Signature line updated. Tomorrow is my Creative Saturday and I've got a looonnnnggg list of cards to get out of the way so I'm crossing my fingers.

I'm a visual person and I had planned to use the Excel file but I'm more a pen and paper kind of gal. (I even do most of the writing of my books by hand) So I took a blank check register from my husbands desk and covered it in pretty paper from my DCWV OnceUponATime scraps. It's pretty and sits right on my work table. When I'm done for the day I make my 'deposit' entries and have a running total at my finger tips.

Because I will only get to shop for supplies a couple times a year (unless I order on-line which I seldom do), I am keeping a shopping list in the back so when I do get to go to a real store I have a list and my register to remind me I'm on limited funds.

Creative Blessings!

LOL - I was hoping for permission to cheat. The floss I bought is metallic and I don't like to use metallic floss in my cross stitch. So this really is just for cards. I guess I'll go update my spreadsheet. Thanks for keeping me honest.

$1.10 for a skein of floss? Was it silk or something? That seems awfully high for embroidery floss.
Sorry. I say don't count it if you're going to mostly cross stitch with it.

It's the metallic floss. And, to be honest, it's for cards. I ended up counting it. I've built up a decent surplus, so I didn't mind counting it.

I keep adding ways to make the $ add up - LOL!

Like today, I had to decorate the bulletin board at church for February. It's a big 4x6 board and I use a lot of my own supplies to do it, treating it like a giant scrapbook layout. So I'm giving myself $5 for every time I do the bulletin boards.

I also invite the young teen girls over for a "play date" every month or so. We end up making cards or doing some kind of paper crafting (with my supplies) so I'm giving myself $5 for every crafting party too. Hmmm! What else can I add?????

LOL You're welcome, MaryAnn

I spent 40 cents today! I took it out of pocket change. Our $ Generals around here are still clearancing off Christmas stuff - 90% off. I bought 4 rolls of 2" wired ribbon for card fronts for 10 cents each. Like I need more ribbon/fibers LOL

one month in and here's how I've done: I've made 27 cards at $2.00 each and 6 "other items" at $3.00 each for a total available of $72.00. I've fudged the 'other items a bit because I counted this project
as 4 because it took me so long and I really used up more supplies on it than I'll get back with the spending money.

I've only spent $15.71 so I've got $56.29 burning a hole in my supply wallet! I've really enjoyed keeping up with this accounting so far... it's made me think about my purchases a bit more when I think about how long it would take me to "earn" the price of anything.

All right, so today I go snow shoeing with my DH and some friends. Thought it would only be for about about 1 1/2 hours. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO they took me out there for 3 hours. That's right 3 hours. It was hilly and icy and very difficult to maneuver. I now cannot move. However, I did earn $9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH

Anything in the name of earning money! We were hoping to have a cord of firewood delivered today so that we could stack it in the backyard. I was looking forward to the exercise to earn a few extra stamping bucks. But the wood guy didn't call. Phooey.

Okay, so what do I do when DH blows my stamp to spend budget all to smithereens? Does it count if HE buys me stuff? I asked him to take me shopping for a couple of little things. We spent WAY more than planned, mostly because he kept putting things in the basket that HE liked LOL. Help! I'm so far over budget, I'm going to have to turn into Lady Hallmark to catch up.

Hmmm, that's a good question. I WISH my DH had bought all my stuff then I would have some kind of excuse for how I have pretty much blown my budget for the whole year. Yup, that's right, the whole year. I have currently over-spent by $563.15!!!!! I don't even know how I could have spent that much money, but it is true.

Sigh... at least I've learned a lesson which is that I should NOT let myself order stuff online!

Stackin' and haulin' firewood will give you a workout! I do it about 2x a week. I'll miss that part of the exercise come summer... but then the garden stuff kicks in.

If YOU didn't ask for it. YOU didn't put it in the buggy, YOU didn't pay for it -
Not your problem. You are only responsible for what YOU spent.
Just smile sweetly and thank him for the new toys. ;-)

It's a good thing that I've been exercising quite a bit lately or I wouldn't have ANY money to spend!! I just can't bring myself to make any cards these days...I have plenty of time (I had pretty much all day today and most evenings) and lots of birthdays coming up that I need cards for, but I have a serious creativity block! Everything I start just looks bad, so I just give up. :(

Needless to say, I plan on spending very little in February...

CCC09 January Christ is Born City of David by LMstamps at Splitcoaststampers

BVC09 - January - Romans 12:1-2 by LMstamps at Splitcoaststampers

CCC09 February Lovely as a Tree by LMstamps at Splitcoaststampers

BVC09 - February - 1 John 4:19 by LMstamps at Splitcoaststampers

2009 DH Valentine Card by LMstamps at Splitcoaststampers

I LIKE this! I will adopt this point of view LOL.

The man is an angel, but honestly, he can make me totally crazy.

I send him off to get me a simple thing of adhesive and he comes home with $40 worth of paper! Then I send him back for the adhesive he didn't remember the first time, and he comes home with $60 worth of stamps. (But at least he remembered the adhesive.) At least he has great taste.

He sounds like a keeper to me! Of course if he's driving you nuts with his spending on stamps, I'll gladly borrow his delivery services for awhile. ;)

OK, time for my end of January/begining of February check in. I was in the red most of the month of January but I was more productive this month than I have been in years so I'm not too bummed out about it. Of course, my being in the red wasn't so extravagent until I went to a Stampin' Up Club meeting Thursday night. That, combined with the fact that my demo held my order till February 1st (for sale-a-bration) threw me even further into the red...Yeah, I spent waaay too much but like I said earlier, I'm thrilled with how productive I've been so I'm not going to beat myself up for it.

Default Jan totals

I like how you gave a total from January, so I am adopting the same idea....

Total Cards: 88
Total L/O: 0 (but I am planning an entire book for this weekend!)
Total Altered Items: 2

Dollars Earned: $152
Dollars Spent: $99.39 (purchased a sewing machine this weekend - what fun to stitch on paper - have always loved the look, but never ventured out.... you will be seeing that on some of my upcoming CCC cards I would imagine!)

I still have over $50 in my "BANK"......

Oh, and I have adopted the bonus of: if I get my CCC 09 cards done in the first 3 days of the month, they count as $2/piece instead of $1 as well as the specialty orders like those shower invites - which is how my card total is where it is.... I did my February cards and posted them yesterday!

Another question though - if you do a diaper cake... how many dollars/points is that?????

Im not bothering with the signature updates so Ill post my January activity.

22 cards made @ $0.75 each = $16.50
10 ATCs made @ $0.375 each = $3.75
3 weeks that I went to karate 3 times @ $10.00 = $30.00
4 training walks for the 3-Day @ $3.00 = $12.00 (between 8 and 12 miles each!)
Spent the entire month of January = $0

Total earned = $62.25 Yippee!!!! I almost have enough for a new complete set of nesties!

Ugh. I tried to stamp Saturday and was stumped. I made two cards that I cased, but am not thrilled with them by any means. I think it has been so long, I forgot what to do! I guess I will keep trying. : (

Light some candles, put some wonderful mood music on, order take-out for dinner (something you really adore), and have DH massage your shoulders.... then park him in front of the TV and hightail it to your stamp room!

Don't let yourself be stressed about it. Visit a few galleries and blogs and you'll quickly find your mind brimming with fab ideas!

I'm going to join in on this one. Hopefully I will be more motivated to use my supplies before buying more.

Wink Totals (egad!!)

Well, it wasn't as bad as I'd feared.... but it's not good either! Here'sy balance for January.... and I will say, in the past couple of days, I've made a little bit of a dent in my negative balance. (Emphasis on "little".)

Earned: $267
Spent: $664.80
Balance: -$397.80

I'm off to do something about digging myself out of this hole LOL!

Mind you, this isn't counting what DH decided to buy me on his own LOL. If I added that in, I'd be into next year's budget!

Hopefully, I can catch up a bit over today and tomorrow.... Yikes!

I'm feeling so guilty (for my "excess"), I almost want to pack half of my new stuff off to you.

Note, I said "almost"...

I am one of those truly blessed women whose DH sits down in front of the TV and promptly falls asleep. 7-10 seconds is his average.

I'll set up a TV tray to work on assembling cards, and he'll come in, always in the middle of a show I'm watching, and ask to turn the channel to his favorite MSNBC. Before the end of the first news item, he's ZZZZ'ing away, and I just flip it back to my show.

So it was a little tongue in cheek when I wrote that LOL. I soooo love this guy. He never complains about what I spend on stamping, takes me shopping even when I say I don't need anything, and tosses stuff in the basket that he's sure I need (and sometimes, it ends up being the most fab stuff). I have to be careful about saying I'm interested in something - he shows up home with it.

He's the one who bought me a Cuttlebug and everything that goes with it -- I didn't even realize he was checking them out at the store while I was browsing! (I had no interest in getting one - I used to do all my own embossing by hand. Yikes!! I wouldn't be without it now!)

Like I said, he totally destroys my budget....

Okay, enough bragging, and no, I don't lend him out! ;)

I haven't bought anything since the first week in January, but I haven't made too much either. I just finished 10 cards for a swap, and I have a couple of layouts on the go so slowly I am chipping away at my deficit.

I need to take a page out of your book LOL.

I actually have no more shopping trips planned (a good thing). And I am a busy beaver these days as I have a bunch of ATC's to finish up this week for swaps, plus lots of cards and things for the DT I'm on.

Now, if I can just keep strong when DH asks if I want to go shopping on Saturday.... that has been my downfall!
