Help! I just volunteered to make my sister 40 baby announcements for her absolutely adorable baby girl (what can I say...my first time being an aunt. Does anyone have any ideas that they love that they might be willing to share? The simpler the better!
I would like to know too - When, my sil announced she was pregnant, I volunteered to make baby announcements. After she announced it, and I volunteered, then my other sil announced she was pregnant. Both are due in October. My dh said that I really needed to offer to make them for the other sil too - as to not hurt any feelings..... so now, I have a BUNCH of baby announcements to make. One baby is a boy - and the other is a girl. And right now, I have no baby stamps.....
One of the cutest baby announcements I've seen is to use the Wash Day wheel. Then under it it said "Our laundry just got cuter!" Sorry, I not sure if I saw the card on this site or in a stamping magzine. I'm going to offer to do baby announcements for my niece who is expecting twins in Sept.
I just finished getting my baby announcements ready to send - all I'll need to do is print the "baby stats" (6 weeks away) and put a picture in. I used the idea of the pocket card and, with bold bright spots, stamped hand prints and foot prints all over. I had an "It's a Boy" stamp that I used on the front, mounted on colored paper.
The insert is a colored piece of paper and I put an eyelet and ribbon on the end - to pull out of the pocket. I'll put the picture on one side and the baby stats on the other.
All together I made 45 and I spent 2 days working on them. If I can, I'll scan a pic, but can't get to it until later. They are simple, but cute (IMO).
Many things can be done with the pocket cards and I've seen other things that I might have done, even the style of pocket card. Also, there are cute eyelets for kids. I like the trains, bears, flowers, etc.

I'd look under some of the baby / baby announcement sets in the gallery for some ideas. You may not use those exact sets, but it may give you some inspiration.

I had gotten a great idea off the SU demo site (I have one at home that I'll post later) It's not totally simple, but WAY cute!! It uses the I'm here set...it used positively pink, ballet blue, barely banana, and gable green, each color was cut into a 1/4 of a a card front...you know what, it's too difficult to explain, when I get home, I'll post one, you could simplify it a little by just doing maybe 2 colors of pink, since it's a girl, but ok, really, I'm going to stop now...hee hee hee
OH--we also made ones for my friend who didn't know what she was having, using baby firsts, we did the poppin pastel technique on plain white cards...also very cute...I'm liking that other idea of using the wash day wheel too though..."our laundry just got cuter"...I love it!!!
Good luck, and I'll post a link here of the other card later...sorry for my ramble!
I just made 30 of these for the birth of my third child. I had them completed before the birth, so that all I had to do was print the info. and put a picture inside each one.
Whatever you do, I'd suggest (or insist) you use a wheel! It makes doing backgrounds much easier. If not a wheel, then use background paper. And another suggestion would be to do something that does NOT involve coloring in!
A previous poster had a good idea on going to the gallery and looking for ideas. Or first find out if a friend or relative has baby stamps - then just look for ideas using that stamp set.
Good luck - you're so nice to make them for both of them!
I feel your anxiety; I have a sister and niece and very best friend that are all
pregnant and due the same week-YIKES. I am giving baby showers for my sister and best friend. Making invites and have been asked by my niece to do announcements like I did for my other neice, I also did Thank yous for my other neice's shower. I like the wash day wheel. For the announcements you could do that or the new Rattle jumbo wheel.
Good luck- hope you dont have alot to do!
I have over 150 shower invites to do between the 2 of them. Both are having girls and I am using the NEw pixie pink cardstock-LOVE IT!
Have Fun!
Tina
Thanks Tracey! And thanks for asking about my eye! Yes, it is better! I got to take the patch of late yesterday afternoon. WOW!! I never realized how much I valued vision in both eyes!!!
Now back to the regularly scheduled thread. . . .

I am super impressed that some of you can stamp with newborns That's a tough job! I love the pocket idea and pulling out a tag with the pic and info on it. I don't have any of the wheels but that sounds like my next purchase! Thanks for all of your help!
I love the cuter laundry and love the pocket idea even more!!!
I will still tell you about a card I made for my sister when her daughter was born last month. Wished I hade a scanner, I would show you, but I don't, so I'll explain.
I used Mauve Mist CS (hehe to get rid of it). On the front I stamped little onesies all over (from a Little Love, no words) with versamark and then sprinkled glitter on it and used pink gingham ribbon for a bow at the neck. The glitter onesies were cute! Then, the front said Welcome Dakota Marie (Welcome was from Welcome Little One and the name was stamped with the alphabet from I'm Here and punched out and placed to look like the name bracelet). Inside was the sentiment from Welcome Little One.
I would just stamp Welcome Little One for announcement and put stats inside.
I had I'm Here, first set I bought, since I had a 3 month old then, then when my neice and then my sister both came up prego, I got Welcome Little One and made their baby shower invites with it. So, then the set came in handy again when the babies were born.
