Just out of curiousity, am I the last person on the planet who likes woodmounted rubber stamps? Seriously, I have a few acrylic but I honestly don't think they stamp images as clean as my rubber ones. And I like the feel of the wood block in my hand. I feel it has more "give" and that I have more control over the stamp.
I also prefer wood mounted stamps. I bought the cutest set of owls from Hero Arts and the image is not as clear as I get from my SU stamps. I even tried to use a lighter touch and still it looked blurry.
You are not alone. I had acrylic and sold them all because I really just loved the wood mounted. I even have some TAC unmounted rubber and plan to mount them on some wood because I never use them and know I will more often when I mount them.
I love my wood mounted stamps! My preference is rubber stamps. And personally - if I had to mount and remount mine - I would lose them. I am not a well organized person so it wouldn't work for me.

I love all stamps. I have wood mounted, unmounted rubber, and acrylic.
I will always keep some of them on their wood mounts just because I really like the image on the wood and it makes a great decoration for my stamp room.
My favorite way to use stamps though is unmounted "rubber" on the acrylic blocks. It has the feel of stamping with a wood mount but I can see through the acrylic block to get better placement for my image.
When I do use my acrylic stamps, I always stamp the image first in my VersaMark ink pad and then into my regular inkpad. this gives it a much crisper image.

That's me in a nutshell! When I stamp I have stamps all over the place. I have a couple of sets not on wood and they frustrate me. Love my wood!
I love rubber stamps. I can stamp better with them. I do have some acrylic and some are great and some are just horrible -- esp. the common store bought ones.
You are not alone! My favorite is wood-mounted rubber. I also enjoy using high-quality photopolymer stamps, especially for easy positioning, but having the feel of wood in my hands...ah, bliss! And I'm not bothered by using a stamp positioner like some people. It takes just a second (less time than finding, mounting, and unmounting clear stamps) and is easy-peasy.
Having both wood and clear stamps, I definitely like wood much more. I seem to find that with the clear, certain inks just don't work well with them. I also think that after a lot of use the clear ones don't cling as well and they will stretch or tear.
You are absolutely not alone. I love my wood mounted stamps. I prefer the crisp image and I love that I'm not wasting time mounting and unmounting stamps each time I use them.
LOL - I have to agree, wood is for me!
Sounds like the acrylics are the minority, maybe in time this will pass ;)
Separate, but somewhat related side note...can anyone tell me where I can buy wood blanks? I looked all over Michael's, and JoAnn's and just couldn't find anything to use for unmounteds I've been 'forced' to buy ;)
I also thought SU might offer them, but don't see them in the catalogs either...
Rubber definitely gives a clearer, crisper image than any of the clear stamps I've used. I prefer the feel of the wood blocks in my hand. However, when I'm using alphabet stamps, I'd rather use unmounted rubber on acrylic blocks so I can line up and stamp a word or a short phrase at a time.
Another vote for wood mounted......I have a few Acrylics, mostly alphabets that I use for flexibility in words but even that is limited...I love my wood stamps---and that is that.

I like them alllllll! I have a lot of UM of all brands, a ton of PTI (anxiously waiting to get my anniversary set!) a bunch of SU and a few other clear stamps like Autumn leaves. I have had good results with all. I do like the feel of that solid block in my hand, I must say. I would use wood exclusively, but that darn Nicole keeps tempting me....
I've never had a problem getting a crisp image with unmounted and acrylic stamps. You just need to know how to use them. Wood stamps can cause problems also if you don't know what you are doing. But I am in the "I love all stamps" category.
The vast majority of my stamps are wood mounted and I use them all the time. I own and use both acrylic and unmounted rubber and do like the advantage of being able to see the placement. But, similar results can be achieved if you take the time to use a stamp a ma jig. The type of ink can make such a difference when using the acrylics...and IMHO so does the type of paper. As the old saying goes...*variety is the spice of life*.
I just got my first bellas - and I like that the are rubber, but it really took some practice before I was stamping good images from them (you temporarily mount them on an acrylic block).
I haven't had any good luck either with acrylic, but I don't own any, have just used others.
They nice thing about acrylic block though I'll say is that you can see much better exactly where you are stamping the image, but I don't have too much problem with placement of my wood mounted rubber ones - and when I'm not sure I use my stamp-a-mi-jig.
I always get nervous for people when they post that they are unmounting their stamps. Good for them if that works for them, but for me that would be so rough.
It's good that there are choices for everyone though
I'm just too big a mess to go unmounted! I'd have such a pile of sticky inky photo-polymer at the end of my stamping project it would make me sick! I love being able to stick my stamp (face up till I clean it) back in my box and keep the creative energy going!!!
Now, if I could leave every stamp on an acrylic block permanently, then we'd talk. It's the constant UNMOUNTING and returning to the sheet or case that I hate!
You're definitely not alone! I adore my wood mounted stamps. I have some of the acrylic stamps and I don't like the "feel" of them when I'm stamping. I also have some TAC stamps--these are ok...I still miss my wood block, but at least they have a cushion, it makes them feel a little more like "home". I would have so much more space if I unmounted all my wood stamps, but then I would probably never use them!!
I love all kinds of stamps
I have mostly unmounted rubber stamps for several reasons:
*some companies only sell unmounted rubber
*SU! and TAC aren't sold over here and I have some very generous and kind American friends that let me order through them...........but I always let them send the rubber unmounted without the woods because of postage.
TAC uses EZmount so I use that with my acrylic blocks
Vronica from The Netherlands

This is exactly my problem, I don't like temporary mounts. However, I was finally able to locate a dealer that sells blanks, and will be mounting my bellas soon!!
