Anyone else BROKE like me and can't buy supplies? Boo hoo!
October is a tight month for us...It is sooo hard because I have about ten Joann coupons in my purse and they are burning a hole in my wallet. But I must be good this month and not spend on craft supplies. My anniversary and
birthday are coming up so I'm hoping that I either get money or Joann gift cards or better yet, a SU gift card!!
Anyway, please tell me that I"m not the only one...who else is broke and can't buy stuff this month?
I am in the same boat. Hubby just bought a new semi and didn't work for a week and a half (getting the truck certified and paperwork in order) OUCH! So no new stuff for a month or 2. Have to make the other payments and keep bills paid. But better that than a bad credit report. So I am just going to have to be creative with the stamps and paper that I have. Thank goodness I already had my Christmas CS so that I can still make my Christmas cards.

I have to remind myself...that even using a 40% or 50% coupon, I'm STILL spending money. Some weeks I have to just make myself pass up the 'great deal'. It's frustrating...I have a large list of things I want from SU or other places. So I just prioritize and re-prioritize.
You're definitely not alone!

Go through your craft & stamp supplies and see what you can use. Sometimes we forget what is hidden in our craft rooms. Challenge yourself to make a project with what you have. If you keep busy, you may forget you don't have any money!
Your not alone!! We bought a fixer upper house the very end of August. We are in the process of fixing it up and carrying the bills from both places until we can move in in November. Ouch!! No money to spend.
I also console myself that the items I want will still be around in a few months for me to purchase.
On the plus side, I am using lots of stamp sets and accessories that have been sitting on my shelves neglected.

I hope your birthday and anniversary see you getting some supplies. I've been in this situation before and, like another poster said, the stuff is still there when finances improve.
Waaaa! NO new goodies for me either... I decided that I wanted to go to see my hubby compete at the karate nationals this year and visit family who hasn't seen our 4 month old daughter so money is going to our first road trip to Saskatoon- what was I thinking?! Lol! at least its a good reason. I'll be heading down to the craft room to play lots before we leave for the weekend.
We're working on our house, too, so most of our money is going toward that. So, I made a promise to myself that if the rest of my house is going to look awesome, why not the spare bedroom (which is just a disguise for my scrap/stamp room)! This month is organize and weed-out month for me!!!

I joined a stamp camp last year and attend 1 time a month.there are 6 of us.this year and so that gives us each 2 times to be a hostess a year.but however we all have a buget to spend $30.00 or more each month.I always buy at least 1 stamp set to keep me happy and some kind of supplies.Like a package of paper 1 or 2 inkpads.Last month I bought nothing but paper it felt good to get some supplies stocked up.So each month I figure it out 1 or 2 stamp sets sometimes 1 wheel.or a stamp set and bg stamp.so little by little you can do it.at least 1 time amonth is better than nothing.

Wow, $30 a month sounds like heaven to me! As for no budget, I totally know how you feel. That happens to me a lot. I'm just trying to use what I have! (and ignore coupons!) But I am hoping to use tax return next year to make a big purchase of lots and lots of ink pads. I have few colors and that is the most frustrating thing for me. But for now, I just make do. (and dream big!) Nice to know I'm not alone!
As of next month, all I will be able to do is my stamp club minimum. Tomorrow is my hosting night so I am doing my christmas order. At least I will know that I will get what I want for christmas, lol. I told hubby he needs to do birthday shopping. My birthday is christmas eve.

I should add that even that is down. I was going to order 150.00 before tax and shipping, I have it down to 108.00 after tax and shipping and remember this is christmas stuff for me.
Once when I was tight for money, but really needed some new materials to work with, this is what I did: I told a few of my stamping friends to come over and bring scraps of stuff (paper, ribbon, stickers, etc...) they didn't mind trading, along with some stamp sets and we just all used each others "junk." It was really fun!
It is a tough time of year for lots of us. The holidays are right around the corner. I am determined to find ways to use what I already have! It is fun to rediscover lost sets at the bottom of the pile. I just used little layers 2 after a year or so. I am also trying to use up lots of patterned paper. I did just sell a bunch of undersused supplies at a yard sale at a lss and made $33.00
I second that! I would benedryl our daughter when we flew out of here. ONLY way to get out of here. She is young. She will sleep and you and DH will have a peaceful trip.
Add me to the list... we have two evictions this month so we have three mortgage payments to make this month and we paid them last month as well. Plus my mom's bday is this month along with my older son. School fundraisers came home yesterday and due on the 16th. School pictures had to be paid last friday and our truck had a $700.00 repair bill last month.
I am going to make a bunch of cards and see if I can sell some at work. I have a workshop coming up early November so I need to come up with some cash for the workshop. Hopefully I will sell enough cards to buy some new stuff.
And you're right, I should go down to my stamp area and use the stuff I already
have...thank you all for making me see the glass as half full. Ah, it's all in the
perspective, right?
Move over, make room in the boat for me to please. My DH and I have/had a bad habit of shopping 24/7 and eatting out 24/7. We figured with all the money we "waste" we can do an addition on our house so I can finally get my own craft space. Fine and dandy but it is killing us without having the extra money to "play". We are living comfortable but just do extra money to joy spend like we used to. I so hate being responsible. LOL!
I sell stuff when I feel the need to buy some cocai,,,, I mean stamps!! I just go through my pile and figure out what I don't want anymore and sell or trade. It gives me that "rush" that only purchasing craft stuff can do!!
I once held a garage sale for stampers. Invited a bunch of stampers to my house and we all sold our stuff to each other!! It was a hoot.

Add me to the list. My unemployment just ended this week and I can't work because I'm doing my student teaching. Soooo I'm living off my savings and a student loan the rest of the year. I'm also single so I was the only income that supported me. Looks like it's Kraft mac & cheese and stamping supplies I have on hand for me for while!

Sometimes the unexpected can turn into life's biggest joys...
For those that are down on the finances this month, there is an alternative to window shopping.
Become a SU demonstrator and the profits from your sales can pay for your new stuff. And for those who are, get out a pen and paper and work on some goal setting in your business. Book another workshop, or put your most important tool to work, do some telephone sales.

Yep - add me to the list. I am doing ok, but not like we used to be. We are on a very strict budget. There is a little fun money, but not much. I like the idea of getting together and using each others supplies. I know the females on my Christmas shopping list are getting all stamped items this year for gifts. A stack of cards and a post it note holder and an RSVP pen sound like a cute gift pack. Glad to see we aren't alone.
Sometimes when I'm shopping I just don't FEEL like spending my money on something -- even with a coupon. What I like to do then is to find someone who looks like they might really like a coupon and hand them mine. I just did that at Joann's on Saturday. I had a 50% off coupon and just didn't see anything that I had to have. I totally made someone's day! (That made ME feel good and I didn't spend one penny to feel that way.)
I hate that feeling! However, sometimes I'll spend a couple of bucks on some ribbon or other embellishments, or $1 stamps just to ease my *craving* for a while. Sick, isn't it? ;)
Here's my tip: when I don't have money to spend - I will go to all my favorite internet sites and add things I want to my shopping cart (I do this at work otherwise I would feel like I was wasting time) and then I don't purchase it. It's a little bit more fun then window shopping and yet I'm still not spending money I don't have.

Same here...I'm always broke. I have to spend $15 at my stamp club as there are 10 of us so I know I'll get something but boohoo....but I get an hour break and I work an hour away from home. I don't go on break until 2:30 and I've already eaten by then so I'll cruise Michael's or Joann's for my hour break or go to Barnes and Noble to read the stamp magazines. So I feel like I've shopped!
