Check out my Blog! - The Fishy-Scrapper's Chronicles
As a teacher, I spend a TON on supplies and such out of my own pocket, but the worst items? Pencils and glue sticks! I teach 2nd grade and the glue sticks are forever drying out and I am fairly certain the pencils are eaten! LOL
*I'm gonna chime in on the SHARPENED pencil bouquet.*
LOVE the idea of the pencils, but would SO appreciate someone else taking the time to sharpen them...it's one of my least favorite things to do and last year I replaced too many pencil sharpeners to have my students do it for me.
Bless you all for taking the time to make little gifts for your new teachers...I am hoping to have a scrappy-mom in my class thsi year-never have before!
Our school sends out the list of things to bring, but it usually only goes into the classrooms so I pick up a few extra boxes of kleenex for the library, music, art rooms. One year we made dragonfly magnets for all the staff - we got the "sheets" of tiles from Home Depot and stamped them and hot glued the magnets on the back. They are still using them 4 years later. I also made a flowerpot in fall colors with tissue paper and modge podge with Easter grass and a leaf die cuts and they use it still for pens in the office, also made one for Valentines day, I have the little school bus, pencil wood cut outs from Michael's that might be the next pen holder, would probably be totally cute for the pencil bouquet as well. I did art adventure in one classroom and they did not have scissors for all the kids - I am watching the school supply ads for those to bring in this fall.

Stamper 1996 mentioned making clothes pins and had a link.
My kids and I made these yesterday. They turned out really cute and were SO-OOOO easy! It's a great way to use up those little scraps of DP and to keep the kids busy with a project.
I love the idea of the sharpened pencil bouquet, but it would be even nicer if you attach fake flowers with floral tape. Kids are always borrowing my pencils, but I never get them back. No one forgets to return a pencil with a big daisy attached to it, and the flowers are cute. For male teachers, you could consider attaching plastic spoons.

I found a place that you can personalize the pencils and I just ordered some that say " stolen from Mrs. Holley" on them. I remember that photographer that did my senior portraits had pens that said that and it left such a lasting impression that I had to do it for my daughter's teachers.

I just want to remind those that were interested, Limelight Papercrafts will be having a big Back-to-School themed projects on a blog hop tomorrow (Thursday, Aug 6). You can find links to the entire design team from Mandy's blog here: http://limelightpapercrafts.blogspot.com/
Here's a cute edible idea:
Make a banana-nut loaf (or any other kind of "loaf" bread), package it in a shoe box that has been decorated with gift wrap, then make a tag that says 'A loafer bread for you". I cut some images of shoes from a department store ad and glued them to the tag and box.
