I would like to apologize to everyone for the 100th Color Challenge Contest. I truly wanted to do something fun and special because of how much all the challenges have taught me. My intent was just to have a great prize for one person as a commemoration of the 100th challenge. I never meant to leave anyone out by using a color you don't have (and I have stated MANY times that if you do not have a color - you can substitute something similar, it's a challenge, there are not concrete rules and I have never discounted any cards because they used the wrong colors. Heck, last week I mistakenly used the wrong color myself!) I did not intend to penalize the later time zones or people who work either.
In hindsight, I would have done the contest differently. I would have had a drawing for everyone who guessed correctly and made a card. I truly apologize. I was in a hurry to post this for you all this morning before I took my boys to school.
HOWEVER, I truly feel that Lauren (mytime) is a very deserving winner and I do not want my mistake to take away from her excitement over winning. She is a constant uploader here on SCS and shares many fantastic ideas regarding stamping and a wealth of inspiration regarding her daughter and their fight with luekemia. Please, be happy for her.
Now, I would like to offer up a little gift made by me ( I know this in no way compares to the book made by Leigh) but it is at least something. I will check this thread at midnight tonight. If you have the correct color and an upload link in your post, you will be entered in the drawing. I will post the winner of the drawing tomorrow morning.
Again, I am truly sorry that it turned out messy. I just meant to do something nice and fun.

It was fun Emily. All of the challenges are. It is so hard to keep things "FAIR" all around. You did the best you could. Thanks for all you do. I appreciate it. Congratulations to Lauren! She is one LUCKY girl!
I don't stamp anymore since I started digiscrapping, but when I did, I loved all the challenges. I think you have always done an awesome job and think people should appreciate that you give so much of yourself to the site.
What you did was sweet, thoughtful, and wonderful. Don't feel bad for a moment!
This was a great challenge, and I am very excited for Lauren on her win. Thank you Emily for all the hard work that you do to bring these challenges to us.
No hard feelings here...and I did the challenge with the official "In Color"...substituted the InColor with a non SU paper that resembles that color. No biggie!
And, even if I didn't win...I still have a super neat idea I might want to make for myself...the CC combo book.
I just woke up - it's 6:30AM here in Okinawa - and have been looking at the posts and dreaming up what card I may make when I came across the unhappy poster. Just so you know Emily, without your challenges, I probably wouldn't even be posting cards on SCS - I love your CC and I always come to your list of color combos whenever I have a block on what colors to choose for a card. I have no problem with the way you ran your contest - and congrats to the winner who by the way, made an awesome card to boot!! We all you know it's your free time and your love of stamping that gives us the opportunity to try these color challenges. Keep up the awesome work!!
Don't feel bad - you do something good for people and you're guaranteed to have someone upset. I'm thrilled that you all take time to post these challenges. I only wish I'd have participated in them sooner! Thank you, Thank you, and thank you again! Congrats to 'mytime' - you deserve it - your work is beautiful!

oh, Emily, no need to apologize!! i'm working on one of my cards right now (love these colors, so i'll be making more than one!), but i am watching my neighbor's kids today, so it's been twice as difficult to get my stamping done. lauren's card was great, plus she guessed correctly first, and therefore, is very deserving!! i'm sorry that you feel bad. it's tough to please everyone and sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do! thanks for all you do for us CCs!!
I agree Emily, the point of the challenge is to get us stamping, it was so great and sweet of you to have a prize. I actually got off the computer and went right down to stamp this morning instead of procrastinating, that in itself was a good thing for you. You are most awesome Mrs. Emily and we all love you dearly!

Emily you have done such a great job here on SplitCoast. I think you deserve a big hug. --I don't know how you find the time to give so much to this site, with little boys to look after. I just had my Grandsons for 4 days and didn't get any stampin' done. Keep up the good work, we all think you are awesome! You Rock!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't use the SU colors but I have lurked this challenge for some time now. Love the creative geniuses that show up. I was not involved in the contest but have heard about some snit over the fairness. I read an interesting quote yesterday from William Goldman....Life isn't Fair. But Life is Fairer than Death.
I guess that's all I should write...because if you knew me, you'd know what I am sputtering all over the house about now concerning this complaint.
Like Loree2000 said, Don't sweat it. Exactly. Keep on keepin on.
I don't think there's ANY need to apologize!!! You have inspired all of us on SCS with your awesome creativity, great sense of humor and giving spirit. I don't get to do a lot of the challenges because of my work schedule, but I check out the submissions all day long.
I only have one more thing to say: Yay for Emily!!

Can I just add that I used Tempting Turquoise WWC today to color in the things that needed colored...the INColors are pretty darn near close to a lot of other of the regular colors!

Oh Emily...
I had no idea that there was a problem until I came over to check who the winner is and found this thread. I'm sorry that anyone would be upset. You do so much work for these challenges and share so many of your creations here at SCS. It's a shame that anyone would repay your generosity with ingratitue and a verbal slap in the face.
It is very generous for you to offer another prize. While I won't be able to make the deadline, I want to thank you for going out of your way to make this a fun challenge for all of us.
No need to apologize!!! What a great challenge! AND I am sure it was an adrenaline rush for MANY! Your color challenges are great! Keep up the great work! LOVE LOVE LOVE the CC challenges!!! The list hangs on the wall by my stampin' table for inspiration on every card I make! APpreciate YOU!
Thanks for adressing the issue with the time constraint. I think you're doing an amazing job with the weekly challenge and I appreciate all of the time and effort that you put into this. I'm always looking forward to the challenges you post.
I hope I didn't sound negative with my post in the other thread this morning. I really meant to raise awareness for future contests and not criticize in any way. Hopefully, I worded my question tactfully and the right "vibe" came across (never easy on the Internet). To me, reading that work hours were just a small detail that slipped your mind in your morning rush is certainly a valid explanation and makes it alright by me. I was just a bit disappointed to not get to play, but definitely happy for Lauren for winning the contest (yeah, Lauren!!). It's very generous of you to offer to draw a prize tonight, but from where I stand, you certainly don't have to. After all, you've already bought the book for Leigh's amazing gift.
Wow, I don't think I've ever posted anything this long on a touchy subject before... I just hope I can reassure you that there was no hard feelings and I hope this didn't make you feel bad, because that's the last thing I would have wanted. It's a wonderful thing that you volunteer your time to such an enjoyable weekly challenge.
Thanks to both Emily and Leigh for the contest and prize, and congrats to Lauren for winning it!
Oh my goodness Emily, don't feel sorry. I am sure that almost everyone can appreciate the time and effort that you put forth into getting the challenges together and making it a really fun and inspiring activity for us. It is people like you and the other mods that make SCS such an enjoyable site to visit. I am excited for the winner to receive Leighs Wonderful book and hope that people would not want to rain on her parade for something so petty as the semantics of the contest.
Please don't let one bad response ruin it for you, I had a great time! This was my first color challenge and I'm going to participate from now on! My card disapeared off the site from some reason, but I loved what I did and from the response I got, other ladies did too. That's the whole point of this isn't it? To share our passion, not to get prizes? THanks for all your hard work!!!
Well, Emily, all I can say is brava - job well done. You went out and bought a book with your own money, Leigh made the book with her own time. It was so sweet of you to do something extra that any complaint is unjustified - remember, you can never please everyone and you sure do please an awful lot of us every week. I am definitely not a Cool Carribean fan, don't have any, but did have a blue that was close and that's what I used. Perhaps part of creativity is finding an alternative way to accomplish something - and that's what you do for us week after week after week - push us right out of our box and make us do something different and always, always learn something new. Emily, you are a kind, generous, mother of three who gives to so many every week - I would say the contest is over so deal with it!!! Mytime's card was outstanding, she got it done, guessed correctly and deservedly won! Thanks, Emily for being there for us! Kudos, Girl, Kudos!

Emily...it's ridiculous that you should feel bad about this contest. While I am of course sad that Leigh's lovely book won't be mine, I think the contest was as fun and as fair as you could make it, knowing so many folks would be stalking and hoping to win. However, there is only one book and one person was going to win out over everyone else anyway. Life isn't always fair and we don't live in a perfect world; I think it's sad that you have had negative feedback about all this when you have given so much of yourself to this challenge. All you're going to get from me are big hugs and no complaints! Rock on, sister!

I don't really stamp much. I'm just here for the company.
I sent you a pm, but I'm sure you get so many you won't have a chance to read it so I'll just re-state the gist of it here.
There is no need to apologize----I so appreciate the challenges, You can have no idea!!
I'm sure people aren't trying to take it out on you personally, they're just frustrated I guess---I'm a writer/editor and I am always amazed what people will put in writing but never say if you were standing in front of them...from novels to e-mails, it's across the board.
As far as I am concerned (I had the right color---and yes I counted them too :mrgreen, you do not need to do another drawing.
It's all goood!!! Maybe if people don't have some of the in colors we could set up a RAK in the other forums? Just a suggetsion...
Emily please don't feel need to apologize for this, you are volunteering your precious time to do the weekly color challenges. I'm also in shock that someone on this site would be so bold to even challenge all the time you put into this. I have done one COUNT them ONE color challenge but only because I work outside the home (only to pay for my expensive habit), but I'm here on SCS every single day at work looking at the fantastic creations that everyone posts.
It would NEVER cross my mind to speak out against anyone that volunteers their time to this site for anything they do!! Good grief...I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to peek, let alone get awesome ideas here.
It should come as no surprise Emily there have been quite a few people to rally behind you - in my opinion you are one FANTASTIC volunteer!! I so appreciate EACH and EVERY minute you devote to this challenge!! THANK YOU!!!

emily, my dear dear girl,
i have only started challenges a few months ago and i cannot even begin to verbalize how all these have helped me! i am stepping outside of my box and attempting colors and sketches and techniques. i am forever grateful for this little "family" and i didn't even get the chance to play yet, but i came home to devour all the cards that were posted and read the answers. i am forever grateful for your time and your dedication to us , please, please, please know that we knew there was only one winner and that it was all fun! NO APOLOGY NEEDED!!!
thanks from a happy stamper!

Emily, you are such a great & talented person & I feel bad that you had to deal with this when you were trying to make the 100th CC special. The book by Leigh is fantastic & Lauren is one lucky girl! She soooo deserves it--she is truly an inspiration to me & lots of other stampers on SCS. Without your hard work & dedication, we would be lost on Tues. mornings when we check for the new CC. Keep up the good work & keep on inspiring all of us to be better stampers!
I have to put my 2 cents in. I LOVE THESE CHALLENGES. I don't always get to play but I have also learned so much from them. I love to see others creativity! I am still trying to collect all of the SU colors! Can't wait until I have them ALL!!!!! But until then, I will substitute or I won't play. And I won't be upset because you didn't pick a color that I have. Don't feel bad Emily! We appreciate so much all that you do. Thank you, thank you thank you!!!

Emily I don't feel you have anything to be sorry for, you do an awesome job every week, you can't always make people happy all the time. Thanking you again for all that you do for us every week. I love the color challenge, keep up all the wonderful work!!
Emily, like the others, I don't think you need to apologize. All you challenge hostesses do a fantastic job!! Thanks for even having the prize!
Lauren's card was so adorable!! and I'm tickled she was first!!!
Thanks for everything

Oh I am so sorry -
I thought something like this might happen though. I could kind of foresee it after I read the original post. I'm just sorry that it did. I still had fun making my card and uploading even though I knew I was already too late to "win".
I feel that as an artist I am winning when I do the challenges as my work has greatly improved.
i think for whatever reason you have to start this thread for is unneccessary!
you do awesome and we all appreciate your time and effort! you have no idea how much I improve since joining the challenges..
its great that theres a little prize out for us, but in all honesty I dont think anyone was doing this particular challenge for the sake of the prize (abeit a really NICE prize)
we're all here having fun, learning lots, and for people like myself, I became less colorblind, and now have the courage for different color combos.. and THAT is the best gift of all.. (in my eyes)
so really, no need to fret... besides, if you really feel bad, there is always challenge 250, 500, 1000, 1million! so you can make it up then.. i know I'll be here stalking on the millionth challenge.. (assuming im not dead by then) hehehe
so em.. great job, keep up the good work, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for organizing/maintaining this fun fun challenge!

Emily, there is no need AT ALL to apoligize! You can't be expected to KNOW what colors everyone has on hand. It is fine to substitute. You never mentioned that a person couldn't do the challenge if they didn't have that specific color!
And people have to realize that when they take part in the color challenge that if they don't have ALL su! colors, there is a huge chance that some weeks they won't have that color. Big deal. It is in NO WAY your fault. I also think that you shouldn't apologize for the way you ran the contest!
I think we are all winners "all" the time just by being inspired to work outside our comfort zone and continually learning and creating. Congratulations to "mytime"........a gift well deserved. Emily.......you are just the best! BTW, I guessed Choc. chip after the end of the contest....silly me! Your friend and admirer, Nancy

I think what you did for the challege every week is wonderful. It was a special treat for their to be a prize given to one of the weekly participants. I don't think anything additional is needed for the rest of us, no matter what not everyone can be pleased. Not everyone has all of the SU colors, no one said they did, but this is a free challenge that people can participate if they would like to. I have one sheet of each In Color, which I plan of using later tonight to make this card, but I don't feel excluded in the challenge if I do not own the color you decide to use. I see after reading the rest of this thread that other people feel the same way as I do. I hope you do not regret your choices for today, you've done an excellent job with the Color Combos. Also...congrats to the winner of that lovely book! Enjoy!
