I was working on my holiday cards and started to stack the stamped paper on my coffee table. The first card I stamped had a mistake on the first side so I flipped the card over for a redo and then set it on the table. After finishing the stack, the ink from the mistake-side of the first card left an impression in the coffee table finish, which is black with a sheen to it. So I can't see the ink, just a watermark of the stamp I was using.
I tried cleaning it with all sorts of things, no luck.

Anyone know how (or whether) I can get this out?
Thanks!
Try non-acetone nail polish remover. It won't eat the finish of your table, but try a bit on the underside of the table on some of the finish to be sure. Clorox Clean-up works amazing on linoleum, but again try it on the underside on some of the finish to see first. OH, hey, what about StazOn cleaner? Best of luck!

i would try an easer. then damp cloth w/ dish soap.
my furniture books say try toothpaste. or mayo. really both have worked for me in the past.
then polish the furniture well.
I was giggling too, the thought of Giga-Guidelining the entire table did cross my mind.
So I don't think the ink itself went off the card onto the table, I think this might be more like a water stain from the moisture of the ink. Anyway, I tried Simple Green, rubbing alcohol, toothpaste, and finally the mayo, which seems to be working. And my table is shinier than it has ever been! It may not have removed the stain, but it's covering great!
I don't have the PTI ink remover, but I am not sure it will work. Another tip I read online said that cigarette ashes (+ oil or water or mayo) might work, but I don't have any of those around.
Everyone here on SCS is the best!! Thank you all so much for putting up with all my mishaps--this isn't my first and I am sure it's not my last!
I feel your pain. I had a nice black coffee table once and I wasn't thinking and set the lid from my nail polish remover on it and then I had a nice ring on the table. I bought a marbling kit and re-did the table. Came out great, but that was 15 years ago and the table has since gone to the good will store.
I spilled red nail polish on my bathroom floor; and, of course, some went into the grout. I've tried everything and still have some pink grout. Guess I'll have to live with it. Glad you seemed to have gotten your ink/moisture out.

You could try Mr Clean's Magic Eraser... I use it on my own grout with mild (not total) success.

the cigarette ashes also work well.
as for the mayo. tried using again. maybe enev a few times. let it sit quite awhile before wiping off.
i would be afraid to try anything too harsh-mr clean, ink remover, etc. i would have to know i could try inside a drawer or even on the bottom. they maybe just to harsh.

Oh dear *alarmed look*, NO I did not mean to suggest Mr Clean (very harsh!!) on the coffee table!!! I meant it for Wanda's grout!!!!
I had a starzon ink pad on my table next thing I knew my cat walked onto
the pad and I had paw marks all over my table I used mr cleans magic
eraser and it did just fine but dont rub to hard or to long on that spot
because it could take of the varnish off if not careful. good luck!
