Hi Everyone!! I hope all of you are doing well and will have a great month of May- spring is on it's way here in the Northeastern United States for sure!
The dogwoods are in bloom along with so many other beautiful trees and flowers- I love this time of year!!
The May 2016 theme will be "Mercy". Again, this is a theme that runs through the Bible - God's Mercy to Man....so many times, the Lord has extended His Mercy and especially for us as believers.
Optional Technique- Stencils
I am so thankful that putting our faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior allows us not to receive the punishment of death (eternal separation from God) that we deserve.
I am not sure what translation or version of the Bible you are using for study or Bible Art Journaling- I prefer NKJV for study but also own KJV, NLT, NIV, The Open Bible and many others and the Bible I purchased for BAJ is the NLT.
There are many free resources online for looking up keywords- I use
BibleGateway.com . Once you are on the site, put your cursor on the first heading "Bible" and you should be able to choose the option "keyword search" where you can select a word or phrase, Bible translation/version of your choice and I would recommend setting the # of words per page to 500. I have found that
BibleGateway.com is an excellent great resource for study and teaching.
In my keyword search of the word "mercy"- it appears in 275 verses in the NKJV, 262 in KJV, 29 (all in Psalms) in NIV.
Also, to my delight the verse of the day at BibleGateway.com happened to have the theme of "Mercy" (there is a verse of the day highlighted when you enter the site):
"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)
So thankful that we will receive the reward of eternal life in Heaven through our faith in Jesus Christ!!
Again, please remember that there is no right or wrong way to journal in your Bible, or if you prefer, you can just use an art journal. It is not about how great your artwork looks but it is a creative worship time between you and the Lord.
So let's grab our coloring supplies (colored pencils, acrylic paints, markers, plain pencils, watercolors, crayons- whatever your heart desires) along with stencils (if you wish) and worship the Lord with our creativity!!
Again, if you are unable to actually journal at this time, we would love for you to join in and "chat" so we can encourage each other, share ideas as well as see your art in the gallery when you are able to create.
Just a reminder:
We have our own gallery to load our journal pages-
Once you enter the "Upload A Card" click on the arrows next to the windows under "Select Galleries"- in the first window select "Anything BUT a Card", in the second window choose "Books, Handmade Albums and Journals" , in the third window choose "Art Journal Pages" and then a 4th window should appear and choose "Bible Art Journal Pages" .
Also,
please use all three of these keywords when you post to the gallery- BAJ16, BAJ1605, Bible Art Journaling (remember to separate each with a comma) and if you have time, please come to this forum to link your journal page so we can be inspired by your work and encourage you with some "love" ...
I am so looking forward to seeing how you interpret the "Mercy" theme into your Bible Study/Bible Art Journaling! There is no deadline so even though this is a May theme, you can link whenever you desire...
Hugs and I hope you have a wonderfully blessed month!
