Does anyone have any ideas, suggestions, instructions, where to buy ribbon or pictures for a baby wreath for the hospital door. My first grandbaby (boy) is due in 5 1/2 weeks and I am contemplating on making a wreath. Any suggestions would be helpful.
How exciting for you. I don't have any ideas as I have never seen this before. I did not know they allowed it.

These are pretty regional, I think. I had never seen them until I had my kids. They are very popular and are sold in hospital gift shops or florists will make them up with the baby's name and vital statistics. IIRC, my hospital door already had a hook for it because they "expected" the new mom to be receiving one.
To the OP, I would look in Michaels or Hobby Lobby for the ribbon and doo dads that decorate the ribbon. You can probably find the adhesive letters there, too.
I ordered the "wreath" to go on the hospital door with my first grandson. It was more like a mum, with all the streamers, ribbons. It was also $70.00, and this gramma got smart quick. I went to Hobby Lobby, they have homecoming mum stuff out most of the year here. I got the two silk mums, cardboard backing, started cutting ribbon, stapling it around the mum. Attached streamers, I think the cost for it all was $10.00. I bet you could google instructions, or youtube would have demos on there.
I'm sorry I don't have any patterns, but I wanted to let you know that most hospitals DON'T allow latex balloons due to possible allergies/reactions, so please don't put those on the wreath. They will allow the mylar (silver-y) balloons though.
I've never seen one, so this may not work, but how cute to do a blue or pink themed wreath with items the new parents could actually use. Little shoes, rattles, and other small items that could be attached among flowers and/or ribbons. Just a thought.
Here is a beautiful paper rosette, thanks to a wonderful blogger. Here's her blog and instructions, and also a photo downloaded. Something like this would be so pretty with a vintage picture of a baby in the center.
my vote would be for the wreath with things that could be used. get a straw wreath or grapevine wreath, entwine ribbon throughout and then tie on rattles, pacifiers, socks, etc.
