I have decided to make some nugget boxes made out of the Micheal's gift certificate tins...just one of many great ideas found on this board...I love this board!
Anyway, this will be my first attempt at altering anything. What type of adhesive do you use to adhere the paper to the tin? Do you use modge podge?
When I covered some other tins I cut out the paper, then ran it through the xyron. I had to borrow a Xyron to do it, but it worked for me so much better then the other things I tried. Looked much neater then the other adhesives I tried too.
Great tips!! I usually use Modge Podge when adhering paper to tins... I am going to have to try using my Xyron the next time. Also, thanks for the tip about sanding before applying the Modge Podge... I can see how the paper may stick better.
I've used two methods, Anywhere Glue Sticks and thin layer Crystal Effects (both SU!). I was surprised about the Glue Sticks--but I made the tins just like you are using and the Glue Sticks work!
I use ModPodge. I like the Matte finish. It holds up well after being handled...as I'm sure the person receiving your tin, after she scarfs down the yummy nuggets, will probably want to keep your tin for another use. Happy Creating.
I use mod podge or double sided tape. Just don't use double sided tape to adhere the paper and then try to put mod podge over it as a protective coating because it will bubble. If you want mod podge to go over the paper, make sure you use it as the adhesive, too, because you'll be less likely to have bubbles.
