I {heart} wood....

I am a very messy stamper and love the grab and go convience that wood mounted stamps have to offer...

I do have a few UM rubber and acrylic stamps and sets but I hardly use them since I personally find it a PITA to get them out - get my blocks out - mount them and then clean them and then HOPE and PRAY a small stamp doesn't fall out onto my messy table *especially if it is clear*

Plus I have had a heck of a time with some acrylic stamps that I do have - getting a nice crisp impression - I expect not getting quite a crisp impression with my $1 acrylic stamps but when I spend good money on acrylic I want clear impressions....

So my preference is
Wood mounted
UM rubber
Acrylic

I have Wood mounts, unmounted rubber & clear acrylics. I prefer my woods way more over the others. I think I get a better stamped image and I do not have to mess with putting them on a block every time. If I need to line it up perfectly, I pull out my Stampamajig.
I more wood mounts than anything. I know unmounted's are cheaper, but truthfully I would rather pay the higher price for a good wood mount stamp. I have some acrylics that are so cheap are basically crap. I will not buy them unless it is a stamp that I really really like and the acrylic itself has to be good , something like CTMH.

I have found it really interesting to read all the comments - especially considering I was under the impression that WM stamps were on their way out. I personally have WM, unmounted rubber and acrylic. I can't stand the acrylic , I am not sure if it is because I am not use to it, because it is not good quality or what. I never seem to have a nice clean image and I find it a hassle to work with them. I can tolerate unmounted rubber but really the wood mounted ones are my fav. I live in a small space and for me the space for the WM stamps is well worth it.

That being said, it is clear that it is really a matter of personal preference.

I love rubber stamps and don't know if I'll buy any more clear stamps. I prefer wood mounted but due to space issues I'm buying more and more unmounted. I do leave my very favorite sets wood mounted.

So interesting! I, too, thought WM were on their way out---so glad to hear that's not the case! As others have said, I like the "feel" of the wood block in my hand... I have some UM rubber and a few acrylics, but WM will always be at the top of my list!
