Default Box for tile coasters

Does anyone have a good pattern for a box to put at least 4 tile coasters in (4")? I am doing a workshop in my home for coasters and would like to be able to make boxes for them to take the coasters home in.

Thanks for all your help.

What about those paper mache boxes you can buy at Walmart, Michaels, etc... I have heard there is a size that works and you can stamp on them to match the tiles.

Default Boxes and Tile Coasters question

A friend of mine recently used file folders to create sturdy boxes for some of her creations. If you are good at box making that might be a possibility. There are also tons of cheap christmas boxes around at dollar stores this time of year that might work. The square jewlery types work nicely for such.

I am just getting started at all this stamping fun with tiles. I have read so many different ways to do it that I am not really sure which direction to take.

I have 4x4 rough feeling tiles. I have staz-on to stamp the images but after that I am not sure how to color them. I have SU chalks, SU markers and regular SU ink plus the whole color line of Sharpies. Which do you use? Or do you?

I also have read everything from 300 degrees to 400 to bake them and spray them with a sealant...

I am so confused as to how to make the tiles without ruining them.

Any words of advice?

Merry

Merry, stamp with Staz-On and color with Sharpies. That way they stay absorbant and you don't have to seal. The last ones I did I didn't bake. I just stamped and let dry overnight and then colored.

I have used the boxes from the catalog. They are the large gift boxes on page 221 of the current SU! catalog. They are 3 for $2.95, then you can stamp on them too!

I got my tiles at Menards - and on the shelf were boxes that the "fancy" tiles come in. I asked if I could take a few and they said sure. They are the exact size to hold 4 tiles.

I bought a wooden box that is exactly the right size from Michaels. I stamped on the box to match up with the tiles - it makes a solid storage for the coasters when they are not being used and should last as long as the tiles! I gave the box a light spray with the same fixative as i did on the tiles and it gave the box a very nice warm color!

I use the medium gable boxes. I stamp to match the coaster theme usually. I line with tissue paper then stack one on top of the next with tissue paper in between! HTH. My customers have loved this.

We had our demo Christmas party and one of the gifts was the coasters made out of tiles and the woman found the box at pier one and they were decorated and worked great for the coasters.

i used the box that the tiles came in. What i did was put 3 of the 4 tiles in the box, with tissue paper in between each one, then in the "window", or the open square on the front of the box, i put the 4th tile facing out, so that the person getting the gift can see one!! i did stamp the box too, since it was white, but you can leave it white, if thats the color it was. Did i make sense???? it is late...i tend to babble when i get sleepy.....lol

There is a square box you can get at Micheals that will hold 4 tiles perfectly - the cost is $1.99 for the box but sometimes you can get them on sale for .99 (or just use a 40% off coupon to lower the price) it is back with the wooden boxes. the top just flips open -

I just stamped directly on the boxes with stazon (was a stamp that you didn't have to color in to make it look nice) and viola...

I was also in Ben Franklin the other day and I they have a variety of X-mas boxes in square sizes that would probably do the trick

Well I found an Explosion box pattern on SCS, and modified it to fit the coasters and it works GREAT!!!!! It's perfect. Inexpensive and easy to make. Thanks for all your help. You are all wonderful!!!

Wish me luck, there are going to be over 30 tile coasters made at my workshop, and 1/2 dozen trivets.
