Default Black watercolor

Can anyone tell me how to do black watercolor? I have tried the SU black ink and marker, but it just turns purple. I can't seem to get the prismas and gamsol to look very good either. I am trying to color the little dog from Paris in the Spring black, but the markers are too dark. I love the look of watercolor but I am not sure I have seen anything watercolored black. Thanks!

Either the black watercolor pencil or crayon will work very well. With the crayon just color the outlines and then use the watercolor brush to paint the color in so it doesn't get too dark. You can always add more color as you go.

Another option is the black craft ink. It's a little more opaque than classic, so test it out first.

Oh wow I had no idea there was black craft ink! I don't have the wc crayons, but I just tried the wc pencils and it was ok...just doesn't look vivid enough to me. I will definately have to try the black craft ink though. Thanks!!
