Our receptionist at work was telling me that she always used to watch Aleene's craft show before she started her line of products. Has anyone ever seen this?

I believe it was on HGTV for a while. I do remember watching a few of her shows.

I use to love that show. It stopped airing about 15 years ago. I remember they were making a big plea to the viewing audience to call their cable providers to complain that the show was being cancelled and not picked up by any of the other networks. I remember I was just graduating from university just before the show was cancelled and I actually applied for a job with them. Never heard anything back, but at the time, I thought I wanted to make my living doing crafts.
Wow, hard to believe it was so many years ago. I was a faithful watcher or taped her show when I used to work. She also wrote a book, if I remember correctly.
Gosh, I remember watching her show about 20 years or more ago!!
I used to tape it on the VCR!!
I made a ton of roses made out of bread dough and tacky glue!!
Ahhh, the good times!! ha ha ha

Wonderful show! Aleene and her daughters, Heidi and Tiffany (sp?) were busy showing all kinds of crafts, of course, using her products and they use to make things out of "trash" that people would send in for the ladies to come up with ideas on how to recycle it! They were very clever!
I used to watch that show up to about 14 years ago. It was on the County Music Channel at noon each week day. For the time, they had the coolest craft kits. I remember that show was when I was starting to reallly get into stamping and I bought the box maker (which I still use) and a Hot Potatoes stamping kit. Those were the days....
It ran on TNN for years. It went off for good about five years ago, when Delta bought Aleene's. I think the name was Creative Living. Lots of good stamping segments on there.
Mary Beth
I used to watch on TNN every day at noon. She used to publish a craft magazine also 'creative living'. It was hard to find here but I managed to get every issue. It had craft segments from the show and lots of other 'stuff'. She started in the late '50s with a craft show in Calif. before she really got producing products. I think that she was promoting fiber flowers and doing a lot of floral arrangements. (along with Hazel Pearson) Perhaps that is the show your friend at work remembers?
I remember watching that show in the '90s too. I really enjoyed it. Like craftymomof2 I remember that trash segment - I don't think I ever made any of those projects myself, but I always had fun watching what they would come up with. I remember watching it (and a lot of other craft shows) when I was in university and often didn't have class in the early afternoon.
Sure wish we had more craft shows on tv these days. I'd much rather watch them than some of the other stuff that is on.

Oh yes, I used to watch her show all the time! I loved Allene and her girls. It's been a very long time since I've seen any of them. I don't even know what they are doing now.

I used to watch Aleene and her daughters' craft show too. I used to love to watch their segments on painting and embellishing t-shirts and sweatshirts. I never used an Aleene's product that I didn't like - always top quality.
My favorite Aleen's product that I use today for my cardmaking is Aleen's Paper Glaze (use in the same way as Crystal Lacquer or Stampin' Up's Crystal Effects.) The reasons that it's my favorite is because it never CLOGS. It dries clear and hard like a glass dimensional finish and is an excellent adhesive, too.
I remember a couple of years ago seeing a lady named Tiffany on Sandi Genovese's Scrapbooking show working with a painting technique. She looked like Aleene's daughter Tiffany. I've always wondered if it was her and what she's doing now.
The 3 sisters (Candace, Tiffany and Heidi along with her kids Starr and granddaughter Savannah) have a blog www.inspiredathome.wordpress.com that tells everything you ever wanted to know about them..their mother..and the craft business and what they are up to now. It was very interesting to see old photos etc. I still remember 'burnt brown paper bag' craft where you smeared Tacky glue on a paper bag and burnt it over a candle! Lots of my projects almost went up in flames I can tell you!!! lol
I used to love that show! I watched it faithfully every day while I was nursing our daughter..who is now 12! I smiled when I saw this thread...thanks for bringing back old memories...and making me feel old too!

Thank you for sharing this wonderful info! I just took a peek at their website. Very interesting indeed!

Ya'll are bringing back the memories! I bought the box maker also, lol and although it has taken a back seat to the ScorePal, it still comes in handy. I really liked the segments when Darcy and Pat (I think her name was Pat?) from Hobby Lobby were showcased- they always had some cute crafts to share.
I saw a lot of activity on our Inspired at Home blog this week so I checked and found that all the traffic came from this group. I am Aleene's daughter, Tiffany Windsor, and I am delighted to learn of this thread. Yes, the Aleene's Creative Living Television show ran for 15 years and went off the air in 2000. (Not quite as long ago as some had remembered We first aired on The Learning Channel, then moved to Lifetime and then landed at The Nashville Network. I produced and hosted over 2,000 episodes before I left the show in 1999. I did make appearances on Sandy Genovese's show on HGTV and on QVC and HSN.
Last year, I joined my sister Candace at her craft studio in Grasonville, Maryland and along with our sister, Heidi Borchers, we launched the Inspired at Home website to get back in touch with our Aleene's friends and fans. As was mentioned earlier in this thread, we are in the process of launching the Aleene Jackson Craft Museum to honor mom's history as one of the founding pioneers of the craft industry. We have only posted about 6 photos and interviews with mom so far and have about 2,000 more to go as we sort through the history archives & memorbilia.
For those of you who don't know, Aleene started her first business, a florist shop at the age of 20 in 1944. In a few short years after that, she expanded into artificial flowers and found that she needed a glue to adhere wire onto silk fabric in order to make the petals of the artificial flowers (this was long before you could walk into Michaels and buy silk flowers). Thus, "Glue d'Aleene" was born and quickly changed its name when designers started asking for "that tacky glue". While the family is no longer involved in the manufacturing business, Duncan Enterprises continues to manufacture and distribute the Aleenes Tacky Glues worldwide.
My sisters and I look forward to inspiring the Aleene's fans through our website and we hope you have a chance to drop in and say hello! By the way, Aleene turned 85 this last January and she is very active with her local senior community in California where she loves to dance several times a week.

So neat to have you respond TIffany! I visited your site earlier this week and really loved it, esp. your necklaces. My sister lives in the DC/MD area, but south east of your shop.

I watched that show all the time too! I was in high school/college when I watched. It is really what got me into crafting all together. I would run out to Michael's and buy the stuff to make whatever project. I even sent SASEs several times to get the project sheets. I still love Aleene's tacky glue! How fun to remember this!
Hi Mrs Noofy - thank you sooooo much for introducing this thread to our blog. We really appreciate the exposure as we reach out to reconnect with our Aleene's friends. We are planning on launching an online radio show soon so perhaps you'll all be able to tune in to that and say hello to Aleene on the show! I'll keep you posted on when that will launch. Thank you again and it is so nice to chat with all of you! Tiffany
It is so exciting to hear from Tiffany and to know Aleene and the family are all doing well. I truly credit Aleene and her TV show with inspiring me to get involved with hobby crafts. So thank you Aleene and family. And the best of luck to you in all future ventures.
Not only do I remember watching the show back in the '90s, but I also have several of Aleene's craft binders filled with craft project cards. That's where I learned how to use shrink plastic for jewelry, how to decoupage, and countless other craft techniques. It's so good to hear that Aleene is still active and the family is still spreading her love for crafting. Tiffany, I remember seeing you on many episodes of your mom's show and DIY Scrapbooking with Sandy Genovese when I first started scrapbooking. I'm off to check out your website now. Thanks for taking the time to post here.
I loved that show too!! I worked so I didn't get to see it everyday..But on the days I was off you couldn't pry me away!!! I think Aleene retired.
I miss all the old craft shows..They were timeless

The radio show sounds very interesting. Good luck with that. It is probably your Mom's fault for my present addiction.. if it hadn't been for her and her products I would never have entered the crafting world!! (at the tender age of 6!) and thanks to your TV show it only got worse! My DH would like to thank you for that lol. As was mentioned, the viewers felt that they knew your family and we are glad everything is going well with your Mom's health and your business ventures.

What an inspiring story! I enjoyed the bio and look forward to the next time I can sit down and read some more from your site. Your Mom sure was a go getter ~ I think I suffered clausterphobia just looking at the pictures! So glad you came to visit at SCS.
