Enabler alert! This could inspire someone to create a new product that we all must have - Brad Panties! Yes, ladies, cover those brad butts up! Avoid social disgrace, shame and the humiliation of your brad butt hanging out for all the world to see! Coming to a LSS near you - walk, don't run and buy Brad Panties! Available in Granny, Bikini, and Thong styles!
I imagine little stickers in assorted colors shaped like underpants. I might just call Joy Magnano and see if she needs any new ideas for inventions!
And for the record, I cover my brad butts if I can with another layer but don't go out of my way to add another one just to cover them.

This is so funny - brad butts! Can't wait to tell me sister that one. My two cents worth though, I don't like me "brad butts" showing either, I usually always find a way to cover them up.
I would never be annoyed by anyone sending me or giving me a handmade anything. I actually think a handmade item shows a tremendous amount of thought and then to think that person did it for me? WOW! Mind boggling! It's not a matter of annoyance, it's a matter of doing your very best, using your gift, your talent to the very best of your ability. I never really thought about it before this post, and now that I have, for me I will probably finish the inside of the card. for someone else, it perfectly okay for them not to finish. Neither is right or wrong, it's just how different people operate. And thank goodness we are all different!

Ladies, you have outdone yourselves - I got up to go to need a lift and find a depression group, and I still may, but stopped here and got the laugh of a lifetime with BRAD BUTTS and BRAD PANTIES. Thanks a bunch!!! BTW I like mine hidden for professional finished look.
I just sent an urgent email to my stampin' buds. Having coined a new term I am now famous and will therefore need to disguise myself and dodge the paparazzi.

Oh no something else for me to obsess over....brad butts. I was just worried about my own butt.....but now.....brad butts. I am sure I have exposed the odd butt (can you be arrested for this?)

I used to be worried about those brads butts since I tend to cut myself on anything sharp or pointed. I didn't want someone who got my card to get hurt. I think now I will go "butt showing" from now on since the majority of you talented ladies do it too.

That's a mighty fine picture of Brad. But no butt! Well, this was an interesting thread. I LOVE Beate's card and was just curious if she left the prongs out. I sometimes clip them off and glue the brad down, but this is a royal pain, IMO. Hee Hee. I am still laughing over this thread. And Beate, no one was offended by your GORGEOUS card. Who could be offended by anything you make? It was simply the sample I had on hand to show what I was talking about. Hope all is ok that I used your card as the example. I love the brads in this position on cards, but because I am a brad-butt cover-up girl, I was wondering how to hide the prongs, aside from the glue idea.
I would never turn down a handmade card with naked brad butts...
One of my OWN personal issues is that when I am making a card, no naked brad butts.
(Val - make sure that there is enough room around the brad legs for sticky strip, and the corners won't peel up on the layer)
Jan, leave it to you to post the most beautious brad...
Kathy
Oh. much too much work for lazy ole me. I've never had anyone complain about my brad butts showing, whether they are just a card for someone or a customized order. I do always make certain they are flaring exactly the same, horizontal.

So your butts show but only if symmetrical? Do you tape the backs of your butts like contestants in beauty pageants, cause my butt brads twirl otherwise???

I never really thought of it as an issue. I personally when making a card don't like things showing (except maybe ribbon- because I haven't found a way to camouflage that), but when receiving or seeing other peoples cards it's pretty much a non-issue to me. I just enjoy getting someone else's craft or viewing it somewhere and don't really think about what is showing or not showing.

*spew* Nope, no tape, LOL, just a tap with whatever is handy (usually my Silent Setter is handy, or my bone folder) to clamp them a bit. Just clench those little butt brads and you're good to go.

I personally don't show my butt.. heehee... BUT I would NEVER ever in a million years be annoyed with someone who sent me something handmade that did show theirs. ;)
Those small wire cutters used for jewelry making work beautifully for cutting of the brad 'butts'.
I think showing or not showing, it's all fine. I'm just happy to get a homemade card and know that someone put forth so much effort for me!

I'll tell you what~~here in California it is 1:00 AM and I am sitting at my computer, pounding on the table, and wiping tears from my eyes. There is nothing like a laughing fit to end the day!!! Time to giggle myself into bed

I always hide the brad and eyelet butts. If I am not using a layer over the base card then on the inside of the card I will place a piece of coordinating cardstock to cover them. It makes the inside of the card look nice too. I always feel so bad for the inside -- usually looks so plain.

Oh, I'm not afraid of a little 'indecent brad exposure'! I'm kind of an old fashioned type of gal and tend to hide my brad butts, but LOVE to live on the wild side when I get cards from stampers who don't!! :-)
