Default Best way to destash?

I haven't stamped in at least five years, and have hundreds of A Muse Artstamps stamps that I'd like to finally send on to greener pastures. I was wondering if any of you have advice on the best place to destash. For fabric, quilters generally destash on etsy, but I think the main traffic they get is off their blog, and since I have a sewing blog, not a stamping blog, it might not be the best? Does ebay work out well for used stamp lots? How about Craigslist? I saw the buy/sell forum here, but I imagine it would be hard to sell anything since I have never been a part of the community. Any advice/thoughts would be much appreciated--I'd like to free up the space and cash for my other hobbies!

I personally think EBay is a good choice, since I have purchased almost all of my SU stamps that way. I have purchased a few sets from other companies, but mostly I search for SU. You could do some searches and see how your sets seem to be going, or search for past sales to see how they have sold in the last few months.

I haven't ever done anything on the Buy/Sell/Trade forum, so perhaps someone else could give you their thoughts on using it to sell stamps. Best of luck in whatever you decide!

I cleaned out a bunch of sets on eBay by posting lots that fit in Flat Rate Priority boxes. I grouped them by art style. I figured a new stamper might want one Christmas, one all occasion, one floral, one nature, and so. As opposed to selling all the Christmas together, all the floral together.

I photographed all the sets together: once face up and once face down. Amount of use (staining) is important to some. Also, take the time to list all the sets by name. Someone desperate for one set might buy the whole lots.

In the end, I sold two of the stamp lots for about what I thought, one for nearly double. I did search eBay with the set names to get an idea of what they were going for. Not to have to list and pack separately made it worth it.

You might want to search the In Search Of forums (ISO), too, just in case you have a very rare set. Sell that one separate. Good luck!

do you know other stampers in your area? I've had a lot of success with in home stamp yard sales.

Thanks everyone! The A Muse stamps are hard because they aren't sets, but individuals, so listing them by name is what I should do, but with 200 stamps and a lot of them retired there's no way I could handle it!

I think I'll try selling them locally first and then go the ebay route--I like the idea of bigger lots that fit into the envelops--all those little paypal and ebay fees add up!

I have bought many stamps through Craigslist (free for the seller!) but really appreciate seeing pictures rather than stamp names. I would rather do that than buy from ebay if I have the option. Good luck!

I didn't have much luck with craigslist but did do well at a LSS yard sale. One of the LSS around me charges 20.00 for the table space and you sell your own stuff. I know another LSS gives you store credit for your sales. So you may want to check any LSS close to you to see if they do this. I prefer making my own sales and not store credit.

I would find someone who would love to stamp, but can't afford it, and give some to that person. Then, I would try to sell the rest...probably on ebay, or even have a craft yard sale...advertised as such...and see what happens.

I have had a couple of yard sales and specifically mentioned stampin up in the ad. I did really well both times but I had things priced low to encourage people to buy in quantity. I have tried buy/sell/trade but without a lot of luck. People seem to be looking for specific sets so it takes a while to move things. Good luck with your destash. You can always donate some to a school or church.
