I *love* that we have a gallery here on SCS for ATCs ... but are there any other galleries online where I can look for inspiration? I am specifically looking for ATCs that are more in line with my style (not very artistic ... more clean-line stamping). I do really appreciate the look of the artsy ATCs ... but I just can't pull off that look. I gotta stick to my roots, ya know? ;)
If someone could please direct me to additional galleries, I'd really appreciate it!
I have never made an ATC before ... but I really want to do a bang-up job on a swap I am participating in!
Oh, one more thing! Are there some SU! sets that specifically lend themselves to ATCs? I am putting in an order this week ... so I could add a set to my upcoming order.
Many ATCs are not in that gallery. For instance, I have mine in my own personal album. Did you search by keyword - ATC?
I don't know of any other sites that show ATCs. Sorry. But I love your clean-line style! Seeing your style of ATCs in the gallery will be a great addition!
Sarah I hope these pics help you out some. I hosted a swap between a few friends here on SCS, I have had so much stuff packed and stored and never got around to uploading them. I found them last night and so I will put the pics here.
There seem to be more in the gallery - "Anything but a card/ATC's" - so many of theme here on SCS are grouped together. That has been a big help.
A Small Cleverness is a stamp shop in Orange Park, Florida - for those heading to Florida on vacation - this store is real treat!!! They just recently posted a series of ATC's on picture trail - here is the link...
My take on ATC's is more clean images, but some of those mixed media techniques - so my little people don't have wings or crowns or too much of that collage thing going on. I was beginning to think the ATC rule book has some clause in there about crowns and wings being required. Then I joined atcards.com (great place to swap with atc'rs in Great Britain) - to discover collage and pencil drawing is common, and have stamping very unusual. Kinda surprising to hear people thought drawing was easy and stamping was hard (huh??)
There sure seems to be some style schools in atc's.. Some might be.. 1) Wing and crowns or those paper doll legs stuck on everything 2) collage, collage, collage 3) Ann Taintor style witty sayings 4) dark cards of slightly creepy mort images - sooo not me 5) and the "I've gone crazy with little scissors a and cut out stuff for hours for this one little card" school, and 6) the Stampin Up! demo card which tends to be simple, and instructive.
Serious swappers have told me that the mark of a serious trader is making a bunch (20 or so) that look alike or very similar) Why? (I asked) - because when going to a swap you don't want to slow down by having someone pick through your cards, your good ones go first, and see some lady ahead of you get the card you really would have like to have had. So there is some discipline in making very similar cards to keep peace when trading. Doing the same one over and over is a difficult leap for me.
By the way - go look at Curlycurlyhair's gallery for pictures of her atc's. The cruise one is awesome.

That made me LOL! I wondered about that, too. If I had to make all mine look like that I'd get pretty sick of 'em and right quick! ;)

Interesting. Well, I hope you and Sarah start a "school" of clean, simple, and stamped ATCs! Mebbe then I'll actually get inspired to make one or a few!

Ick. I hate mass production. I doubt then, I'd ever get involved in trading, but just stick to looking at 'em online.

BIG thanks to all of you who helped with links and pictures. I am still kinda nervous about WOWing the other ladies I am in a swap with ... but I'm sure it will work out ok. ;)
Like Julie, I truly can appreciate the artistic style of many ATCs ... but I just cannot recreate that style myself. And frankly, some of it is just a little to weird for me!
I have a very clean, simple style ... so we'll see what I can do! I'll be sure to post my creations in my gallery and on my blog.
WooHoo! I already have mine done. I was nervous because I've never done ATC's before. I'll post to my gallery soon. I'm happy with it. I really hope everybody else is too. It's also a little simpler, not artsy.
There was a TLC, (Technique Lovers Challenge) back in May that called for ATC's; here's the link: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
I don't know if any other links!

Nina
Well I guess my 1st one is in two catagories:
1. Wings
5.Crazy with scissors
But Nina, lots of yours have wings...I hope mine gave you a chuckle!
Everybody loves wings!
and the next one I'm planning has wings again...

Stay tuned!
I saw the ATC's on your blog Sarah, and I must say you hit the nail on tha head with them. They definitely reflect your style and creativity as a stamper. Keep up the beautiful work. BTW, if you start a website on ATC's I would so be there.
The space limitations are part of the challenge aren't they? There are so many images that just won't fit! But both your signature style and A Muse stamps really work well in size iddy biddy.
Must be nice to hit the ball over the fence the first time up to bat. All your atc's are darling. The use of hardware and embellishment really make 'em pop.

LOL! Dragonflies and butterflies and birds. Yeah, I'm just wingin' it!

Thanks *SO* much for the kind comments, Nina!
These are quite fun to do once you kind of get into the groove ... I see lots more in my future!
I never thought I wanted to get into ATCS or anything with "those paper doll legs" hanging out. But I should have learned never to to say "never". Now I want to make an ATC using my actual business card. So...I need to know where to find "those paper doll" stamps and I'm looking for Mustard Moon paper that looks like stock market pages. It seems to come in white and navy.
TIA.
Arms and Legs? You might try Stamp in the Hand or PaperArtsy stamp companies. Cardsnstamps.com carries both and I have ordered from them before (they are a little slow shipping...) But both companies definately have those arms and legs you are talking about.
CardsnStamps.com carries Stamp in the Hand including the catalog, and I think they got a shipment in recently. Stamp in the Hand stuff is beautiful, and I have bought quite a few of their unmounted stamps at the brick and mortar store in Orange Park Florida called "A Small Cleverness". I don't know if they ship, but they might.
