Splitcoaststampers.com - the world's #1 papercrafting community
You're currently viewing Splitcoaststampers as a GUEST. We pride ourselves on being great hosts, but guests have limited access to some of our incredible artwork, our lively forums and other super cool features of the site! You can join our incredible papercrafting community at NO COST. So what are you waiting for?
For every fifteen cards you complete, allot yourself $20 to spend on supplies. That way you're using your stash but able to shop as you go! (Adhesive is NOT included - you can buy those whenever you need to do so)
If you're a scrapbooker, every five layouts would be $20. If you're big on altering, every ten altered items would be $20.
Put it on your profile and keep it updated on how many you've done and how much you've spent. For instance:
How do you get Stamp 2 spend infomation under your siggy. I am new enough that I have not figured it out yet, I tried and it limited it to 3 lines, but I see most of you have more then 3 lines in total between Siggy and design teams and then the challenge in addittion.
I still have to start a Gallery also, any assistence on where do I go to start one? I need to get it started. So can someone please attempt to give me some help, just try to explain it in basic and easy to understand terms. I want to become very involved this year here at SCS- so any help would be wonderful especially about Siggy lines.
I will try too but it's hard because SAB is this month so I think I will start the year in the red.
Pia, are you awarding yourself earned money for swaps you host or swaps you participate in? Just curious.
I was thinking just the swaps I participate in. I have been working hard to use what I have on hand for swaps. I often have to buy some patterned paper. I would love to know what others are doing. I love swaps and it is making something so I figure it should count for something! What do you think?

I'm in again for this year - I wasn't great about updating SCS, but I kept track on my own and really helped me keep spending under control. Plus, I ended 2009 with about $30 in my "account". Sheena - on the left side of your screen you should see "Upload a Card" - click on that and follow the instructions - I think that should start your gallery.
Last year I started participating in swaps so that I would actually use my supplies and stop shopping so much. I found that I bought more paper, adhesive and embellishments because you have to make 6 - 8 identical pages. But then maybe that's my excuse for shopping. I will sign up for this year because I did find it interesting trying to keep up.
I do find that I have to buy paper for swaps, I stopped doing 12x12 swaps for awhile but now I have started again. It is worth it to me, I enjoy swaps.

I'm in again this year! I failed miserably last year, but I am going to try a lot harder to keep track and stay honest this year. I did ok for a while last year, then made a big purchase, and gave up. But I have also applied this to other areas of my life, and I find that really interesting. I'm not too good about updating my signature, but I'm going to see if I can be better at doing that this year....
Oh, and BTW I use different amounts, they are as follows:
$2.00 per card made, $0.25 per envelope stamped, $5.00 per 2-page layout, $5.00 per altered item, $5.00 per workout at Curves, $0.10 per Wii Fit minute, and lastly, an extra $1.00 per card that I sell.
Some of you may think that my 'prices' are high, but the time and effort that I put into my cards makes it worth it to me. The $2.00 barely covers the cost of the cardstock, so that's how I justify it. I also make and sell my cards as a side business, so my cards have to be pretty perfect in my eyes to be considered 'done'... Not that I don't think other people do this, I'm simply justifying my $2.00 + $1.00 per card!
and btw... you find the cards that I sell in my Gallery... That's another resolution - to get that baby updated!!
this should be interesting....should i keep up with it. however i'm going to backtrack a little. i've done 70 invitations for my babyshower, 5 valentine day cards....so far, 2 thank yous, and 2 birthdays. then of course i'll need thank yous for the shower and i'm working on the favors. but i have already spent $200.
ARGH! I just wrote out this whole post and then it disapeared!!!
Ok, here it goes again -
Hi!
How is everyone doing so far this year? I've managed to finish 72 cards, 20 envelopes and have done 2 workouts at curves so far. That puts me at $199 in the positive because I have yet to spend anything! Unfortunately, I have not put my SAB order in yet, and that's going to run me about $450! Yikes! But that 'should' do me for another six months... but who am I kidding!!
I was just curious as to how everyone else is doing? It's been a quiet thread this year!
I also want to add that I have updated the spreadsheet that was going around last year for this years days/dates, etc. and have attached it to this thread for anyone to use. It's quite simply, you simply enter the amount of items you make for each day, and the spreadsheet calculates your 'earnings' automatically. You manually enter the amount you spent in the red 'spent' column, and again, excel does the math for you and calculates your net over/under amount. It's really cool!! I can't take credit for it, it was designed and posted by someone else last year. (if you know who, please le me know, so I can give them credit!!)
The columns that are in the spreadsheet right now are the ones that I use. If you want to delete some of the columns it can get tricky because then you have to start tweaking some of the formulas. If you don't want to do this, you can either a) ignore the said column and simply not use it, or b) send me a pm with the changes you would like to see, I can change it for you, and e-mail it back to you. I really don't mind doing this, I work with Excel all the time at my bookkeeping job, so it's really really not a big deal!
if you want to change the amounts that you earn, change the amount that is shown in column B, rows 2 through 9. This will automatically change it in the corresponding formulas, and the calculations should then be correct.
If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact me!
Thank you for the new spreadsheet. I was going to clear 2009 and reuse that spreadsheet. I'm glad I didn't. I can compare my spending this year to last year. I see you've been very busy already. Way to go girl!

I don't understand this.....are you actually selling cards? or do you just give yourself credit, if you make a card and don't buy anything to make it?

I do sell my cards, so in essence, I take $1 from the sale of that card and put it back into my business as a re-investment... At the end of the day, most of what I spend comes from the sales of my cards anyways, but this is simply another way of tracking, and giving myself an 'allowance'... does that even a little bit of sense? Sorry if I'm confusing the matter more....
Thank you for the speadsheet. Last yer was the first time I ever kept track. I had a small notebook I kept in my purse. It worked, but this will be better.
I have started keeping track also, this is my first full year at SCS and look forward to this Stamp to Spend Challenge. I started keeping track about the first of the year- one thing that I also did was just started at the beginning with Zero even though I had X-Mas $$ to spend on Craft Suppiles.. All those suppiles were from last years money... Now I have started with $0.00 money except projects I have started and finnished already this year.
10 cards = $20.00 (2 dollars each)
5 Altered Items = $20.00 (4 each)
5 Scrapbook LO= $20.00 (4 each)
30M Yoga= $5.00
I think this will work good for me. I do need to use what I have before buying to much more! I am running out of room for store things...
