Default Alternative to Paper Piercing Template

I found an alternative to the SU paper piercing template and thought I would share. I wanted to get the Mat Pack, but I already have a setting mat and a small mousepad that works as a piercing mat. So I really just needed the template. I didn't want to pay $9.95 for just the template, so I got creative. I found plastic canvas in the embroidery section at JoAnn's and it works great! I got a piece of clear size 10 for $0.69. Means more money for stamps! It is about 9x12". I think I might get one in size 7 as well because the holes are spaced out a little farther. I just use a push pin to do the piercing - along with the mousepad. I loved the SU piercing template when I used it at a stamp camp, but I just couldn't justify the cost when I only needed the template.

You can also buy shapes in plastic canvas--circles, hearts, stars. Gives a really great effect when "pierced." I found many of them at Walmart.

Excellent idea! Those little template holes aren't always easy to see! TFS!

Thank you SO much for sharing your idea! I had been pining for the template only and couldn't justify the cost either. Too bad SU couldn't break apart the set and offer individual components.

Anywho - I love your idea and can't wait to get some plastic canvas the nest time I am at Wal-Mart.

Thanks!!
