Here is what I have learned while trying to case someone's card:
1. don't stamp on top of newspaper...it smears and you get black ink everywhere...not good if you are trying to use light color paper.
2. when the directions state to use glossy paper, use GLOSSY paper! Alas, I didn't have any so I thought I could just sponge the ink on the paper the same way...it took three hours to get the same effect!! LOL:rolleyes:
3. Scor and fold your main card FIRST before you get ink all over your fingers and then try to fold your cards and get orange and really red on your yoyo yellow card stock(can I name these colors someday???)
4. DON'T DRINK A MARGARITA while making cards!!! I had one sitting there and the salt fell on my cards and I had salt streaks all over my cards!!!! Friends that don't stamp don't understand these things! I ended up spilling it and didn't drink a drop, plus I had someone yelling, "Margarita foul!" from the next room.
5. Don't use latex gloves because they also pick up the newspaper ink and gets all over your yoyo yellow and non-glossy white cardstock!
6. Never put at the bottom of your storage caddy, what you need NOW.
7. Have plenty of adhesive tape:(
8. Don't hold your ink pad with one hand while you are rubbing and trying to get ink on your stamp because you don't realize that you smudged some on your fingers and unless you work for the police or FBI, a complete set of your finger prints don't look nice on an Easter card.
9. have a trashcan ready!!!
10. My fingers are yoyo yellow, orange and really red but I had the best time of my life. If I had a camera here, instead of at home, I would take a picture and show you all my FIRST card! Even though it is a complete copy of the one I "cased", I hope I did it justice despite my crazy, unorganized and unorthodox methods!
I had to vent. BTW...I read somewhere that cats and two sided tape don't mix. I can attest to that!
That totally made me laugh out loud! OMG!!!! Bwahahahaha

thanks for the moral support! I really do hope I will get better and that I am not so dysfunctional however, the best part is that I had fun! So, you other newbies..hang in there with me!
I have been stamping for a couple of years now and I *still* end up with ink all over myself - although at least now it's limited to my hands. When I first started I'd come home looking like a four year old, I had ink everywhere! My husband would just shake his head and smile.
Location: prolly in my 'rubber room'... in the mid-west

i can relate! your too funny! with your 'top 10 things'...
in the beginning for me... i didn't have a stamp & scrub and you could always tell (even for a couple days) when i had been stamping because i was using baby wipes to clean my stamps and it ended up everywhere.
You are tooooo FUNNY! Thanks for the laugh!
P.S.
I do understand!!

Thanks for the laughs, Miabel! I feel like I'm missing out on some great stamping experiences, tho -- I've never had the fingerprints problem on my stamping projects. Inky fingaz definitely, but no CSI cards from me so far.

Misti!!! You are evil!!! The only green chiles I can get are from the can :(
Hopefully this summer I can find some at a farmer's market! As for 81 degrees, it will be 75 up here but then we have S.N.O.W. predicted for the rest of the week! What kind of evil place is this??? The tulips and daffodils are coming up! Waaaa
As for the margarita salt technique...hmmmm...I haven't read THAT one on the techniques page. LOL It might work! If I don't have any dazzling diamonds, maybe I can do a lick and stick!
Any ideas as to how I can remove the ink from my fingers? I have scrubbed them but they are still a wonderful sunrise orange:( I guess that can be MY signature mark too! I loved that, by the way...I might just start stamping my thumbprint on the back as proof that I made it or at least was around it enough to get it on there..heehee
VERY GOOD TO KNOW THAT I AM NOT ALONE!!! Go Inkers!!!
This was a good read to start my day! Alas I have no answers to the inky fingers dilemma. After a good day of stamping, my fingers are nice shade of black from my StazOn and Memories black pads.

hahaha...I guess that is how we can spot each other in the crowd, huh? Yikes, I haven't even used Stazon but from reading other threads, I hear it's quite a feat to get it out of anything! I actually just read a thread about simple green. I might have to try that because EVERYONE raves about it! More shopping!!!
Miabel, Thanks for the great laugh this morning!! A laughter a day......
As for the inky fingers, perhaps some Ultra Clean stamp cleaner would help? I must remember this one for the next time my fingers get all inked up ;)
Enjoyed reading. There is nothing worse than getting into a "groove" stamping and then realizing you don't have enough adhesive. At least you learned valuable lessons. Have a ball!

Use Simple Green and your nail brush. The ink will come off! hee hee, I couldn't resist the green chili remark.

That was so funny, thank you so much for the chuckle. I think most of us have been there, lol, not all at the same time, but I've definitely been there. I usually have embossing powder fingerprints on my work!
Thanks for the giggle!
It reminded of one of my first stamping experiences I refer to as "me vs classic black ink". Without going into gruesome detail, just be warned that the classic black pad is tricky and can without warning explode in your hand! Sending both pieces flying right onto your pink organdy ribbon (it prefers it's victims to be light colored) and newly stamped pretty in pink explosion card (that took you 45 minutes to get just right).
From that experience I learned never to completely trust classic black and that nothing but a good hair washing gets ink off fingers! Happy Stamping!
