I was transitioning a stamp from wood mounted to cling...I saw a youtube video of a gal who took a stamp that already had the sticky foam on it, the permanent kind that you mount to wood (like the way SU! stamps come)...she thinly paints the sticky side with regular cheap tacky glue and lets it dry, then does a coat of tack it over and over...
well I wanted to try something. I did the regular white tacky glue and let it dry....
then stuck it on my acrylic block...and it works!!
It didnt fall or move or anything!! So I didnt really need to buy the tack it over and over stuff. I dont know if this will work for regular rubber, or how long it will cling before you need to reapply the glue. but i am in love! That means I dont have to keep a film over the tacky side (from the tack it over and over), I can just store them on a laminated page or on the leftover carrier sheet from other stamp sets...
woohooo!

Great discovery! I take the clear sticker and stick it right onto the foam sticky side... then I use a thin layer of Tack-it-Over-and-Over and I can "see the image through" when I'm stamping! I store them on clamshell lids that are cut from the container. It's a practically free way to unmount. Love those ah-ha moments!!!
Michelle Zindorf uses the tack it over glue and applies a thin coating to just the rubber. I was skeptical at first that it would stamp nice image without using the foam cushion but it worked great when I tried it at her class. I'm glad she showed us. She includes alot of rubber only stamps with her classes but cuts out and tack it over glues the ones we use in the class.

I have been trying to figure out what to do with that sticky back for ages, I didn't like the tack it over and over because it was still too sticky will have to try just plain tacky. The idea for the clear is Genuis too THANKS
I saw a video on the internet where the lady used Tack it over and over
but she put it on the acrylic blocks instead of the stamps... then you
only have a few items that stay sticky... she even showed how you could
wash the blocks periodically and let them dry and they would remain
sticky...

I have decided all that are being unmounted here are going on the thin black ezy mount....purely coz then they will fit in the stamp keepers without a fuss....
but...
if I had another system I was using this would be brilliant!

When you use Tack it Over and Over remember to use a very THIN coat then after it dries you stick the TIOAO side to your hand the first time you stick it ((yep that's what the directions say, and that's what I do, I use the back of my hand)) and that takes some of the super stickiness off and lets you apply and re-apply.
The reason I don't use TIOAO directly onto my blocks is bc I like my stamps to stick to the clamshell lids and stay together. If I had them loose and in a CD case or something, I'd be afraid of loosing small sentiments or some of the little stamps that go with my set! **But then again, I'm a messy stamper!** I also like being able to quickly "flip" through my set of lids with the image showing through and see exactly what I got!
I peel right down to the rubber on my SU stamps! The foam comes right off when they're new, and almost all of my old ones were easy to strip to bare rubber. Then I apply the TIOAO and they stick to the CD cases I store them in.
I've always used a thin piece of foam (like the clear stuff that comes in the CTMH sets) to stamp on and it take the place of the foam. I just got a 12 x 12 piece from my local hardware store and it works like a dream.
This stuff is usually used to pack things inside a cardboard box, so next time you buy something, keep the plastic foamy sheet!
I've never had a problem, even with large solid images, stamping with this thin clear or white foamy stuff! I just use recycled printer paper or unwaxed butcher paper (from Costco) on top of the foam.
Another thing that works great are those super cheap sheets of craft foam!
(I use the stickers from my SU stamp sets on a piece of 4-3/4" square white CS which I then slide into place inside the front of the CD case showing what stamps are in that case.)

That is such a fabulous idea! I have always used EZMount, and I always stamped the image on the back of the EZMount to work as an index and help me to line it up even more. But this idea is brilliant! (Except for maybe the SU double mounted stamps where the sticker image is super tiny-- but I guess I could save my extra EZMount for items like that).
I am SO going to give this a try! I'm glad I read this.. I was just about to purchase a hot knife to make cutting around the new die-cut SU stamps easier. Now I might not have to! (Can you tell I'm excited??) lol
Thanks so much to all of you for posting these tips and the videos also. I had removed the wooden blocks and backing from almost all of my wooden stamps (with the exception of tiny ones and large ones) to make them easier to store. I tried using double-sided tape to adhere them to the acryllic blocks when I got ready to stamp with them. Needless to say, I didn't use them much, and one of my blocks is a sticky mess. So going to clean the block with goo-gone and purchase some Alene's TIOAO. Thank you soooo much!!!
