the back.
I can not wait to use it!

There is a shop here that has a 70% off section. Once in a while they will give you an extra 10% off on top of the 70% off. This weekend I stopped in to check it out and picked up 2 MFT stamp sets for a total of just over $9 (including tax). The were regular $18 a set.

Thanks for the tip. I went to one Staples and didn't see any in the clearance section so I went to the second Staples which didn't have a clearance section at all. I found the envelopes on the shelf at $24.99. I took them to the front counter to ask how much they were and I am now the proud owner of 500 A2 envelopes for $9.98. I didn't think to ask if the white ones were on sale. I might go back and see if they are and exchange them. Not a bad deal at all!!
Ok, I went to Staples to find the envie deal and didn't think to get them from the shelves...
BUT... I did see a set of Prismacolor Markers (12 pack) on clearance for $31, even though that's half off I can't spend that but I took them to the front and had them scan them anyway and VOILA... they were only 6 bucks!!! I'm so tickled! They work just like Copics and even thought the colors are strong they add to my collection! WOW 12 markers for the price of one copic! AWESOME!!
Now I still gotta go back and try to find those envelopes!

I have purchased several of the foam sets really really cheap at yard sales. I used to really hate them, but for a dollar would put up with them. I discovered that if you pull the rubber off of the foam, throw the foam away (I have not found a good use for it yet) and then mount the rubber onto cling and trim it down, you have an absolutely wonderful SU set cling mounted ready for a CD storage case and it was a huge savings. I purchased SU Happy Trails from ebay for $12.00 including shipping this way because no one wanted the foam mounted. I use my set all the time and have no annoying edges like you do if you leave them mounted on the foam. I have unmounted almost all of stamps and am in the process of finishing up this timely chore.
My best find in stamps is on CL. Someone had 28 SU stamp sets listed for $125. There was a list of the sets, half of which I already had, but the other half were ones that I really wanted and had wanted for a long time including, are you ready for this?? SU "Wild, Wild West". This was missing the spur stamp, but the rest of the set was brand new unmounted. (I have 2 different spurs from other sets and manufacturers that will work just fine). I have wanted this set forever, but refused to pay ebay prices. I had never heard of SU when it originally came out in the catalog. I resold all the duplicate sets on ebay and made $118. So basically I got Wild Wild West along with about 12 other sets for a total of $7.00. I was so excited, I called my friend and had to brag about it. I do not plan on ever selling it.
Just a heads up for everyone about Michaels... I was just there today and they have a ton of their K&Company collections on clearance.
I found the Actopus to Zelephant stuff by designer Jenn Ski and was ecstatic to find an acrylic clear stamp set for the collection!
Original price $14.99, clearance price for $4.97, and I was able to use a coupon for it!
I pasted a picture of the set below. It's so clever since every letter is made from a matching animal (A for ape, B for bear, C for catfish, D for dolphin, etc!). Super cute set with 26 letters, some punctuation, and 8 cute animal non-alphabet stamps too!
Keep an eye out for it! At my Mike's it wasn't in the clearance area yet and was still on the displays with the rest of the collections.
Ok, so its not stamping related, but I know many of you with kids will totally appreciate this one. I was at CVS today waiting for a prescription so I walked over to the end of one aisle that has clearance items. I spied the largest container of powdered baby formula that is usually $19.99 for only $1.99. There were two cans so I grabbed them. Then there were bottles of liquid formula for get this, 67 cents each! There were 11 of those. None of them were even close to being expired at all. I looked at the receipt and it said that I saved $103 on the formula. See the funny thing is, is that I don't have babies anymore! I bought it for the local food bank that I support. It cost me $11.60 something for all of that formula. It wasn't going to make or break me by any means and I can't imagine not being able to feed your baby.

HIGH FIVE TO YOU!!
What a generous thing to do! I am a firm believer in the concept of paying it forward, and if nothing else .... kharma!
Hey Stardust1, what kind of coupon did you use on these stamps? I didn't know they would let you use one on clearance items. I bought the same stamps but I wish I could have saved even more.
