Default Any guys out there doing this?

I have begun to become curious if there are any males out there who catch the stamping bug like us women? Just really curious...can't see my husband getting into this.

My husband made me a card last year for my birthday, but that is about it for stamping anything. He does help me with layouts, colors, and things like that. He probably would be a good card maker because he is very creative and artsy. He makes jewelry and stained glass projects. He made me a dress several years ago. I think he stays away from paper because it is really the only crafty thing I do and he doesn't want to try to show me up or anything like that.

My boss is male and after a while of me giving him handstamped cards/gifts he decided to try his hand at stamping. He asked me to go with him to Michael's and help him pick out starter supplies. Then his daughter kind of took over. So now it's something they kind of do together...although she does it more than him.

Hi,

I'm a male stamper sometime scrapbooker. I've been papercrafting in one form or another all the way back to middle school. I signed up with Stampin' UP! for awhile but wasn't able to get anywhere and was spending far too much. A year ago my 4 year old great niece and nephew came to live with us and I have been introducing them to stamping/cardmaking - she more than him. Kammie has her own ink pads, stamps, decorative scissors, colored pencils and markers ... yesterday she asked why she can't sit down and make a card with me (such a proud moment!)

I have a blog, check it out, ignore some of my SU postings (it was a dark, dark time for me :-O

My Lead at work is a scrapbooker and he alters item. He is now working on a scrapbook for their baby daughter they just adopted and a board book.
I got my BIL to stamp once at the cabin with me. My DH will give me ideas and they are always good but he likes his garage stuff to much. I wish he would stamp with me as he has some awesome ideas.

I went to a class at a LSS and one of the ladies brought her 83 yr old father. He was enjoying himself and from hearing them talk, it was not his first class. He seemed to have a sense of humor - we made a little drawer thing. The teacher had beads, colored strings, buttons, Scrabble tiles, etc for embellishments. 'Dad' picked out Scrabble tile to spell 'Keep Out'!

Cool

Bejamin,
Glad to see another guy stamper here. I am also a Stampin Up demonstrator but unlike you, things are going great for me as a Demonostrator. I love the Stampin Up product and love showcasing the product to my customers.

If anyone needs product or idea feel free to look at my blog.

My husband cross-stitches and stamps SOMETIMES.. He likes my Copics and has taken a couple of my colouring classes..

My best friend (a guy) and his husband do crafts with me (like making their wedding invites) and are looking to get more into the hobby. I can't wait! Girls to stamp with!! (j/k!!)

My husband will make me and the kids cards and he does "critique" my work when I ask. He wouldn't call himself a stamper, though, he's a gamer. When I bought a Cricut, he said, "Well, I wouldn't spend $400 on a paper cutter, but I guess that's how much I spent on my XBox. It's a hobby."

My husband of 30 years does not stamp or scrapbook but he is my biggest fan! He fishes and I scrapbook pictures of the fish he catches, LOL.

I have to second what some other ladies have already said. My husband gives me great suggestions and ideas, but he doesn't actually do the stamping or scrapping. He is very artistically gifted. I can copy pretty much anything, but I can't come up with my own ideas---he can. Plus he knows about shadowing when coloring and all that. He does his own hobbies, though. He was into woodworking and using the scroll saw. Lately, he's been making his own pens using a lathe. If I knew how to post pictures I post one. Oh, and when I was into making jewelry I got him to try making lampwork beads and he was even good at that! Sometimes it's depressing to me that he's naturally good at stuff, but I don't seem to have a creative bone in my body!

Awwww, thanks! That was just the first picture I found. Here is a better one. He takes a bunch of pictures and then photoshops them together so he can post them on his pen forums. Everyone keeps asking him if he does graphic design. No, he doesn't, but I keep telling him he should go to school to get into graphic design.

Denise, these pens are gorgeous. Does you husband sell his pens? Somebody gave my DH a set of handmade wood pens several years ago and he loved them. They broke about a year ago and I've been looking everywhere for a replacement. I've looked on ebay and office supplies stores but nothing.

Sorry, didn't mean to change the subject on this thread...But I cannot see my husband doing paper crafting with me. He would watch sappy movies, no problem and willingly does a lot of chores, but stamping doesn't interest him at all. He is very encouraging, though, and completely supports me. And he likes that I buy my own gifts (paper crafting related, of course), so he doesn't have to guess what I want. That's totally fine with me. :-)

My fiance is not what I'd call a stamper but he has stamped before. He made me a couple of cards when we lived in my apartment together and had to be stuffed in my stamp room with his computer...one day I was stamping something and he had me stamp an extra background...then he surprised me and made a card with punches using it..it's in my gallery I think.

And then he proposed to me by stamping cards that let me on a scavenger hunt of sorts around the house until he popped the question! AND he did all this without my OCD self figuring out he'd been messing with my stuff!

My hubbie doesn't stamp but he does take a great deal of interest in what I do which I think is so nice. He is really good at doing critiques of my work and I always trust his opinion. He is always honest and says if something isn't working. This comes from skills I taught him when we were at university together (a looooong time ago!). I did art history and taught him how to visually analyse images and he was really good at it and still retains those skills. I am now forced to share in his passionate interest in French (which was his subject at uni) as I now have to learn the language but I suppose it is a fair exchange!!!!

Well!! It IS part of your username you know. *grin*

Fair comment, Sophie! However my username wasn't really what I had in mind initially. I wanted just 'Chablis' as this is the name of my much adored Springer (born in a 'C' year here). However, someone had already snaffled that and so I had to come up with a variation quickly and French Chablis was what popped into my mind as I registered. I do actually enjoy learning the language, even though I am not a 'natural' linguist as my hubbie would readily testify. He always says 'how come you can remember every last detail about all the stamping stuff you know, but forget the new vocab I taught you yesterday'!!!!! I regard it as my 'mid-life' challenge!!!!

Best wishes learning French. I taught my husband (forced him to learn it). I labelled items all over the house, even inside the fridge. Not just the item's names, but phrases too. I made him read French things, write French things, and I would correct the mistakes. I'm shocked that he did not end up divorcing me!!
