Default The agony!

On my 10th design and counting for this year's Christmas cards (luckily I don't have many to make :-)) and I finally hit upon the perfect design. I love it. It speaks to me. It will be a lot of work, but it will be worth it. It uses a piece of 6 x 6 paper that was gifted to me, that I die-cut for another project and realized would be perfect for this one. I have just one tiny sheet.

UGHHHHH!

I don't have another paper in my entire stash that is exactly like this one. Why does this always happen?!

That's the norm around here! LOL I love 6x6 pads but I always have the perfect paper in there and only two or three sheets of it!

I feel your pain. I landed on a design that involved way too many steps, but I fell in love with the look and couldn't resist. 4 days later I have 50 cards made! I don't love it quite as much any more!

I'm so sorry... I can't stand making more than 2 or 3 of anything, so I rarely have this problem...

I think it's an American Crafts paper, but not sure. I got it as an extra when I made a purchase here in the B/S/T forum. I think it was from a paper stack, so likely there would only be two or four at the most anyway. Personally, I would love a whole stack of just this paper! A beautiful green, with a raised swirl glitter design. Very simple, but just perfect.

Not that this will help you find your perfect paper that you had just one sheet of, but Tuesday morning sells packs of the same 12x12 patterned paper. I think there are 25 sheets in eachnpack. I never buy them because I don't need that many of the same pattern, but for mass production of cards, it would be perfect!

Can you use a different paper and emboss a swirl design on it? There are glittery embossing powders or sticky powder then glitter the design.

I hope you find a reasonable alternative to your perfect paper....been there, ugh, what we go thru, ya know?

I 'invested' in the Heartfelt Poinsettia stamps and dies and paper. After cutting and stamping a bunch of vellum, I am ready to never see this stuff again. Next year I will get ONE stamp and make a simple card like last year...and the cost was SO much less.

WHY does Heartfelt make gorgeous stamps and dies...why??

Poppy got it from me, and I'm sorry to say I don't have any more... but she made my day because I actually remembered the paper stack this came from! So maybe there's hope for me yet! And I found the paper stack:

Nice pad of paper. Now you have the pad, maybe you can hunt down that one sheet.

Don't send the Paper Police after me but here is what I did once. I photocopied a piece of patterned card stock onto white card stock to make do. Worked out in that instance.

You betcha! I don't even have to scan I simple press copy and color and I have instant duplicate.

When I told some stamping friends about this they said " you can do that?" I replied " whose going to come after me .....The paper police." Lol

When I bought a second printer to use down south, I took a piece of staples # 110 paper and told the Man, If this printer will take this paper it is a sale....otherwise no deal. I cannot print on Recollections 110 but I use that for a base.

My printer is a HP 5100 and I paid $59 at Office Depot......I think double for the ink.lol

I estimate that would cost $40 in ink for my printer to print LOL:confused: That's why I don't understand purchasing printables, no matter how cute or cheap they are. It's the ink that will cost you!

Not if you get a CISS onto your color printer. Google it. Someone else on this forum mentioned it and I googled it and got an education. Never heard of it before till she mentioned it. Bought it immediately and installed it. It took digi paper from expensive to pennies per page.

I don't do digis. But I have to buy ink for my printer for everything else, so this was a good solution. Cheaper to copy one piece and problem solved in this instance.

Here is so something else I do. I share my stamps with friends this way. If they have a stamp I like, I will stamp off a few images onto printer paper. Then I copy those images onto my white card stock and colour or whatever from there. This is a solution when you only want a few images and the stamp is not one that will be used a lot. This way they can cut down the printed image to the size they want. I used to swap images with friends they had stamped out, and sometimes they were trimmed down too small to use.

I have been trying to decide if I want to go this way or if I want to go with a b&w laser printer. Nearly everything I print is text on copy paper, not for my crafts. I'm leaning toward a b&w laser printer with a flatbed scanner, otherwise I'd have to hang onto my inkjet for scanning purposes. But ... the more I research the more confused I get. I am starting to worry that I'll end up with both -- and I hardly have room for the one printer I own!

I ended up buying a color laser. I print maps these days for finding birdwatching sites. I did keep the inkjet for its scanner. I haven't hooked it back up yet, but I have found a location for it.

I was going to buy a BW inkjet, but I didn't want to have to switch back and forth for color printing

I am in the same boat. I don't have room for anything any more. But keeping my inkjet and putting the CISS did it all for me. I could afford to use that printer for everything. The only reason I bought a laser printer (and it was a major cheap one) was to do foiling. My inkjet does photos, digi papers, scans, faxes, etc. - and I already owned it.

I was so bummed that my inkjet would not foil and I knew I was really addicted to this application and would use it a lot. You don't need a laser to foil, but it makes the whole experience enjoyable and doable (IMHO) than trying to foil by heat embossing or using glues.

As someone else mentioned, you can get a color laser. I looked into that, but the cost wasn't in my budget.
