Splitcoasters check out this 5 X 7 collage of a bird that is selling in the latest Signals Catalog. It's only $59.95! If you don't know what gift to get friends and family, you too can look like a world class artist!
I think most of us are capable of creating a CASE of this for a lot less money. What do you think? ;)
If I get some old paperbacks and cut them up and paste them to the front of a card, that would be craft so pretty worthless.
If I frame the card, then I get to call it art and charge a fortune.
The person who would buy that obviously doesn't have time to explore their own creativity.:(
Omg dont get me started on the Art Vs. Craft thing! I have this debate with friends all the time. Apparently because I dont slap a bit of paint on a canvas (that 90% of people dont understand their "creativity" anyway!) mine is only craft and not good enough to be considered as something decent! And apparently the art and craft fair is dull and creativeless to them!!!
Ok vented now lol. Im pretty sure that the idea of book pages on cards/pages was becoming popular my us, the creative crafters ;), way before they thought of it ;)
** would like to say I enjoy all art i just dont like the art snob **

Great point! I haven't ever had to debate with someone about that but the controversy certainly applies here.
Such a loaded topic. Some crafts seem to be worthy of high prices though - so how does it work? Perhaps it is those crafts that were made by men? Fine woodwork and blown glass come to mind.
It is the 'home crafts' that seem to be put down. The ones that are based in the creation of every day objects by women, usually seeking to save money and recycle.

HAHAHAHAHAHA -- that is so funny. I didn't know what to expect when I opened the link. I burst out laughing when I saw it. I'm running to get a bird die and look around the house for some "found paper" hahahahhaahah ... the sound of me laughing some more as I leave the computer on my quest....
Well, I didn't laugh, but I thought that the frame was too small for the piece. It seems to cut off the bill and tail a bit. And MDF, that's..... crapboard, isn't it?
Yes, I can make that, lol. I even think I have a Cricut die cut similar. I always have gorgeous book paper. I am definitely an artist. Even my friends who are strict artists tell me that I am an artist. Girls & Guys just tell your friends off. ;)

I'm not sure I know exactly what you mean by crapboard but yeah. I took another look and you're right about the frame being too small. too. Poor bird is definitely suffering animal cruelty from being caged in tiny space. :p
