My favorite inks to use are Memento Luxe and Versamagic chalk inks, and I color my pages using PanPastels and colored pencils, something using a tiny eraser for highlights. I don't do anything to prep the pages, but I do seal them with a workable fixative. I like to use letter dies for masking, too.
I don't now, but it is on my to do list. In the meantime I check out the following website on a regular basis. In the side column you can go back and see what she did in her yearly challenges. I believe she is a very godly woman.
I want to try this and I have a few bibles that I have received over the years that I can use. However, they are not journaling bibles. Anyone use a regular bible for bible journaling?
I do. I use stamps, stickers, washi, any kind of embellishments. If you are interested in finding out more there is a facebook group called Journaling Bible Community you can ask to join. There is a blog called Illustrated Faith and if you search Illustrated Faith on instagram you will find lots of stuff.

Thanks! I joined the Facebook group, and have already been inspired!
I need to be more consistent with it but sometimes perfection takes over...! When I get home this weekend I'll share more pages.
A regular Bible can be used... the margin will be narrower but there are transparent mediums that can be used over the text without losing readability. PanPastels are my favorite.
The Facebook group is HUGE but very sweet and a great place to glean a wide variety of ideas.
If anyone is interested, Lydia and I are working on getting an official chat thread/possible challenge thread started for Bible Journaling....stay tuned for more details :-)
Love, love, love your pages. Can you tell me which bible this is that you used?

The leader of my group bought several Bibles from Amazon. You can choose from a few translations and several different covers. Mine is a plain black thin cover, tons of room on the side margins for decorating and fairly large type. It was $10. Some ladies in the group have fancier covers and some have smaller Bibles, easier to tote around but the type is way too small for me! Keep checking Amazon, sometimes they are sold out. The publisher of my particular on is called Church. I checked at a local Christian book store and the only ones they had with space for art were hard covers and very expensive.

Yes! More bible journalers out there! I'm so excited! And to get a group started here on SCS? This made my day!
I've been faith journalling for a while, but began bible journalling since the beginning of this year when I stumbled upon Shanna Noel and the Illustrated faith group. Here's a link to some of my pages:
I'm so excited that I get to incorporate my love of the Word with my love of papercrafting. I'm finally using all of the pretty stickers that I have a tendency to hoard, and I can now incorporate stamps and stencils with so many different mediums.
There is a TON of inspiration on Pinterest, too. I've been inspired to improve my hand lettering, and have purchased a few books to help with this: Joanne Sharpe's "The Art of Whimsical Lettering" and Jenny Doh's "Creative Lettering". There's also a nice book about bible journaling called "Writing in The Margins" by Lisa Nichols Hickman that can be used to jump start the process.
Following this thread to see where it leads! (Off to check out previous posters' artwork now!)
Okay, Dina, I had to laugh because when I clicked on your link above, I recognized all the pages I'd already pinned of yours on Pinterest! Lovely!
And Mary Beth, I LOVE your vellum overlays! Stunning! Such pretty pages! I think we need a separate gallery here for this! (And it's funny, because I think I asked the Mods for one a few months ago!)
Woohoo! The Bible Art Journaling 2015- Getting Started challenge thread has been started here - please come introduce yourselves, share links and help us get started on this wonderful way to combine the talent that the Lord has given us with His Word!!
Hi everyone! This is perfect timing as I plan to make a prayer junk journal for a dear friend of mine and I need some ideas about what you all think should go in it!
Dina, I showed her your illustrated Bible pages and she just loved them! I think she has been collecting ideas along those lines though she's not a crafter/artist herself.
I made her another junk journal which she is using to write down prayers, then goes back to the pages to write about what happened and how God fulfilled them (cool idea). I'm thinking of a thick journal with a lot of blank space, but I'm wondering if there are downloadable/printable elements I could add, and are there any suggestions for where I could find some?
I'd love to reference/stamp some Bible passages that are meaningful to me, but I hesitate to do that since this is her journal (and journey)... all suggestions welcome!
