a ? about ordering stamps from international companies
Hey there, ladies.
I was wondering about ordering stamps from international companies like LOTV, Whiff of Joy, Stamping Bella, and Sugar Nellie. I've been surprised at how low some of the international shipping fees can be, but I'm wondering if I'd still have to pay customs. Has anyone ever had that problem?
I've ordered from LOTV and Funky Kits from UK. (And Stamping Bella-Canada) Both are pretty quick at shipping, especially FK! We don't have to pay any customs or duty here in the states, at least, I've never, ever had to pay anything extra from any country I've ever ordered from in my history of mail order or internet shopping.
I think there's a price limit on U.S. Customs. I know there is when you're traveling back into the States, as well as shipping goods from another country into the States. It's pretty high though. If you're concerned, go check out the U.S. Customs website for more information.

I haven't ever paid customs either. I've ordered from High Hopes and Stamping Bella in Canada and Whiff of Joy in Switzerland (I think it's Switzerland). I just placed an order with Lili of the Valley and can't wait for it to arrive. Hope it comes quickly as I'm so impatient to use some of those cuties! lol
I have never paid cutstoms either. I've ordered from Stamping Bella, Waltzingmouse, and a company in the UK, can't remember the name right now....I'm at work and away from my precious stamps:(
I have been very happy with orders from waltzing mouse. I just placed a large order with another company across the pond for some of the Marienne dies that are not sold here.
Hopefully that experience will be favorable as well.
blessings.

I agree about Waltzingmouse stamps. I've always been happy with my stamps and how fast they've come to me (in Hawaii.all the way from Ireland, lol!!). Claire's a sweetie and LOTS of eye candy to see on her blog. I wish I had a bigger budget to buys lots more of her wonderful stamps but I've got a mortgage to pay and kids to feed...;)

My Blog: Wahine Inks
My gallery - yup I finally got pics posted!
Wow Nadine! I love both your cards. The red/gold one looks so rich with Asian colors. I don't gold emboss often enough. You're convincing me that I need to emboss more often. I also like how you made the bamboo pop on the second card -- Brilliance Galaxy Gold pigment ink -- I'll have to look for that ink. Thanks for sharing and the inspirations.
Here in the UK we have way cheaper shipping than in the US. It's one of the few things that are! Sometimes I have been horrified by the costs from the US to the UK and it is definitely a factor whether I purchase or not.
We also don't have the flat rate shipping system either so no flat rate envelopes or the horrendously expensive flat rate boxes which are.....wait for it......$32!!!!
It is such a shame as perversely the actual craft stash is waaaaaay cheaper in the US but any savings you could make are wiped out by USPS. One other thing that I have noticed is that there is absolutely no difference in shipping times whether you choose 1st class international or global priority.
I have been caught out a few times paying for the supposedly quicker service but no longer! As my Husband says "the only difference is that the package gets put at the front of the plane and the cheaper parcel in the back!!" lol!
I know this does'nt answer your question but I just wanted to share how it is in reverse xx

True, too! I super appreciate the companies in the States that will send things first class - first class is often faster than priority here!
I have to agree with leelulumpkin. We have a ridiculously low value over here for things shipped from the US, I think it is about 15. The cost of shipping from the US I don't think is too bad, its the Customs import Tax, and the cost of the Post Office collecting it (!) that makes it not viable. However, having said that, sometimes I bite the bullet & do it, because I simply can't get the same stamps over here. I love Sunday International, and no-one over here supplies them.
I've ordered stamps a few times from Sugar Nellie and their shipping to the states is actually very reasonble. I got the unmounted. Great stamps and great service.
