I got this idea from hedonist19. She had a great response last year and I thought that while she had over 400 cards for her PA VA, that I'd like to do the same for ours.
I was thinking that other people would want to do this for theirs as well. So, not to take away any of her thunder, I was hoping to see if anyone in the North Texas area would be interested. Since some of us are doing the monthly challenge, maybe you could add say 2-5 extra cards each month and send them to me and I would get them brought to the local VA hospital. I'm going to bring this up at my monthly stamp camp and I'm sure some of these people will be eager to help as well!
Just an update to let you know the wheels are in motion!
Hi,
Well, its official; we are now Volunteers with the Volunteer Services of the Department of North Texas Veterans Affairs. I have been in contact with Stephen Stous the Chief of Voluntary Services and he says he has a great need for us! There are many other services that they need help with but for now, I think we will start slow and see where that takes us.
I have had a few people donating their Christmas cards from last year as well as a few who are involved with the Monthly Christmas Card Challenge and are making extras.
One thing that was mentioned was the need for Thank You cards that the Vets can send out, so again Im asking for help in this area. Any would be appreciated.
** A reminder to please include envelopes to go with your cards and if possible, stamps would be greatly appreciated. Remember that some have limited resources and we want to make this as easy as possible. When the postal rates go up (again) Ill supply the upgrade.
Thank you all for your support, the response has been great and I see this endeavor as a success already, even though we are only 2 months into it!!! Yea!!!
A BIG Thanks to Chris for her wonderful donation of 30!! Christmas Cards! With her donation we almost met our quota for the month and it's only day 2!!!
I can send you some. I live in Justin, TX - where about are you?
Let me know where to send them. PM me with your address.
This is a very nice thing you are doing.

I would like to help where should I send the cards? I also live in Justin Tx.
Also where did you find that Texas stamp you used on a card you downloaded. I would love to have that stamp as I'm new to TX, my friends back in FL would love it.

Well here I am facing another card challenge weekend and I'm bored of the same old same old. So I've decided to make Christmas cards this round. I wonder what I will do with all those things. PM me Sandi so I can find a needed home for the cards we'll be making over the next few weeks. I live in the Fort Worth area, hope you're near me. Let me know if you are needing any additional help with the VA as I know some high school students that would love to help some to complete their "commitments to serve" projects. What a great project you have going. Keep up the great work.
Hi Sandi,
I just sent 36 cards your way today. Please let me know when you receive them.
Shonna, I recevied your wonderful cards yesterday. My DH LOVED the Texas Stamp and I LOVE the "Made by a TEXAN" you had stamped on the backs - where did you get them?
Ok Kids!
To date we have ~ drum roll please! 200 Christmas cards - 10 thank you cards - and what I call misc. cards, 15 of these.
We are off and on our way!! At this rate we will exceed our goal of 400 cards!! Yippee!!
Thank you all so very much for your donations and talents!! I oooh and ahhh over every one! I'll take a picture of the boxes and post them so you can see our progress.

Thank you both. I'm glad I could help out.
I found them at my local scrapbook store a couple of years ago. I have had several people inquire about them. They are a Joyce A Meyer stamp but unfortunatley the company is no longer around. :(
Happy Easter!

Deb, I received your donation yesterday. They are fabulous! We had weather problems last night just after I got home from work and had to shut down all the computers so I couldn't post sooner, Your donation put us at the 236 mark for Christmas Cards! Thank you so very much!
This is a wonderful plan! I am so in! I am going to try and get my swaps group involved as well.
I sent some last year to some random person who our church had recieved requests from. Feels great to help out doesn't it!

Tired of the heat yet?
Make some Christmas cards and donate them to our Veterans!!
It serves 3 purposes -
1. You can help our Vets by your donation
2. You can cool off thinking of Christmas
3. You can try different Christmas Card styles to send out this year and not have "left overs"
Man! I pulled all my extras and then totally forgot about mailing them. I was going to do envelopes for those that were missing them. I will send you what I have and do the envelopes over the next couple of weeks. SORRY!!!! I am doing workshop prep right now. Got on for some inspiration and noticed your post. Thanks so much for the reminder. As soon as I have this workshop behind me I will zip on over to the post office. Again, I am sorry for flaking out!
Now off to view scrap pages that will hopefully inspire me!
