The other night I was making a card and I really wanted to use a piece of crimped paper. I tried three times and it kept turning and getting crooked (I think it's because it was actually two pieces taped together so it was pretty thick). I was about to give up when my hubby walked in so I asked him for a hand. He held and turned the crimping tool while i fed it through to make sure it came out straight. APARENTLY this tool is the coolest tool in the world because he couldn't get over how great it was! He had to look at it from all angles and put a few pieces of scrap paper through it... it was really funny! Then he says "I should make a card." Well of course I kind of blew it off... let me just say this, my hubby is into Football, hunting, fishing, beer, wood carving, playing football on the PS2 and for a living he is a technician, yes he fixes things... he is what you would call a "manly man." So I blew it off because he couldn't possibly be serious!
So tonight he went with me to AC Moore so I could use two of the Michael's coupons in one trip... while there we had a little conversation that went something like this,
"I've been thinking about the card I'm going to make all day!"
I'm thinking "hahahaha! All day??!!"
"I know exactly what I'm going to make, but I can't tell you cuz you'll take my idea and make it first."
I'm thinking, "I'm going to steal your idea?"
"So can I make my card on Saturday and you have to watch me, you can't make one of your own."
Now he's got a little more of my attention and I ask, "why can't I stamp while you make your card." Thinking to myself how could I possibly sit in front of my stamping stuff for that long without using it?
"Because I'm going to need help and you can't be distracted."
I kind of laughed and the conversation ended there... However.... he kept picking things up through out the isles looking at them, I'm sure to see if there was something he wanted to put on "his" card.
Needless to say now I'm anxious to see if he will actually sit down and make a card now. :O)
Earlier as I was browsing the galleries he sat beside me and asked if he could see cards that had the crimped paper on them.... so I searched the gallery and he spent about 20 minutes checking out these cards and making me leave coments for him!
OK, this is so, so cute! I can't wait to hear how things go on Saturday and see how his card turned out! Tell him we're all excited to see what he creates.

I will... not sure if he's going to be embarrased by knowing I put this post up or if he's going to get more excited about it. :-D
Isn't it great?! My DH hasn't sat down and stamped, yet, but he's very good at giving me constructive criticism on my marginal designs...He's usually right, too! He keeps up a pretty healty interest in all the stuff I show him, and that's a lot! LOL! Bless these guys!
Funny, my demo had the same thing happen with her husband! Men and their toys eh? Mine just likes the 2 step stamping so he'll do a couple of things now and then though he still doesn't get how I get so obsessed with it.
LOL I thought the same thing about my DH. He is a soldier. What soldier actually stamps? I mean he blows stuff up for a living (he is a combat engineer). Well he reluctantly made a card for a VSN challenge he and I hosted together back in August. It was shaving cream technique challenge. He had so much fun and said he wanted to do another one. He has been so busy training though he hasn't had time. But here is his card: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers He was in the dog house because he forgot our anniversary. So he partly made it trying make up for forgetting. He used my favorite colors which were also our wedding colors.
Make sure to post your DH's masterpeice when he is done with it. I always love seeing what the men in our lives stamp.

Nice surprise! I bet lots of guys have an artistic "bent". They But they've been taught that it's a "girly" thing.
My hubby was a dairy farmer, football fanatic, watched every sport on ESPN..... but he was also a talented artist. He painted pictures in acrylic. He designed a larger than life-size nativity scene for our church -- copied after one of the old masters. His photography talent was phenomenal........
oh, shoot, now I'm missing him again. I guess you never get completely "over" the death of a spouse. Sorry for the sidetrack. It just pops up at the weirdest times!
I love this thread too funny! My hubby took my crimper and made paper potato chips. He does good in letting me know what a card is missing if I ask him and he does good when I show him cards. He pretends to be intrested! I have 2 little boys so hopefully I can get them stamping!
My dh suddenly got into scrapbooking. Let me tell you, I went to sleep knowing that I had a full snail, a full box of sticky squares, two refills for my Michael's tape thingy and a roll of velum tape......when I woke up, it was all gone.
Other than that I must say it is a lot of fun to scrapbook and stamp with my dh doing it too.
Just want to say this thread is cracking me up...I've had a good little giggle with each of your DH stories!! I bet mine would enjoy making cards/scrapping too...but he'd never admit it!

My DH has done this to me too! He loves making cards, it is so nice to spend time crafting with them! I wonder if my dh has met the crimper? Maybe I will interduce them...........lol

How nice! I don't know if I'd love it or hate it if my hubby started stampin or scrapin all the time.... we definatly would need more space! hehehe. My hubby's soooo busy with working full time and going to school full time I'm sure he won't pick it up... but he's on break from school right now, so he's probably just bored! He has said many times he wants to make me stamps... he is very interested in that! Haven't recieved any yet though so I'm hesitant to think it will ever happen!

LOL! Your story just cracked me up! Thanks for the laugh I so needed! I have enjoyed reading through this thread and think it's wonderful when our DHs take an interest in our craft, whether it's stamping, critiquing, helping us capture our cards digitally for uploading, etc.
Lindsidawn, thanks for starting the thread and sharing your darling story about your husband. I think it's too cute! I'm going to show this thread to my DH.
JGarnet, I'm sorry for the loss of your husband. I don't know if his passing was recent or not, but in you're in my thoughts.

My DH does this...he looks through the gallery with me and says, "oh I like that one...can you write that I like that one?" and his tastes are so different than mine! LOL!
Now, to actually MAKE a card...um, probobly not. I'm anxious to see your DH card!
Think he digs all the cool tools!! Does he have a twin brother my age??? ;) I would be doing hand springs down the hallway if I had a guy interested in stamping and cardmaking!

A few years ago I was making Christmas cards trying to decide which ones I wanted to make for our friends. So, I took a few over to my DH and he critiqued them nicely. I sat down and started making our usual pile of cards and was about 15 min. into it when DH walks in and says he'll help, but I have to give him his own materials so that he can make HIS cards. He made the cutest card! I didn't save a copy (darn it!) but it was somehow Rudolf flying through a blizzard. All you could see were the antlers and his red nose and he made snow flakes all over the rest. I know it doesn't sound right, but trust me, it was adorable. Genius really and sooo easy to make! Well, he shows me and I say, "Great! Let's make those!" but he shakes his head and won't let me use his supplies. They're HIS now and he wants to make them himself. Woohoo! We sent out about 40 cards that year and I got maybe 3 comments on my cards - he was complimented on every single one of his. Go figure!
I have never let him forget that! He cracks me up!

Oh I also wanted to say.... I think I understand what the card looks like and it sounds really cute!

What a fun thread this is! I can't wait to see the finished product. My DH cut the cardstock for our Christmas cards and he'll help in any other way if I ask, but I can't get him interested in making cards. Maybe I'll have to buy a crimper!

I had made some gift bags for by cousins birthday last month and my hubby helped by cutting the paper w/my sizzex machine... he complained the ENTIRE time! The only reason I was able to get him to help is that I was because I only had a few hours to finish it and it was really late.....
So then I was into getting the Cuttlebug crazy and we had to drive to four diffenent stores to get it, which he was totally annoyed with! He didn't understand why I wanted another die cutting machine... so I brought it home and showed it to him and he totally loved it! He cut a few things then said to me, "why didn't we get this BEFORE I had to cut all those squares out for you???"
We've all got the stamping bug. My dh, son, and I made our own holiday cards. Each of them used their own stamp sets. My son (12) made explosion cards! He has Non-verbal Learning Disorder, and one of the symptoms is poor fine motor skills. I'm so proud of him for doing these!
My dh has bought some of his own stamps, papers, tools, etc. I don't recall what it was that drew him in, but I'm pretty sure it must have been a tool.

That is soooo awesome! I would totally be proud of my son for doing that too! I didn't realize how many men are into our craft in one way or another. I have yet to see a guy totally adicted like a lot of us ladies here are... but it is great how into this they can get!
You all don't know how much I've enjoyed reading everyone's comments here! I've had such a crummy day yet everytime I get a response here I smile or laugh. I love hearing all the storys about the men and children in our lives that have taken to our hobby in some way, shape or form! I'm soooo glad I posted this last night! :-D

My ex used my crimper once and got addicted. He started crimping every scrap piece of paper, receipt, etc. in the entire house. It was too funny! That tool just appeals to men for some reason. Can't wait to see his creation!
Yup!!! My DH is like that too! I know that he has always been interested in my hobby (scrapping and stamping). He never buy storebought cards anymore, he would kick me out and he make birthday card for me. It' sooo cute! He does the same with anniversary and valentines as well. He also made mother's day card. He refuse to let me scan them in. He knows which paper to use because I wouldn't let anybody touch my Wild Aspargus or Basic Grey stuff! He says that he paid for them anyway (that's true...I'm a stay at home mom). He loves looking thru my SU and non SU stamp collection. I have about 250.
