I'm teaching an after school "enrichment" stamping class. The grade levels are K-2. Lo and behold, I have 9 boys in the class and 6 girls! I couldn't believe it!
So I'm trying not to get too girly or flowery with my very, very simple projects. We only have an hour. For the first class, I did the hot chocolate holder where you pull it up out of a sleeve. We used snowmen stamps for that and everything was pre-assembled and matted. They only had to stamp and color. It was a big hit!
Now I'm stumped. I'm going to do notebooks from Target because boys and girls will like those. I will also do labels covered over Hershey nuggets.
Are there any other ideas you can think of that are SUPER EASY and NOT TOO GIRLY, but something that boys and girls will both like?
Thank you so much in advance!!!!

I taught K, first and second grade and am also surprised that you have that many boys. At that age though, they usually just like to make things and aren't usually saying that it's too girly.
You could do the peppermint patty covers if you have the right punches. They may be a little bit girly, but you can always use "manly" colors for the scallops - it's candy, so they should like it. There are also Hershey bar covers - again food, so they will like it!
Anything a little bit girly can be made under the "this is a present for your mom, grandma, sister, etc". I've found that kids that age LOVE to give gifts to their parents and extended family.
Are you going to let the children do the stamping themselves or are you going to stamp and let them put it together? I have found you can do so much more if you stamp images for them and then give them the supplies and let ehm create. if it is valentines theme you could make the heart shape and a nother cut out from clear or colored vinyle punch holes in both so the holes match up use ribbon so they can sew them together and fill it with candy for mom or granny or both you can stamp an image on the card stock and maybe slap a magnet on the back so it turns into a pictured fridge magnet when the candy is gone. they could also create a pen with the paper stamped cut and put in the tube, stamp set that boys would like too is the boat loads of love fish or bugs even monkey business they would have fun with.colors are great with this age bold brights and browns. and at this age they like to color so big images they can color in works good too.a treat bag with a topper would be fun because they can fill it with what ever you have for them. If you take pics of them and let them make a picture frame. Good luck and enjoy and have fun!!!~~~bluegirl~~
Explosion boxes are "cool" to that age group. Pre-cut & scor, and then you could do as you did with the hot chocolate holder - stamp & colour. Throw in a few hard candies and they will think its the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I have a ribbon book mark on my blog that is really simple, certainly suitable for this age group. The one I have up is pretty girly, but change the ribbon to twill tape, and put a different stamp even a monogram, and it could work for boys. Have a look and see if it might work.
my boys think stamping on shrinky dinks with staz on and coloring with sharpies is the Greatest! Well, they actually think the shrinking part (done in the toaster oven at this age) is the greatest. Be sure to punch out a hole first though, so they can hang it from their backpack or zipper pull!

oops... forgot to add my other idea. I save magnets (or you can buy sheets at the dollar store) and have my boys cover them with plain cardstock which is stamped and colored with images of their choice.

What great ideas tillyhead! I like the shrinky dink zipper pulls and charms especially.
What about something pirate related? The Ahoy Matey set is really cute and the boys (and girls for that matter) could do pirate related Valentine's Day cards.
You guys are the best! I knew I could count on everyone to come up with clever ideas.
I have lots of shrinky dink paper left over from when SU used to sell it and I NEVER use it. Now I can use it up!! That would be cool.
I do try to have them stamp the stuff themselves because it's fun, but also because one of my helpers stamped for a student the student got upset that she didn't do it herself! LOL.
That bookmark ribbon looks super easy....mmmmmmm
You all got me thinking....
