I saw it in the newspaper. I think I also got the email but deleted it. $5 off $25 is only 20% off. I'd rather buy one thing and use the 40%-off coupon. Actually, I did do that yesterday. I bought a cling stamp which was already 40% off, and I bought a bunch of baker's bags that were $5.99, and used the 40%-off coupon on that.
However, I do live close enough to a Michael's that I can easily only buy one item at a time. I guess if I lived far far away from a Michael's, I would take advantage of the $5 off $25 sale, since I'd not be going back every week.
I just emailed them, because I got a coupon for 40% off one reg.-priced item that started Sunday and ends tomorrow. Either they sent it a little too late, or it was a mistake.
The email I got was for $10 off every $30 spent -- so 33%. I wonder if they are personalized based on your shopping history or specific to a particular geographic area. Like Spohie, I live close enough that I'd rather go a couple of times with a 40% off coupon if there are several things I really need.
The coupon I got is for today and tomorrow and says $5 off every $5 spent, up to a max of $25 off.
Wow... at first I thought you did a typo!! If I got a coupon like that, I'd have already been there!!
I got the same coupon as Lutheran: $5 off of $25.
To Karen99:
I looked for a link, but can't find it anymore.
Here is the new link though: Michaels Weekly Ad
Just click on the big "40% off" on the right side.
I got the $5 off for every $25 you spend. I like to use the 50% coupon (when it's available) from AC Moore at our Michaels. Michaels is a lot closer than AC Moore to me. I usually bring my bf along too and have him make a separate purchase for me using a coupon too. He's not pleased about this, but he does it anyway. lol.

Thank you!!! My hubby's supposed to be taking me out for dinner tonight, there happens to be a Mike's there also...it's an hour away from home (we live in a really small town).
I wonder how long it will take for Michaels to put up a sign saying it was a misprint, that they are sorry, yada, yada, yada. I printed it out anyway, but not sure I'll even bother trying to use it.
Awesome! Thanks! I'll definitely be using this. The $5 off $25 not so much. I don't need that much right now from Michaels.

Sadly, the $5 off $5 coupon was indeed a typo! I printed off all coupons available for this week and took them to the register figuring that it was too good to be true. It was. :(
BUT THEY SAID THEY WOULD STILL HONOR IT!!!!:p:p:p
I was so happy that they were going to honor that FREE coupon that I just used it on a $6 cup. The rest of the stuff, I used the other coupon ($5 for every $25). Only spent $40. Good deal all around!
I would rather them stay in business then get one night of free shopping out of the deal. Besides, the poor teenage girl working the register really looked like she had been beaten up by angry customers!
I went last night with DH and got an embossing buddy, Distress ink pad and glitter glue. The fun thing was that we used change out of the car to pay for it. I printed off another 2 to use today.

I read in a later post that M's had sent out an "Oops, sorry!" email, but I used my coupon anyway. The clerk scanned it and it went through just fine. I got $5 off a $10 purchase. Sweet! :-)
Thanks, Vic, for posting the link!

Used the coupon today to buy a Hero Arts Canvas Stripe Background Cling stamp, which was 40 percent off, $5.99, then used the coupon, stamp total cost: 1.07, I call that a GREAT deal : )

Used my coupon today, got some ribbon and embossing powder for $2.38! Thanks so much for the link - printed out 5 coupons and passed out the other four to other shoppers.

That's great news! My Michaels is not so kind, so I didn't even try.
Early last year I attempted to buy some sort of packaged embellishment (don't recall exactly what it was). The price rung up differently from what was on the shelf (as has happened before), but this time I held my ground. The cashier (a snotty guy who is supposedly the ranking cashier) went to check the price. He took forever, so I went to go find him, thinking he was having trouble finding the end cap with the item. He wasn't lost at all. Instead, he was standing there giving instructions to a woman with a pricing gun. She changed the shelf price to match what was on the register and then he had the nerve to tell me that I misread it. I thought that took a lot of nerve, considering he saw me watch them change the shelf tag. I complained to Michaels customer service and requested that a regional manager return my call, but I never heard from anyone. So, I stopped shopping at that Michaels. If I'm desperate for something that JoAnn's doesn't carry, I'll visit my Michaels to see if they stock it and then I'll drive to a neighboring city to buy it. Thankfully, I'm rarely that desperate.
I didn't get the email, but a friend shared the link with me. I finally bought the Tim Holtz little bottles. Origionally $5.99, and I got them for $1.06. I was a happy camper!

OMG! The exact same thing happened to me at the michaels closest to me and it was the manager that did it. It hadn't been the first time he had been nasty. That store had a really bad rep for really crappy service. Well, we all know how nice of a lady Karma is:rolleyes: about a month or so later that store closed down and one of the cashiers told me that only 2 employees were sent to another store and that did not include any of the managers. Oh, it took all my self control not to go up to the manager and blow him a raspberry.
