Just a bit of fun - what do you think the new trends will be for 2024?
I'm wondering if we will start to see more tools for cards larger than A2. I've noticed a couple of key influencers making larger cards and there are always a bunch of comments with people remarking how much they prefer larger cards. I know A2 makes the most of card stock, but I wonder if we will see more A6 and 5x7s?
Earthy colors and neutrals seem to be a focus again in home decor; I wonder if we will see more of that in our crafting?
I feel like I have been seeing more fancy fold dies, and yes, more larger dies. As more European product becomes available stateside, more larger card ideas.
Layering stencils seem to be going strong.
Also die and embossing folder combos....a die that matches some feature of the image.
I feel like I have been seeing more pinpoint cover dies. I like them but the price is high for me.
As for colors-no idea. Will be interested to see what others think.
I am curious which animal will be the "it" one for 2024.
Will coffee continue as a popular theme?

Yes, I'm curious what animal or fable-type creature will be "it".
I hadn't thought about the influence of the European market. So true. Curious to see how that flows.
Peach Fuzz as the color of the year. (That's the link above.) A muted and soft... interesting
I foresee more and more layering stencils on the market, some stand alone, some to match embossing folders or stamps. I'm hoping for a hit of retro, like motifs and colors from the 50's or 60's. And NO MORE gnomes, please!

I was with you until you said no gnomes, lol
I still like most of them.
Images with big round faces are to me what gnomes are to you 😉
Thank goodness there are so many options out there for all of our preferred styles.
Thanks for the link....sigh. Peach....not one of my favs. I don't hate it, but I don't use a lot of it either.
I happen to like gnomes too, but I get the point. I don't care for faceless people...I might hope for realistic looking unicorns. Or Pegasi. In A2 size. We have a ton of dragons and mermaids. Maybe gryphons...
I forgot to say the storybook look seems to be going strong too and since I like it, not sorry for that. (ie Anita Jeram)

Pale Papaya was not my favorite but there was no other color like it in the SU spectrum. I wish we could get a new color similar or a bit darker (like Apricot Appeal from waaaaay back).

I think bees will still be going strong and I'm suddenly seeing a lot of frogs lately. Cats are always around (my fave!). I'm really over the wispy drawings like Colorado Craft Company has i.e. Anita Jeram. I know a lot of folks like that look, but it's not for me.
As far as products, more layering stencils and larger format embossing folders. Gina K. recently came out with some 5x7 sized ones that I really like. I've also been seeing quite a bit of 'cowboy/western' themed items. With Yellowstone being such a hit, I can see that for sure.
I'll have to make a note to revisit this thread in December and see how many predictions came true and how many missed the mark...it's all in good fun!

I'm with Mary Beth re: no more gnomes. I got my first gnomes stamps in 2011!
I do like the look of the new pantone Peach Fuzz and could possibly give it a whirl.
I wonder if we might see a new item in embellishments? Not that I need to collect anything new, but I feel like sequins have been on a lot of my cards in the last couple of years or so.
I’ve seen a couple of new releases with skunks. (MFT and someone else..?) Maybe they’re the focus critter for the next little while.
Lawn Fawn had skunks last year as their new sets. (I own the entire set with a blog post.) Looking at Simon Says Stamp, there are several companies with skunks: Whimsey Stamps, Pink and Main, CC Designs, Hero Arts and I am probably missing some.
I love the 5x7 size cards, when I started crafting it was always the size I would make, however with the American standard letter size paper I noticed so much waste, so I changed to A2 size. I do like fun folds and I am always trying them. It gives an WOW factor without using fancy supplies.

The Pantone color of the year works well with one that was posted for an exterior color for homes — I think it was called Forest Sage or something like that. I like that color combination. As for card sizes, I do like 5 x 5 square cards and circle shaped cards, but make predominately A2 because of the economic use of a sheet of standard card stock. With the cost of postage continuing to rise, I think A2 will continue to be popular. I would like to see more sets of layering stencils become available as well as 3D embossing folders. While all of the new "tools" are tempting, the prices are a bit high to justify for the casual card maker. While I have the Spellbinders hot foiling system, I haven't used it anywhere near as much as I should based on the price. I've been thinking about adding the Letter Press system but then I think of how little I use the foiling system and have resisted buying it.

I am loving Lavinia stamps, especially the fox. Her stamps are a bit different. I love the embossing folders that are 3D because they make a great statement on a card by themselves. I have not invested in the foiling system or the letter press. I do find the letter press most interesting but they are both high price points for me. I will stick to stamping and embossing for now. Love peach in the very pale shades. Table space is always an issue so too many machines means less space!

I make A9 cards, almost always- 8 1/2 X 5 1/2 inches, so a letter size sheet folded in half. It's not hard to find A9 envelopes (I go to PaperPapers.com) No waste.
I LOVE that companies are coming out with larger efs & dies! I have resisted buying a Big Shot Plus but I already have some graduated die sets where the largest won't fit through my regular Big Shot. I don't think I'll ever buy a Pro- takes up too much space and I don't do scrapbooking.
I'd be happy to see more penguins and hedgehogs.
As for colors, I don't care what's "in", I just care if I like it.
I read through the list and I had to laugh into my coffee cup over "I wonder if coffee will still be popular" and my brain whispered coffee is always the answer...
but, I get that, I went for years it felt like buying all the coffee things. ( I have so many some have not been inked or cut) so, I don't think I have bought much coffee theme things in the last few months. I've been on a baking cookie collecting kick.

My first reaction was, "Yes! This is me, too!!!" I make A9, A7, and 6" square cards, very very rarely making anything smaller. A9 is my absolute favorite. I enjoy having a larger canvas to play with.
My second reaction was, "No, wait. If companies start making more A9-proportioned stuff, I am gonna need A LOT more willpower...." It's sooo easy for me now, to avoid getting overwhelmed by choices (and temptation to blow the budget), if I say to myself, "Nope, it won't work on at least a 6x6. Not gonna happen. Next!"
On the other hand, having a few more tools would definitely be appreciated. Like a wreath builder stencil thingy like the one Gina K used to make -- the super big one for scrapbooking -- I can't find at all (except maybe from a custom laser cut stencil shop on Etsy).
Oh you know what else??? I know I'm totally weird, but the color gray drives me insane. Seems it has been on-trend for nearly my entire adult life. I didn't like it before, and I strongly dislike it now. So if 2024 brings us anything, relief from A World Of Gray would be heavenly.

It is a shame that she retired the Megan Wreath Builder. I watched a video not that long ago where she was using it for a home decor item. I liked it and thought it would be nice to be able to use it for those kinds of things, but not available. When it came out, I wasn't interested. That seems to happen to me a lot as my tastes change, then the item is not available.

Mushrooms!
I have been trying to think of the thing that led me to ask the question about trends and that was it. Mushrooms! Those are popping up everywhere, too. (Pun wasn't intended but I'll leave it! lol)
