Hi, Chris --
Many of my design team members have used Copics with digi images, and there are many other examples in the Gallery.
Some inkjet printers have two choices of black ink cartridges, the normal Black and one called "Photo." For my HP printer, that Photo ink works great with either Copics or Prismacolor pencils, no smearing.
You can test your printer by printing on the same type of cardstock you plan to use for your project. It doesn't need to be a digital image -- regular text will work, or anything with black lines. Make sure the ink is completely dry by letting it sit overnight or hitting it with a heat gun or hair dryer. Then you can color over it with your Copics to see whether or not it will smear.
If it does smear, there are workable spray fixatives. Some people use those for watercoloring digis. But you probably won't need that for Copics.
Some advantages of using an outline font rather than an alphabet stamp set are:
- There are many different choices of font styles that are free for personal use.
- You can size them to fit exactly what you need.
- The spacing and alignment of the letters can be adjusted and previewed on the computer before printing.
